I was surprised they didn't reopen Fountainhall Station. It was a well known stop in the Waverley days. I noticed it wasn't included when i went down to Galashlels 3 years ago.
They were not going to build Stow station until a local group made the case. There is a very sparse population at Fountainhall and Heriot I don't think there would be a strong case for a station unless a lot more houses wee built. The other factor in build any other stations is the extra time the stops would take making it difficult to complete the return trip form Edinburgh in under 2 hours. Stow only gets hourly trains during the day with trains either stopping there on the way down or up. This is required to help with the tight journey times on the route.
@@WaverleyWanderer Thanks. It is sparsely populated and yes it would as you say add extra time to the present time of under 2 hours , Thanks for you excellent film and the information.
We have not had any snow this winter. In fact I was hoping to film the line in snow covered condition however we have not had much snow since it openned in September 2015 so the opertunity has never arisen.
We have had a very snow free winter also until last night, when we received about 1/2 inch along with an arctic air blast. Temperature is 15 F this AM. Trains always look good in the snow, steam or diesel.
The Borders Railway in all its glory! brilliant film

Happy New Year! Nice views of the countryside and the abandoned line. Have you had any snowstorms on the line thus far this winter?
