I decided to take a boat trip across Lake Windermere to relax with no plan of filming anything for Gimbal Walk TV but then couldn't resist when I saw the sunset coming and am so glad I captured it.
This is a great tourist attraction. I think the boat cruise ticket cost around £14 for an hour and half cruise across the lake which is great value for money and a must do thing when visiting the Lake District. It's the best way to travel around the lake and see the stunning scenery and beautiful countryside, mountains and lakes. Just head for the lakeside piers, buy a ticket and then sit back and relax as the boat ride takes you past the most beautiful sights.
This is a rare edited travel video for me as I usually film walking tours but thought you might like to see how beautiful Windermere is and how great these boat cruises are.
Here's what wikipedia has to say "Windermere is a large lake in Cumbria’s Lake District National Park, northwest England. It’s surrounded by mountain peaks and villages, including Bowness-on-Windermere, where The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction has modern displays on the children’s writer. In the north, trails lead to Orrest Head, a hill with views across the lake and the fells beyond, and Holehird Gardens, with their alpines, heathers and shrubs."

Bowness-on-Windermere is Lakeland’s most popular holiday resort. An excellent centre for boating activities, it has over 10,000 boats registered. Until March 2005 Windermere was the only lake in the Lake District without a speed limit. A 10 mph limit has now been imposed.
Steamers and launches operate from Bowness Bay to Waterhead at Ambleside, and Lakeside at the southern end.
At the southern end of the lake is Lakeside Pier, and Lakeside Station of the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway. Another popular attraction here is the Aquarium of the Lakes.
The only car ferry takes around 10 minutes to cross the centre of Windermere lake. It runs from Ferry Nab, just south of Bowness, to Ferry House at Far Sawrey and operates all year round.
The lake is today one of the prime destinations for water sports in the Lake District. Several marinas and Sailing and Windsurfing Centres are to be found on the shores. You will also find a large selection of Adventure Activity companies, guides and instructors for all abilities based around the lake. Details of these can be found in our Activities Section."

Many years ago ( late 60s ) I was riding on the Teal, I looked over to one side and was suprised to see a car driving across the lake , It was the first time I had heard of a Aqacar or saw one live. always remember that sight it was so unusual.

Beautiful video. Stunning sunset. I once enjoyed a short cruise on one of the steam launches from what is now the Windermere Jetty Museum at Bowness. Lovely and relaxing with just the gentle chuff, chuff of the steam engine instead of the throb of a diesel.
