- I recently completed the second engine for my 1:60 scale model 777-300ER. Here's a peek at all the work that goes into building each GE90-115B out of manila file folders (the design process was not included in this video). Over 70 hours of footage was captured and trimmed down to create this timelapse. Some parts of the process were omitted for the sake of time, but I will try to upload a separate extended cut to show the full construction process at a slower speed. Enjoy!
Music:

* Fair warning: the plans are mostly unlabeled and arranged for maximal space efficiency, and there isn't currently a construction guide (aside from this video), so you're on your own 😅
Some stats:
• Construction took place between early November 2023 and mid-May 2024
• Over 70 hours/2.5 terabytes of video was recorded
• Recorded with a Panasonic Lumix GH4 (Olympus M Zuiko 12-40mm f/2.8 lens)
• Editing was done in Final Cut Pro concurrently with the construction process
The fact that most of the detail is hidden inside when its finished, to me, demonstrates a passion beyond comprehension. 👍🏻
Thank you! A lot of the structure is hidden, but some of it is still visible when the thrust reversers are deployed: ua-cam.com/video/-fdD-espjbo/v-deo.htmlsi=PnANphV6jIeMqF1K
@@lucaiaconistewart 😳 … i think i need to take another look at my modelling… one can simply not ignore such inspiration. 👍🏻
MOM WAKE UP, LUCA JUST POSTED AGAINNN
The fact that you cut that stuff out by hand and not use a Cricut or a laser cutter is insane. Your channel should have over 1M subscribers.
just got another one now
That’s how we built things back then buddy 😂 technology makes it easier but less fun sometimes ;)
Cutting by hand is all part of the enjoyment
When you showed the model had moving parts I literally swore out loud. This is an insane level of detail and work. Amazing.
i too swore out loud many times while building it 😂
I still cannot comprehend how one person can be so talented 🤯
It's really cool how those turbine blades are formed out of a single crystal of paper.
I wasn't sure if they were gonna work out at first, but the wetting technique really helped.
I'm always blown away by your work. Thanks for the amazing documentation
Chill bro a paper model of 777 engine won't blown you away ;)
amazing as always. As a paper artist i'm blown away with your technique, thank you for sharing the process, it inspires me more to work on my skill out of my comfort zone and the soaking of water and patiently molding the paper, man you're a master of this art not to mention precision and the engineering with this built. i also love the way you film your work.
Thank you so much! Cheers to paper modeling haha
Oh wow! Just recently I was thinking about some guy that years ago made mechanical landing gear out of paper that inspired me to start working on foldable paper contraptions and pop up books. Today Tom Scott reminded me of who that was! Thanks Luca!
yep, still at it. thanks!
This video blew my mind and made my day at the same time... I've been scratchbuilding for some years now, but your skill to turn paper into a semi-functional jet engine is just mind boggling... Kudos.
These are god tier levels of skill. Amazing job and dedication.
I thought it was a really old video at first, just because of the integrity and quality content.
True commitment and perfection, I drop what im doing when these videos release! I cannot wait for the wing..
you and me both! hard to believe i started the wing designs almost 10 years ago, ugh
@@lucaiaconistewart I’d assume you’re doing this in between your work life, so 10 years isn’t bad going! Don’t rush the wing! Enjoy the process.
Easily the most underrated channel on UA-cam!
Agreed, horribly underrated. I think people prefer daily entertainment. I LOVE that we get these jewels in the methodical timeline expected any artistic masterpiece.
This is the best video I have ever seen, and will ever see again.
Once I saw this build, I understood exactly how the thrust reversal works, thank you very much!
Just like a gold medal winner at the Olympic Games, you make it look easy. Amazing artwork.
No way....
An edited and music's video just for an engine!?
You're spoiling us!
This is my first time ever seeing how those reverse thrusters work. For some reason I never even considered that when it pulls back that there’s all those individual flaps that fold out.
I wanted to document it before it got covered up - glad it was informative!
amazing! thank you for keeping this project going! Love, Love, Love to see your work!
Awesome! Really well done!
As always, amazing technical work, and gorgeous results, Luca!
wow, man that`s incredible amount of work. And result looks just amazing! Keep going!
Incredible 😮🤩
at 5:18 I was just like: "that isn't just for one thrust reverser flap, is it?" and a mere 7 seconds later my worst fears were confirmed
Hahahaha!!!! Yeah the whole thing is a "fear confirmeld" lol.
loooool yeah that's basically this whole project. you think you're done and then there's like 17 more to do smh
Wow! Great work, I have never seen such a detailed engine model anywhere! I'm really looking forward to a more detailed build video❤️🔥
This is absolutely amazing!
This is the most AMAZING video ON UA-cam!!!!!!!! this entire channel is amazing!!!!!!!1
thank you (for your enthusiasm) haha
I've got to say that I am totally impressed by your work, engineering, attention to detail, and especially a great amount of patience. We'll done!
Its absolutely ridiculous how good this is! So many tiny, fiddly bits and all cut out by hand! Bravo!
Music sync with the hand movements was mint too!
Brilliant model making and even better editing. Cutting on the beat and making it look good!
I have no words. 🙌🙌🙌
Yeah, the moving parts with hinges just takes this to a different level. Bravo.
There are no words to adequately describe this chaps' skill level and attention to detail. Was especially impressed by the technique used to create the double curvature intake fan blades, and the little male/female press tool for that.
❤ I envy your skill and precision
One word......MESMERIZING!!!!!! Fantastic, congratulations beyond understanding.
Another impressive work!
I'm amazed by the manufacturing process, it's incredible how one and only person can carry out work like that, frankly hats off 👏
Произведение инженерно-технического искусства человечества, повторили в произведение модельно-бумажного искусства человечества. Если ни чем не ограничивать труд человека, человек сможет всё! 😍
Brilliant precision work!
Very nice 👍👍
This is such obsuredly incredible work! Nicely done!
This guy is an absolute madman. Functioning thrust-reversing mechanism, out of paper. The whole thing is simply incredible... Great Work!
Simply outstanding as always!
Love it ✈️
Keep it up
This is absolutely brilliant stuff
I built the real thing for 18 years, from the start of the program to around the 600th engine. Nice paper version!!
Have you experimented with laser cut paper parts? It may reduce the hand crafted feeling too much, but it could make all the pieces more exact. Plus with paper as thin as that, there wont be residue buildup on the edges, or at least not much. As always, very impressive stuff. It has been wonderful to watch along as you build your little planes.
Oh trust me, the thought has crossed my mind. But I actually enjoy cutting by hand. Something meditative about it :)
@@lucaiaconistewart Was about to ask if you though about buying a plotter or those don't have high enough resolution for your purposes, but this clears things up ^^
Much respect, it takes the patience of a saint and the skill of master engineer.
2:53 to 2:57 Aligning those concentric paper cones at that scale - I've tried something like that in the past and it frustrated the daylights out of me. Not to mention those other parts with even finer precision. Hats off to you for making it all come together!
it was super challenging, and actually the one you see me putting together in the video is not the one I actually ended up using 😉 thank you though!
That is just some sheer insane, uber fantastic detail ❤🎉👏 !!! You're definitely blessed 🙌🏾 OUTSTANDING ❤❤❤
amazing! 😳😍😍
You are amazing, it's hard to believe you could make something like that, it is the most detailed aircraft model, truly a masterpiece
Inspiring…
Thanks for sharing.
HOLY CRAP! Amazing.
Such beautiful hands and craftsmanship❤
What a detail it is!! so cool!
You are so talented and I also have added this track to my Spotify playlist. Thank you. I'm overpowered
💪
Love your work, Luca. I've been following with interest since the old Diecast Aircraft Forum days! I'm glad to see how it's come along.
Aww, thanks! Still at it after all these years. Wish I had more free time!
Incredible work!
Love to see the updates !
Thank you, incredible skills, and a real modelling achievement. It's surprising to some that card/paper modelling can be just as an enjoyable as plastic or any other medium or material.
Thank you again for an enjoyable and learning 8 minutes entertainment.
Take care.
I am part of global supply chain supporting GE Aircraft Engines. I know this engine family well. The fact that this replica constructed from paper and is so accurate is amazing. Bravo
that's awesome - thank you!
Astonishing skill dexterity and attention to detail.. BRAVO 👏
Incredible job, I wish I had the attention span
This is insane!
OMG! This is amazing, and I thought some Lego was hard. The attention to detail and the patience required are just astounding. Very, very well done! 👍👍👍👍
Just incredible!
I love how the moving parts are so cleanly integrated - there's even a cover flap for the thrust reverser switch! So well thought out. Super impressive how even with so many parts there is not much mechanical play. The attention to detail is inhuman honestly. Kudos on a true work of art!
Thank you! I love designing little details like that to preserve both the aesthetics and functionality.
He's back letsgoo
I will keep waiting when you finish 777, keep going bro!
*Fantastic Mind-blowing Extraordinary Sir!!* ❤
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING !
Love it ❤
Really cool to see your process
i like seeing it too, after the fact. it's cool to have it documented!
Spectacular!
Great like everytime. I love your work. 👍😁
Wow it is a very interesting and detailed model.I love it!
I don't care if it started with a printout. The skill, precision, patience and attention to detail to complete this work of art is incredible. Luca; I'm very happy I was recommended your channel. You have just earned a new subscriber and anyone visiting your channel should be subscribing too. I'll certainly be informing all of my friends about your channel. I wish you all the success in the world. God Bless You, Luca.
Thank you so much!
I don't even know what to say anymore. Your level of detail is insane. Really amazing work!
How do you make the little pins for the mechanical parts? I always struggle getting things like that properly round and also not have it break after moving it a few times and you're doing it at such a tiny scale. Truly mindblowing as always!
I delaminate the paper to "single-ply" (ish) thickness, coat it with glue and roll it up. Once it dries it becomes incredibly hard and durable. I'll upload a longer video at some point-I had to cut certain parts out of this one for the sake of time.
Quite the most astounding level of skill I have ever seen.
This is how we built models as a kid ... Nice job....
🤯 Astounding 👏
That. Was. INSANE! Absolutely amazing work...I build HO scale model railroad stuff and wish I had your skill & patience!
Thank you! I have a soft spot for trains… used to be into them when I was a lot younger.
Amazing work
Those scale stator vanes are unbelievable!
This guy’s patience is insane!
You are extremely talented. I admire what you can do. It is amazing.
Now this is MODELING at a whole different level...I love the dance track❤❤❤
Okay today is a good day CONFIRMED!!!!!
The KING of paper craft is back, and I'm going to watch every freaking second of this master peace.
That is amazing never seen anything like it… true craftsmanship / engineering
Unbeliveable ! If i didn't see i wouldn't believe its possible !
You realize that most humans would absolutely lose their minds even attempting something this intricate, don't you? Wow!
Amazing paperwork and impressive cut on the beat
thanks! it was extremely challenging to get the footage to play nice with the beat.
absolutely insane level of craftsmanship
Un trabajo impresionante. Lo que más me asombra es que la mayor parte del esfuerzo queda oculto, nadie puede verlo... Lo has diseñado y construido hasta el más mínimo detalle solo por el mero placer de hacerlo, ¡enhorabuena!

Finally he posted. Attention to detail is insane. 😨
It's good to see you again.
The intricacy and detail of all those tiny parts, covered up to never be seen again, is truly mind-blowing! It must be so satisfying having it all documented, though?
I struggle with whether to cover it up, but ultimately I want it to look realistic and I enjoy making the skin as smooth as possible. You can however see many of the details when the thrust reversers are deployed, check out this video of the first engine: ua-cam.com/video/-fdD-espjbo/v-deo.html
@@lucaiaconistewart - Thank you for the reply, and the link.
Amazing. Just amazing.
WOW beautiful work many congratulations
