    Barkley is incredibly honest. Like it or not, he says it like it is. Life is funny, when I was younger Dad and I couldn't stand him but it was solely because he was the other team against our Bulls. At age 40 I just see him being more genuine than Jordan, Pippen, etc. Keep being you Chuck!

    I grew up as a huge MJ fan and still am in terms of what he was able to accomplish on the basketball court, the guy was made for basketball and IMHO the best to ever do it. That being said, as I grew up to learn more about his character off the court, its apparent that the guy had a very fragile ego and is very insecure. The flip side of that is his insecurities are probably what drove his insane drive and work ethic to be the very best, a prime example of that was during his HOF speech where all he had to do was to embrace the platform they gave him and show gratitude. Conversely, he took that opportunity to bash his old foes. Very insecure man but very successful too, the ying and the yang.

    • @johnpu605
      @johnpu605 Рік тому +3

      Not sure it's "insecurity" about MJ. IMHO, he is extremely secure, especially with his basketball skills. He just hates to lose, both mentally and physically. Not to say that I can understand that mentality, but I just think it takes extreme approach to be extremely successful. If you conform to the standards, then most likely you are just a normal human being. Nothing wrong with that either, just you are not successful.

    • @Marcus-gw4bb
      @Marcus-gw4bb Рік тому +10

      @@johnpu605 So you say he hates to lose. Let me ask you this. Why do hyper competitive people hate to lose? One could argue that they are afraid of how others might perceive them. Of losing the status/reputation that they build for themselves. All of which stems from insecurity. Conversely, why does it feel so good to win? Because it puts you directly under the spotlight. Because it boosts your pride and ego. Barkley said it many times in the past that he never had a real job and was so lucky to be able to play a stupid basketball and still earn the big bucks. MJ may have basketball intelligence but Charles has something not many people have: wisdom.

    • @snakebitten6967
      @snakebitten6967 Рік тому +1

      Or you can look at it from his historical behavior dealing with failure over his whole career.
      MJ clearly said “you supposed to be my boy”. That means it’s about betrayal NOT insecurity as you are trying to say. MJ lost a whole lot in the NBA so he is used to losing. What Charles did was seen as betrayal of their friendship. Now, you can argue whether he is correct on viewing it as betrayal, but nothing about his response to failure in the past should lead anyone to conclude its insecurity.
      A person of MJ’s status in this world don’t have many friends they can trust so when you think you have one solid in your corner and then you hear what Charles said on the airwaves, I can see someone like MJ reacting this way.
      It’s excessive but that is his personality.

    • @johnpu605
      @johnpu605 Рік тому

      @@Marcus-gw4bb Nah, nah, nah. I completely disagree with you. I am not a psychology major, but can easily tell if a person is hyper-competitive or he is just insecure. As a matter of fact, I see little connection between these two traits. Insecure people would simply back off from competition, e.g., those who has stage-freights wouldn't even go on stage. People with inner insecurity wouldn't have much confidence at whatever they are doing also. So all in all, by looking at MJ or Kobe, you can never say they are insecure. If anything, they are at the other end of the spectrum.
