Nice addition to the channel! A budget pickup series someday would also be a nice addition :0) Such as Guitar Madness/Guitar Parts Zone/Wilkinson/Donlis etc.
You are right . . . But the pickups for the FFDC guitar are not Budget friendly as far as pickups go. I ordered the Dylan Pickups for that guitar. I do have a set of Budget P90's we could use..... As far as this Pedal series . . . . Let's say the next video is going to be all PEDALS ! ! ! ...Hint " and it sounds good . . . . And I did pickup another Dist. Pedal that is crunchier to 80's rock. So, the next video in this series should be really cool ! OH .... and its good to have ya BACK ! my friend...
I have the Joyo Extreme Metal and Joyo vintage overdrive. I use them both together on all three of my amps and they sound killer! I have a Joyo Zombie II, Blackstar HT5R combo and a EVH 5150 40 watt 1x12 combo. I get really good 80’s thrash metal tones with this pedal.
I also have the Joyo American.... It doesn't get REALLY dirty... but it is really good at the 80's mid overdrive sound... Great at the blues-rock tones. So, between the two I can cover a lot of different tones. They both work well boosting the over drive channel on my HT20 Blackstar. and work well going into the clean channel ...Boosting and Driving. Great pedals for the cost !!!! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this pedal ! Hope you check out some of the other videos here on the channel !
This is an interesting and entertaining video. I'm sold on the premise of this potential series and look forward to seeing how it evolves. Thanks. All the best!
Just received the last two pedals today in the mail.... About 15 mins ago.. LOL 1st pedal that came today is...The JOYO American Sound ( dist pedal that has more of a sweep on the gain ) should be able to get more edge of breakup and mid-high gain sounds. 2nd pedal that came today is the JOYO Digital Delay. So next video we will try some pedals in the Effects Loop and the American Sound Dist pedal In-Front of the amp... We will Also try the Extreme Metal In-Front as well.
My wife and I both use the rack mounted equipment and pedals as well as molders SIMS simulstors.. See Boss and Donner Arena 2000 you can record into for CD'S special effects Audio recordings to like Spotify Reverb UA-cam etc.. and you can pre set it for your sets in your performance. As well as blue tooth 🔵 📱 so it can be operated by phone laptop 💻 pc etc you can have tablet or phone on mike stand. Or can be operated like pedals.. A lot of artist are moving to this. For less to transport etc.. Cheers 🥃🥃 🍻 🎸 🎵🎶🎵
Ya.... I have a Line6 HX stomp.... guitar into that and then right to front of house. The monitors become your stage cab. I get it.... I don't like the programing in the Line 6 for Quick changes... I can see the pedal thing just being a lot to setup.. a lot of patch cords... ext... AND my rack system... I have to be playing two nights with 3 full sets each night before I even think about moving it. and if it's a small place... I take the Blackstar HT20 with my Ibanez Pedal and the Alesis Quadra Verb2 .It gets the job done.
@@DominionFretWorks yes I definitely get that also the place you're giging at the clientele the security all dictate the equipment that comes including amps cabs guitars etc... Also Time & size of place. Money paid for gig... IMO... definitely... Cheers 🍻🥃🥃🎸🎵🎶
Very reminiscent of the sound of Accept, or that's who I first thought of. There were others that came to mind as you adjusted the knobs. Can you clean it up any at the volume pot of guitar, or does the pedal just cut through at any volume level (guitar)? Another question that came to mind is how does it compare to the dirty channel on the Blackstar, or did I miss that part? Sounds decent if that's the sound you're looking for. Very budget friendly for sure. I'm thinking it could really do wonders with just a small basic amp, no tubes, for a small budget situation. 🤘
The Gain channel on the Blackstar doesn't break up the same. More of a Mashall / Laney tone . This is more of a Friedman or Engl sound. I didn't run the Pedal though the gain channel on the Blackstar. I was shooting for a stand-alone gain pedal so you could turn it off and still have a clean channel. The Blackstar does have a channel pedal to switch between channels. Sorry I didn't think about doing that. This is my First Pedal review, and I will learn what I should do and not do as you guys tell me.... LOL and when you guys point things out to me. I will do better JERRY ! ! ! ! This channel is about learning and trying things. This time I think the JOYO pedal with the Alesis MV4 is a great setup. 140 bucks for the Alesis MV4 40 Bucks for the JOYO Extreme Metal Pedal So, 180 dollars... A used ART X-11 you can be picked up for 30 to 50 dollars on Reverb so you can change the FX in the Alesis. you could have up to 100 effect blocks or Pre-Sets. Then if you use the Blackstar channel foot switch you could change between the two channels on the amp. The JOYO has 2 switches.. Your Gain on-off switch and the Boost. So, I think for under 220 bucks to have 100 presets with 2 tube channels to go between and a boost... That is Good ! The Blackstar HT2.0 is running around 750 now... So, under 1000.00 for everything. Thats is cheaper than most 2 channel tube amps from other Vendors. You have the best of both worlds... Warm Tube sound, with a true fx loop and a solid-state front gain stage... that could be dialed back and used as a combo gain stage into the Blackstar. Let the JOYO gain stage boost the gain stage in the Blackstar... and still have the Boost switch on the JOYO for your lead. I will learn more about how to demo pedals as I go... Thanks Jerry you have pointed out things that I should do and things I should think about for the next video. There are so many ways of doing this setup... Just setting here typing I'm thinking of other ways to really make this better ! ! !
@DominionFretWorks Hey, just questions that came to mind.... don't beat me up 🤣 I strongly agree that for less than a grand, that's quite the setup. Just curious how that pedal would expand a basic run of the mill budget amp for someone just getting started with a shallow pocket. Definitely worthy of running with the more expensive pedals from what I hear. The parameters given to tweak the sound from the pedal are impressive at that price point. 🤘
Yeah good cause ihad a zoom h2 , they were the first or there about and i was blown away how well it picked up the exact sound from my fender gt 💯.. and they are still cheap , i still cant get over how good your sound is and its better than so many good utubers who have 1000s into their sound.. will be listening to your added pedal sounds to it now with anticipation...
I had 2 Adat's back in the day... They are still good recording units... 1.5 inch reel to reel MAN the tone and the sound ... DAW's just don't have the playback tone. This is why you see so many using tube line amps to color the output. I have a Tascam DP32 now .. it replaced my Adat's. The sound is good and it's easy to use. But the DAW is king now... I just haven't jump on-board with it yet. I like to be able to turn a knob... LOL
Was in the market to get a new pedal and i watched alot of videos about this pedal, until i saw the tc electronics fangs pedal i went w the fangs and am not disappointed at all,the extreme metal pedal is the affordable version of the mxr fullbore metal, the mxr pedal has a built in noise gate vs the extreme metal pedal, you know i grew up in the late 70s, 80s and van halen just came out and later in years i got my first guitar,it was a harmony strat knock off,i wired the middle and bridge together and made a humbucker, love taking stuff apart and seeing how it worked and putting it back together and hoping it worked after lol but the rack mounted gear is so 80s its not funny but incredibly cool, love it
Today there are so many ways of getting that sound....... I really didn't think this was going to sound as good as it did. I was impressed by the tone and sound this was giving me. It is hard to beat 4 effects for 130 bucks... The Alesis MV4 for what they are selling for now is crazy ! ! ! ! I have a Line 6 HX stomp .... and this is as good or better sounding.... and much easier to quick sounds from. It seems to work better with the AMP as far as dialing in sounds. Love my Line 6 HX stomp it has become my trip amp... When I take trips .. I take the Line 6 HX stomp, a set of headphones and my Headless NK guitar. Really great for that. This setup I would do for an open mic night or a small bar setup. Maybe they don't have a front of house PA system. You could pull this off with this setup and still have 100 presets with 2 gain stages and a clean channel. A tube rig for under 1000.00 dollars... Not too bad...
I did see that pedal..... I didn't go that way due to the CabSim on it. I'm sure you can turn that off... I was shotting for a pedal to run In-Front of the Amp. But I can see the Chopper Z having the Plus of being able to run right to the input board front of house. Not sure how the Effects loop would work in that case..... This company seems to have a lot of stuff. and the pricing is just crazy low.
There is a Alesis Multi verb4 on the effects loop 1) BlackStar HT20 amp 700.00 NEW 2) Alesis Multi-Verb 4 on the effects loop 150.00 USED all day long 3) Joyo Extreme going into the input of the amp. 50.00 NEW Total amp cost 900.00 bucks and you can get any sound you want.... and its TUBE SOUND !
How did you record this sound , its loud and perfect thru 1 dollar earplugs... About the best on utube for sound clarity and nuances.. sounds like you're playing in a huge metal barrel with more stacks than YJM ! ...definitely loud is better huh , great playing !was into every string movement!!!!!!
I just use an open mic in the room.... The delay and small amount of chorus adds to the tone. I spent maybe 2 hours just playing around with setting... Going back and hearing after 2 months .... My delay time is off a little ( the repeat volume on the repeats is a little to loud ) But I think the chorus in the chain is good. If I were to go back and do this over... I would use less delay volume on the repeats on the delay. the setting @19:42 are the best sounding with the delay and chorus as it was set. The pedal setting work with all the other setting well. Remember you have a room you are recording in.... the mic picks up room reverb as well... Sometimes the record tone changes due to the room.. What we hear sometimes is not what the mic is hearing... It a hit and miss thing. once you find the spot you got it... But you have to play around with your setting ... record it... play it back and then make 1 change at a time... That way you know what the 1 change has done. The big thing I have found is the volume input into the room mic... Vs what I hear as the volume... Your mic has to have the tone your looking for at its location not where your setting... I do not use anything High end on my recording... VHDC video edit... Video is done with 2 or 3 GoPro10's with SM57's as mics. each mic will sound different as they are in different locations... Sometimes I use 1 mic in the mix sometimes I use a blend. The reflects from walls and stuff in the room changes what each mic hears... Most use the mic next to the cone of the drive... nothing wrong with that.. but you loss your room tone.... Some people blend the cone mic with a room mic to add fullness to there recording. I have a long way to go before my recording is to my liking... We are all learning! Play around with what you have and try to get the best out of what you have... There are so many recordings done with SM57's it's the work horse mic ... and they don't cost much. GoPro10's .... they get hot and over heat... But they record audio and video well as long as you play to it rules.. Gopro's don't like a high input volume.... find the sweet spot where you can gain it up in your editing software... not so much that you over gain... you can punch it up a little... but not much. what your hearing in this video was record on a GpPro10 with a SM57 mic plugged into the goPro10... 2 of these were used... with a gopro8 just for video over the pedal so you could see the settings.
@@DominionFretWorks do you think you would have very similar results with a zoom series handheld held recorder ... Great explaining, so does it sound like that without you recording anything but straight from that black star or like you said it took a while to find the perfect placement of the mic to run straight into the gopro recorder... In stereo must have been important with a different delay for each recorder for your room sonics.. how much of a difference did or would it have made recording in mono.
@@Allan-ts1ux Zoom made a Handheld DAT recorder back in the day ... JUST GREAT ... it was GREAT !!! Yes, you can get good audio from that zoom... Get a good microphone... The SM57 is the recording man's work horse....But find one that fits your liking...SM57 beta is a little better ... but it is also less forgiving. find a room that works... reflections can hurt you and help you... If your recording guitar... Try a bathroom with tile walls.... set your cab in the bathroom and try moving the mic around to different locations in the room. Make sure you're not clipping your input. You want the RED clip just to trip every now and then... or just be under the red clip...Get that level set each time... move your cab and mic locations... Remember the room is making an effect... So your DSP ( Effects need to be set to work with the room.) if the room has a lot of tile you will need to lower the level of reverb from your wet mix... ( effects loop or the control on the amp ) A little chorus goes a long way.. adds a lot of depth to the tone. Delay will full out the space between the notes... Your repeat times need to match the Q-notes per min. In other words your delay timing needs to be in time with your playing....If not you get a muddy sound. My room is Hardwood floors with Plaster walls ...So I GET A LOT OF REFLECTIONS... Cabs ( open back cabs give me more rear wall reflections) so the mic will need to be a little closer to the cab ( more inline with the drive but maybe 2 or 3 feet away... the greater the distance the more room effect you will get.
