If your bass and low end is full mono, do you still need to use mid side EQ?
Nope absolutely not, stereo eq is perfectly fine. On top of that sub frequencies do not have to be mono. Many genres have width to its low end. So,have a listen to reference tracks and have a look via a vectorscope too :).
