Corsa VXR Timing Belt Replacement

- This is one of the easiet timing belts to replace and this set up is the same across all Vauxhall 1.6 and 1.8 twinport engines of this era. Z16XEP Z16XER Z16LET Z16LER Z16LEL Z16LEH and the same codes changing the 6 to 8 for 1.8.
This footage is taken from a previous upload where I do a minor overhaul on this engine but as the video was nearly an hour long I thought I would make a video just on the timing belt replacement
I hope you are enjoying the videos and I do really appreciate the feedback!

Hi, will change to my wifes VXR soon. Had changed timing for Renault, just wasn't sure how it is done for vauhall. Thanks for your video.
Glad it helps you ☺️

Hi good video thanks👍🏻 just a question was this timing belt due replacement due to miles or was there an issue with tensioner pulley or idler pulley like noise or wearing issues? Thanks again for the video👍🏻👍🏻
It was a replacement engine so it was being fully serviced before going into the car. I have a full video on it where I do a compression test, replace the clutch and DMF too.😁

Hi mate, great video, just checking but I thought the tensioner pulley is 20NM + 120degrees and the same with the idler. Thanks?
Thanks for watching and commenting buddy! Much appreciated 😊 the idlers and tensioner are only 20NM. The crank pulley is torqued then angled tightened.

@AMS Vauxhall thank you for the reply buddy, I was just going off auto data. Thanks for that
great video. Whats the torque settings for the crank pulley bolt?
95NM - 45degrees - 15 degress
It's all nice and good doing it with engine out of the car but my engine is in the car and there is a lot more work involved just getting to the belt and you have hardly any space to work so you need to show people how do do it with the engine inside the car since that's what 99 percent of people watching will have.
I know what you are saying but the video is to show you clearly how to do it and these belts are very very simple and there is more than ample space when they are in the car.

@@AMSVauxhall if there is ample space when engine in the car why do you have to remove the front wheel and arch lining?, why do you have to remove the air box and pipe? Why do you have to remove the engine mounting and prop up the engine with a jack? Why do you have to remove the auxiliary belt and tensioner?, doesn't sound like there is a lot of room to me 🙄🙄.
@@bernardlane4517 wow! 🤦🏻♂️,you have to remove those items on nearly every engine. This is normal and perfectly acceptable. If you want something that you can slip on without using any tools or effort then get yourself a BMX.
@@AMSVauxhall that's precisely my point, it's these jobs that prevent people from doing the job themselves and that's why any instruction video should include it. A ten year old with one eye and one arm could do what you do in the video with the engine out in acres of space so hardly earth shattering education but I guess I clicked on the UA-cam adverts and you made money so no doubt that's your goal achieved.
@@bernardlane4517 I don’t think you should attempt this job. Give it to someone that knows how to hold a spanner and yes, thanks for watching! Be sure to check out my other videos! Thanks
