Wonderfully captured footage Allan! Gala is a pretty wee town and the hills of the Southern Uplands make a great backdrop. It's great to see Gala back on the railway map and even better to see John Cameron's A4 bashing the borders metals. When I watched your opening clip I reminisced of how many classic locos there walls must have seen. Quite apart from all the classic LNER types, such A1, 2, 3, 4, V2, B1 D49 etc, also the old NBR locos such as the 4-4-0s NB Atlantics, and freight 0-6-0s. Some NER and GNR locos also travelled regularly on it. What a heritage and it's back in action. Now its onward to Carlisle - hope I live long enough to see THAT day! Thanks for a wonderful video. Ken
Thanks for your comments Ken. What a lovely town this is. I have been thro only once and that was my previous pass the day before the Waverley closed in 69. Great to see the towns served by rail again and these steam excursions are a big success with sold out trains. Great for the Borders area and it's people. Cheers. Allan.
+D1002 Western Explorer Thanks very much Dave. I only travelled the line once before this and that was on an excursion the day before it closed. IOts great to see part of it open once more. Regards - Allan.
Great footage at Galashiels Allan....Nice to see U of SA...I imagined that there would have been a few near misses with the cars as their Drivers might be fascinated to see a Steam Loco on their left/right side !! Have a good Holiday...Best wishes...Steve.~
Nice video from Galashiels Allan with some nice bonus views of the town. That's one mighty busy road next to the station. Look forward to more of your videos after your break. Cheers, Jeff.
+Anthony Cooper Many thanks Anthony. It was a nice journey, even on a diesel unit and the line was very busy indeed. I think it's going to be a very popular line. I'm going to enjoy the two week break then back with more rail videos. Best wishes - Allan.

great video Allan, the first picture looks realy beautiful !!! thumbs up and greatings from germany Alex
What a pity the budget couldn't have run to providing stations with anything other than bus shelters. But that's what happens when politicians control everything, I suppose. The North British Railway would've realised the importance of making a proper statement of their presence.
Thanks Andrei for your comments. The bus shelters and iron bridges are quite a feature of the line giving it a quite clinical drab look unfortunately. Nice scenery between stations thankfully. Cheers. Allan.
Great shots, a line re-opening is always a massive event. Well captured.
That was quite something - opening up a lengthy stretch of the old Waverley Route. Good for you recording it for us.
+balmesh Thanks for your comments. Its great for the Borders area of Scotland with this part opening.
Cheers - Allan.
Great shot thanks for all your videos
Thanks for watching Vincent. Regards. Allan.
