African here, the issue is pretty simple most of the time: language. Most African languages are not academic languages. Words like "airfoil hydraulic redundancy systems" simply have no translation in languages like Sotho or Xhosa. The only reason South Africa got so far is thanks to Afrikaans, an academic language derived from Dutch
@Albert-wk8ts 2 reasons they don't do that: - they despise white people and don't want to learn filthy white tongue (yes racism goes both ways HEAVILY) - there's nowhere to learn other languages/ engineering since in most African countries schools are rare, high schools more so and universities are basically unheard of outside of the far north and far south tips of the continent. So people either don't want to or cannot, it's incredibly sad really
For real though they do seem to think that if the helicopter or airplane looks more like the real thing, then it might fly. How about they strip all that fancy stuff, leave only the engine, a solid light frame and the wings. Then they should just run that thing up and down a long straight street. For real though they do seem to think that if the helicopter or airplane looks more like the real thing, then it might fly. How about they strip all that fancy stuff, leave only the engine, a solid light frame and the wings. Then they should just run that thing up and down a long straight street. If they're fast enough for a small 1m lift off, they can actually work on ailerons and controls. I've seen homebuild airplanes from russia that look worse than this shit, but at least they fly because russians know the physics law behind a plane.

First clip is actually impressive: Man made a steel helicopter (aluminum is too expensive), and it got off the ground. The crash was most likely for his lack of piloting skill, but he actually made the thing get off the ground unassisted.
It can't work though. Helicopter rotors are quite complex feats of engineering in order to stop gyroscopic forces from destabilising the thing.
@@Patrick-857 That is exactly what happened. You have to commend some of these guys. The first helicopter needs a change in the RPM of the back rotor, and it would be able to get off the ground straight. @@ulfricstormcloak3657 in all fairness that's the only one that flew, the other ones are the definition of wishful thinking. The full clip shows it did actually fly, he just lost control of it.
