Ola can make everything chug. A real Chug Norris.
Yeah, especially when you put it through a $2100 amp and $1200 cabinet using a $1000+ guitar, which is going to be the most common setup for people buying a $30 pedal.
@@YaYousef5 been saying this for long time as well. It's not even realistic, although he has a few good ones.
Excellent
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍
@@YaYousef5 LOL what. He's running it through the FX loop, so he's just using a clean channel essentially. And pickups don't flavourful things up as much as you think. What a moronic take 🤣
I'd love to see you do an entire rig of harley bentons for Will It Chug. Guitar, amp and pedals
I totally support this
I think the HB Warlock would be awsome for that video
@@casperthuresson862 true, but can he do it with a resophonic into a FRFR cabinet
That. Is. Hot. As balls..
Tube 15 combo!
thanks for the review! Not surprised it sounds pretty good, most HB gear is solid. After you discovered (or publicized at least), that the metal zone sounds good when used as a preamp going into the effects return, I'm surprised we haven't had more demos/reviews distortions/overdrives that test both in front of the amp and into the return
I have the joyo extreme metal which is literally the same thing, it’s been my go to pedal for like two years now and to see ola using it is kinda trippy haha
I dig the Pocket Metal, through a zeroed out chorus as a filter. A lot of Joyo circuits are available at as little as half the price, from Saphue, Kmise and a few others that are literally the same pedal, with different branding.
Ah it’s that Joyo pedal. No wonder it looked super familiar. I have the Joyo Uzi and I love it. I may want to take a look at this one too
@@springbloom5940 ah I see
@@ahmadfarisrosli7597 you should, for 40 bucks it sounds way better than some of the really expensive pedals I have !
@@dimebagiommi6888
Joyo appears to be a OEM and heavy licenser. Theres a ton of pedals that Im 99% positive are Joyo circuits, I just don't have the specs to prove it. But, the Pocket Metal, for instance, is available in a different housing, as the Saphue/Kmise Crunch Distortion, but it actually has Pocket Metal printed on the board. So, its actually using Joyo OEM circuit boards. Not to be confused with the Joyo Crunch Distortion, which is a MI Crunchbox clone(yeah, weird and confusing naming scheme). To my knowledge, though, all the other Joyo licensed and OEM circuits have the same name as the Joyo.
I finally got one of these pedals a couple of weeks ago, and have to say I am very impressed with the sound I'm getting from plugging my Kramer 7 string through it. I do agree with what you say about the boost feature on this, but overall I think it's better than quite a few of the higher priced pedals on the market, especially when you consider the price!!! So nice one for this review!!! 😀
I got one of these last year, after finding put that the distorsion on my Blackstar Fly3 was very medioker. I absolutely love this pedal! The sound is as good as the price, it fits well in my tiny, cheap, rig.
As soon as I saw "Will it chug?", I came in running
I have a Harley Benton SC-Custom II Les paul type guitar and I absolutely love it. Could not be more pleased!
Awesome video as always. That Solar looks awesome as well.
The way Domination sounded through this whole rig... Damn yo... Beautiful
Great video, good pedal, beautiful guitar and El Swede muy guapo!!
Not bad for a budget pedal, I love my Joyo vintage overdrive pedal for boost, does the job for sure.
I've got my laptop plugged into a Marshall practice amp at the moment, and that pedal sounds rather nice!!! Been on the look out for a decent low price distortion pedal for a while now, and this one fits the bill, especially because of the sound Ola gets from it at the end of the review!!! 😀
That Tele shaped Solar is awesome! 🔥🔥🤘😊🤘🔥🔥
Yes I have that at home, and yearh its a good alternative! I See no Problem with this pedal! Nice Video as always Ola!
I listen to Ola videos whilst playing guitar and such and so I wasn’t paying attention to the video and when he started playing domination I looked up and saw the Solar and out loud said “Holy Fuck what is that?” New favorite Solar finish
I love the little quick riff from Seed of Filth. Love that song.
Same! Too bad Barnes is getting so much hate these days. Six Feet Under was great back in the day.
@@mitchcobain9411 yeah. I don't really listen to hate. It doesn't mean anything to me. I just keep listening to what I like.
I personally love HB stuff. This pedal sounds nice too, specially for the money. I have 2 guitars of them, and i love em. First gotta learn to actually play, and safe up money to some day get myself a Solar. But HB is making it difficult with so many nice guitars that one can buy without really thinking about it too much.
I think that boost is for leads, leave the boost knob low and you won't need to turn down the high eq. That way it just gives lift on the high end a bit so the lead solo can cut through then disengage for the riffage! :D
Well chuggily duggily do there, neighbor! 🤘
This pedal sounded pretty f---ing rad with the Pantera riffs.
Great vid man! Been looking for a good distortion pedal again so I think I might snag this one up for now considering the price
The tone from 5:08-5:18 I thought sounded really crisp, tight, but still chunky! Loved that.
great review love your solar teles
Totally agree , the boost is useless, but without it's rather good. Also got the joyo high gain distortion, find it more accurate, with less noise (and perhaps a little less gain), one to be tested !
Beautiful guitar have a great day Ola
Finding new "Will It Chug" videos' in my feed is like finding stickers in a new pedal box. You know they are gonna be there, but you are still somehow excited when you see them.
Simply the best guitar youtuber / content creator on the planet!
Great knowledge, awesome riffing and very funny too.
Great video as always Ola!!!!!
I think Harley benton is making a lot of guitars and equipment for a extremely great price
Yeah. The 2x12 g212a vintage cab looks amazing for the price
Its because its shilled everywhere.
@@tuulenkoti i mean people shill them because they actually make decent stuff. And even if something's off u will at least get a replacement/refund.
indeed some HB pieces are good, others only average. But keep in mind that Solar Guitars have lots of output and the used valve amp is a high quality device so the cab is too. If ones gear is no of such fine quality the results in guitar tone may vary alot.
i have this pedal and it sounds good because of the amp and cab ola has, with my amp it sounds like fucking shit
That's an exact copy of the Joyo extreme metal , and it definitely chugs. I use it all the time. Both buttons on with a distortion or TS9 for serious crunch!
the joyo is a clone of a Metal Muff With Top Boost. Underrated pedal imo
@@Isnak Agree!
its the OEM
There is a lot to be said from this group of pedals. The "British" pedal (Marshall-in-a-box) in this range is as broad a distortion as you'd need, in front of an amp or desk. For less than £40. Perfect!
Is it a shred master clone?? ( the British one) that would be good
I have a Joyo British Sound, for a price range about 30$, i can say i'm very impressed from that thing. Use it with the Joyo Ultimate Drive (25$) to boost the British Sound, or using the old Zoom G1 for cabinet sim + chorus + delay + reverb. Right now I'm saving money for Joyo Oxford Sound (Orange Amp Model)
@@kemalfachrullah2848 The Joyo extreme metal also sounds awesome , nice and crunchy! I have a few of there's also , the Dyna Compressor and 6 band EQ work well...
Which brand is that? Harley Benton too?
@@iseeu-fp9poAs far as i know, Harley Benton pedal rebrand the Joyo pedal.
HB have been making some really good quality affordable gear for a while now. I still can't believe I bought one of their 2x12 cabs loaded with v30's that are cheaper than actually buying 2 v30 speakers on their own 😂.
I think the first thing I would try with this pedal is adding and eq in the loop to sort out those honky mids, might work for an 80's lead tone but I'm not a fan of a honky chugg personally.
Man This Really sounds good. I'm thinking about getting one. Thank you for this video man. Have a good day. Your channel Rock's. Been watching since 2017
That thing sounds dope, I'm getting one now!
Well, I got one, and it sounds nothing like your sound. I'm playing it through a Mesa Nomad 45 2x12 with the Celestion Vintage 30s and using a 96 Japanese Rg with a JB in the bridge, but it's not as brutal sounding as yours. I also play through a Line 6 Pod HD Pro X and KRK Rokit 5's and can get your tone, I don't get it.
I have this pedal and have grown to quite like it into a spare pa in the practice room.
have to knock down the treble knob for sure. Boost on at about 9 o'clock to 11, kind of just like Ola set it at 7:09
That guitar is just gorgeous! 🤌🤌
Hi Ola. I think you can, in theory, make the screechy boost work (even with highs all the way up) if you dial back the boost knob. Be sure to try it out when you have some spare time on your hands!
The pedal has on my board the Boss MT2 chasing away the Boss ML2 and the Digitech Metal Master. The Harley Benton Extreme Metal is the best metal pedal I've ever had. The reference pedal for metal
The Ac Tone (Vox AC30 based) is quite good as a boost surprisingly enough. The versatilty for about £30odd is top notch 👍
@Ola Englund this pedal looks just like the pedal I use but with a different name mine is the Caline Tantrum they are awesome for live use in the effects loop or recording😀🤘🤘
I want to see Ola do the Sabbra Cadabra by Catalinbread Effects next. We all know it chugs already but would love to see what he does with it.
Love love LOVE that pedal
Interesting thing. Quite nice sounding metal pedal with metal in name, also with kind of metal zone mode
Will love to see you reviewing Harley Benton guitars as well, mainly their infamous amarok models.
Beautiful guitar
I think I’d use the boost for solos to kinda cut thru a little bit more. Get the rhythm tone without the boost and then bump it just a fuzz so it’s just above the whole band for solos.
Bro Im digging the shit outta this guitar
how nice and chimmey is the clean tone! Pew Pew!
Love the orbit culture shirt🤘
Just commented about Domination in another video!!!! Love ya Ola!!!
Well I just picked up the Fortin 33 because I needed a distortion pedal but I needed a boost pedal, too. It claimed to take your amp to high gain territory so I figured I'd see if it would take my Laney Cub 12R into high gain distortion. Yep. It was not a problem lol. Looks like I made the right choice 🤘
Nice shirt Ola. Love Orbit Culture!
Really awesome! At that price. Nice!!! oh..wait..now..I had to check it out. I found only the behringer(deathbringer) UM100 pedal. Well, HB ed...sounds great. Oh fjärt, I also have a HB guitar with a FR. Arse...
Love you man .
I have the Joyo version. The boost is for leads in a live setting otherwise it's very harsh
That's a gorgeous axe
I guess the boost knob controls the amount of boost engagement? which is why it sounded much sharper when turned on.
I have the Joyo version......LOVE this pedal
Review one of their guitars. I bought their Jim Root KO guitar. I love it, for what it is. Changed the tuners.
I WANT THAT EXACT GUITAR! so beautiful...
Im suprised how similar it sounded to the tone on pull me under
It’s affordable enough to try, if just to add a different flavor to ya rig. 🤘🏽
Someone should make a distortion pedal called the bee hive and have a high trem boost switch on it called ''Release the bees''.
Check out Beetronics
Not the bees!
Million dollar idea right there.
If you mess around with the Boss Metalzone Mt-2, you can get that angry bee sound.
Dimebag was the master of bees.
DOMINATION!
Love will it chugg its how i discovered u.
impressive little product
Ah I see the boost is different on this to the Caline pedal as the boost is more of an OD clean boost thing I keep boost on & put most of the settings around 12 oclock apart from the gain
that pick was yeeted back to the 90's
Love the guitar!! Hot Rod Red🔥🔥🔥
Perfect for smooth Jazz. 😊
Absolutely
I like the Solar Tele a lot.
I have the Joyo extreme metal which is basically the same as the HB extreme metal. I compared it with my EHX nano metal muff and the EHX metal with top boost the JOYO is my favorite out of the three but they're all great for chugs
Sounds good
More Harley Benton!!!!
it sounds good
It not only is cheap and looks cheap it also sounds cheap. Amazing!
hey man, have you considered creating another sick IR from this HESU 412 with Demon speakers? please?
I've been using the THE ONE IR, and it's simply the best one so far.
cheers!
That is a sick axe 🎸
The "Boost knob" is to adjust the level of boost only when engaged... you've set it up too high... which is the reason that when you engaged it, in conjunction with the "High knob" that is already leveled up, the sound went off the scale... you need to adjust it only as much just to cut thru a song when you're about to play a solo part...
Yup, you are right on the money on the Metal Muff thing. This pedal IS a Metal Muff clone, for good and bad.
Is the boost function maybe boosting Volume after the Distortion section? Then it would bring the Amplifiers input or Effect Loop to distort which might leed to the bright and nasti sound. Just guessing here...
damn nice pedal
To my ears, when it was dialed in, the tone kinda reminded me of a boxy replication of the guitar tone from Primal Fear's "Black Sun" album.
Man that guitar is nice
It almost seems to have a slight chorus effect especially with the gain at max. Interesting pedal.
This is what i am waiting for after i bought this almost 6 months ago,,
Ola I think it would be nice doing a will it chug video trying out the Line6 catalyst
i have this pedal. don't use it much since i prefer the Harley Benton/Joyo AC Tone pedal (i like chang over chug) but the Extreme Metal has come in handy on a few occasions. i keep it tucked away in the box until i need it. at the price point one can afford the luxury.
Ola it shreds more than chugs. Would be great for some thrash or Pantera swing.
I have the Joyo version and the battery hatch is way too small to be useful. To change the battery I need to remove the entire back cover. The pedal itself is fine though.
I gotta get one of those tele style solars.
This is the same as the Joyo pedal (others have noted this). I don’t have this pedal, but I got the Joyo flanger and adore it.
Joyo and Tantrum
Nice guitar, I like sound of alder body :)
Domination is one of the best song to test metal chug!! 🤟
Hey, Ola.Can you test the brand new Boss effect processor gx-100 ?
sounds so good
This is JOYO !!!
I was getting dimebag vibes when it was boosted before you put it in the loop
Harley Benton is pretty satisfying with their products and their low prices…
Agreed. They're changing the game in the budget guitar world.
^plenty of 1:1 pedal copies on the market, with identical circuitry and all that crap as these expensive pedals but with much smaller price, nothing groundbreaking here. F.e. Behringer.
@@aw2584 do you even read? I'm talking about guitars, not pedals. OP was talking about Harley Benton in general. Also, not all the pedals are that cut and dry. Not even close.
@@jeremyrafuse5330 thats the thing about the term "guitar world" that it implies it revolutionises everything within the guitar "universe" and obviously, electric guitars wouldnt be much without amps and pedals so a term like that kinda implies you were talking about all HB products.
But anyway as for your point.... meh. Maybe within bass guitar market ive noticed a lot (if not majority) of extremely cheap bass guitars that are still acceptable qualitywise are harley bentons, especially when i dig through second hand shops, last week i found the basic HB bass guitar for like 20 pounds and it wasnt that bad sounding at all lmao
But for electric guitars? Yamaha, Ibanez (especially Ibanez), Squiers (although they used to be better), dozens of smaller producers who are on the same level as HB if not better within the same pricerange
I aint mad at them or something but meh, theyre cool, nothing revoluionary
@@aw2584 ok Karen
Chuggalugga 🤘
Ola bro, can you make one of those harley benton tube 15 combos chug? Do it up!
I think this a really good metal distortion pedal good value for money I think you should get 1 Ola I'm going to get one he'll yeah it chugs good stuff.
