My grandma on my father's side was an absolute FIEND for crocheting, knitting, and lace-making. I couldn't help but think of her. She was visiting us one weekend when I was a kid, and she was the kind of person who gets up at like 5 AM and has tons of energy all day long. By the time the rest of our household woke up on Saturday, she had cleaned the entire kitchen, found my yarn, crocheted a cover for our BLENDER and four matching trivets, and made breakfast for everyone. (The blender-cover was meant as a joke, but my mom actually left it on the blender. :D)
That kitchen reminded me of these prank videos where young fellas completely cover their mom’s kitchen in sticky notes, peanut butter or whatever. Why would you do that to yourself?! 😭
It's so funny but at least they seem to have done a good job with the laminating everything like there doesn't look like there's bubbles It looks like a ridiculous task to undertake so like props for that but that's about it

Like, they absolutely committed to a result that bad and pointless. Do what makes you happy, folks, but sometimes it's a good idea to ask a friend first.
Here in my house we do have a beautiful column that is now half boxed, but there is a good reason for that. And it wasn't a diy project, it was made by professionals (and it was the choice my grandpa made). The reason for that is that this house was getting small for my grandpa's taste (the family was growing and he wanted his grandchildren to have lots of space in his house) and so he decided to expand the house a bit on the back and build a big balcony in the front of the house. So the column was already there, but it was holding just a bit of roofing and it needed quite a bit of extra support to be able to hold a balcony, but since my grandma used to love this column and she had already passed at that point, my grandpa didn't want to "get rid" of it. So he and the professionals managed to find a way to put the extra support while still having half of the column showing on the front. Is it the most aesthetic and beautiful thing ever? No, it looks kind of weird when you first look at it. Do we still love it for all it represents and the character that both my grandma and grandpa put in the house? Absolutely. Would we even think about changing it in any way? Absolutely not, only if it becomes unstable. It is part of the history of this house and our family, and just looking at it everyday reminds us of both of them.

The fully leopard kitchen is totally insane and I’m kind of living for it. 😂 I wouldn’t want it myself but it’s a bold move. The woman with the brick fireplace clearly wanted a whitewashed look and masonry paint as you suggested isn’t at all suitable for giving that look. Instead she needed to use proper diluted lime-based whitewash or lime paint, which would give that lovely aged, uneven finish but be fully breathable and never peel.
The first one could possibly work, but not with this curtain fabric that they put there. I'm imagining something like a real tapestry, or at the bare minimum something that *looks* like tapestry, like those medieval tapestries or something. My point is that it has to be something that looks like something you would *actually* hang on your wall on its own, like art, and not some random curtain. Because a curtain screams "there is something behind me", while something that looks like a piece of art (like tapestry with a motif or a scene) could just be there for itself, so people won't think there must be something behind it.
That’s what I have . A real tapestry hung on a decorative pole. You cannot tell there is a tv behind it. The tapestry is heavy but I rarely use the tv.

Now to match of thr wood more the amplitude and wavelength of those squiggles could probably be different, but overall a pretty great table I would say, and they can switch out the shelves without much issue due to how it's built.

That animal print kitchen is a work of art compared to ours. Back in 2009, The Wife hired an ex-con to come in and paint our walls. He did a good enough job on the living room with light brown paint, but when he got to the kitchen, he used a hideous green paint that reacts to dirt and stains by absorbing them. So our cabinets always look filthy! We need new ones, so hopefully these eyesores will be gone soon.

That Leopard kitchen….😂i dont have the best eyesight and having everything in the same pattern would be horrible. I would break so much stuff. Honestly its the first time I wished for better light even though I dont want to look at it. 😂
I have very little depth perception due to an eye problem, and that animal print kitchen is a nightmare. Plus the fact that it’s an animal print kitchen…that’s a nightmare too.
Regarding wrapping the columns in wood, the DIYer missed a very critical aspect: Those are decorative faux column covers already installed. There will be a 4x4 post or steel pole inside those, and that decorative cover should be removed to lessen the profile of the wood wrap. Also, if you're going to wood wrap your columns, stain the wood, don't paint over it. The shape change isn't adding anything.
That’s what I thought of too! Creepy. My daughter installed lights behind her big screen tv. When she first told me about what she planned to do, I was worried. After she finished it, I really liked it. She works remotely from home. Her big screen tv is installed on the wall over her computer screen. It looks like a small screen tv when seen with her big screen tv. Her desk has a long shelf over the area where her keyboard, mouse, post it notes, coffee cup w/heating base that keeps her coffee hot. On the far left side she has another computer screen, though it sits vertically versus horizontally. She uses both the computer screens & the tv screen. The tv screen sits on a wall base that lets her pull it downward & tilt. The vertical screen lets her view reports in long form so she doesn’t have to scroll down as much. It’s a nice setup that is functional as well as having clean lines. The light behind her tv screen is great for viewing movies. The light colors & brightness is adjustable. She would cringe at the frilly coffin wrapping vibe. 😂
First , the column one has a major disaster brewing with that down spout of water splashing over time on porch. I give it 6 months and then they'll see.
I think the best thing about the last one is that she acknowledged when things didn’t go perfectly. Too many DIYers are SO DAMN PROUD of their janky-ass home “projects” when really someone needed to force them to put down the power drill and paint roller a long time ago. On that console table - the nice thing is, the wood she used isn’t overly-expensive, so when she gets tired of the squiggly lines she could swap the shelves out for something more elegant. A cheap but actually nice-looking DIY in natural materials is the perfect way to incorporate trends like that.
I painted a very ugly brick dividing wall in the house that we had just bought. The bricks were a revolting dark brown so I painted them fully, including the cement joins, not just brushed over. The bricks were also not anywhere near a fireplace. It made such a huge difference to the look of the room and lifted it and made it brighter. Hard work but it looked great and is still there, ages after we sold the house.
The leopard kitchen is a art installation from a transgender Berlin artist who is referencing East European ,,tacky,, aesthetics. It’s filmed and set up purposely to look ,,authentic,, in a sarcastic way.
I don’t have the ‘live, laugh, love’ thing on my wall, but my daughters did have a beautifully cute wood carving for my rustic hutch that says, ‘In this kitchen, there’s dancing.’ Since before our girls were born, I’ve always had music blaring in the kitchen when cooking meals, but especially when canning or freezing veggies from the garden. They grew up to my dancing in the kitchen singing along with the music. With regards to cooking meals, they grew up to their dad & me dancing in the kitchen. It’s always been a fun, happy place. It still is after more than thirty five years, though music is split between the kitchen & my pottery studio.

I would love to see a primer on paint finishes. I am getting ready to paint my bedroom with a dark and moody blue-black (thank you for your advice. Taking it!) I have a 12 x 15 mb. Not too small, big enough for a king size bed and a chair. Aside from nightstands, lamps, bed and chair w/ small-ish side table, no other furniture is going in the room. Have a walk in closet that’s plenty big enough for all clothes, blah, blah. My dilemma is, what sheen to get to maximise the impact of the intimate, classy mood I am trying to achieve, and works well with artificial and natural light. Love your giggles. I appreciate your explanations and advice. Thank you so very much! 💙🤩
The technique she used on the painted fireplace is called drybrushing, and is meant for painting cosplay armor, miniature, and other craft projects. Not your poor, innocent brick fireplace.
I like the tv curtain, is not to hide the tv , but convenience about the dust. I no need to buy another type of chemical for hand when you just buy same detergen,... is not about hiding at all. In late 80, my mom or granma had that a clothe to cover on top of the tv, is for dust to not stick to much on the tv, and the clothe cover can trap a dust , just need to wash it clean, rather than make more unseen dust all over. I had a pc, moniter, i knew how hard to clean the monitor each and every time , even had a duster still got statik dust around after clean, if using certain chemical for electronik clean is not very 100% is really scrutenize, some gave left over bit of unvisible trace of mark . My mom tv flat screen , is not really good for certain type of exposure in type of electronic cleaner. I knew best why curtain is nice . Is still good for me. For a house wife, a curtain tv is like a must.
I love leopard print. I thought the kitchen was cool. I don't think I personally would cover every square inch of the kitchen with it but some parts of it would definitely be cool.
Yes to Julie collab - so fun hearing your critique of cringe-diying. I was surprised that you, Phoenix, a clean freak, didn't even mention the anti-hygienic qualities of a fabric-coated kitchen - leopard or otherwise.
I disagree with saying urgh, basic for the square columns. It's their house, it's a big open verandah, they can prefer square. BUT even with no building experience I can see it's not a good approach to just put planks around it. Water, mould, pests, they did cut something at the top and is that sealed... I don't think anyone will buy this even five years from now and those columns won't be rooted, let alone fifty
She was using chalk paint on the brick. 🤦🏼♀️ I appreciate that you point out some of safety and quality issues that are ignored during some DIY projects. People just don't think sometimes and create unnecessary hazards. I don't think I've committed to anything in life like she did to that cheetah print kitchen. 😂
The column couple need to do something with the gutter's that water is coming down in one spot and going to cause a problem with the column and the porch.
Just wanted to say, I have been doing stuff like this for a living and I wonder how some of these things look up close/if you saw them for real. That last lamp in particular. Her spackling looked very rough when she started sanding and getting a smooth round shape is very hard. She would also need to cover the bowl very evenly or very much to not have uneven light leakage. If it's a shiny surface that adds even more problems. Starting with a wok pan would probably be better.

Hi, first time viewer and I must say you made me laugh, thank you for that. 😊. I find DIY clips are either a disaster or brilliant, but having you comment just adds another level. Thank you again and take care. Snookums 😊
Oh lord, that leopard kitchen, it makes me feel so many feelings. But there are so many at the same time that I can't tell which emotions are happening. Horror, confusion, hilarity?
Good cause it’s a art installation from a Berlin artist and it’s not a actual kitchen in use it’s a set up
Who thought a garter for a TV was a good idea?!
When you have to convince yourself you'll "get used to it," you've Fd up. 😅
Not a big DIYer but in this video I learned about a product I had never heard of (Rub n Buff) please don’t laugh at me!!! I have a project that needs this and I ordered it and I am actually stoked! So huge thank you!
Rub n Buff is wonderful! I’ve used it for so many art/craft projects over the years. Have fun!
The shape change isn't adding anything.
did you see the joinery at the bottom? awful
That leopard kitchen is horrendous!
The repeat in the leopard print would drive me crazy.
A little leopard goes a LONG way.
Covering circular columns with plywood should be an immediate Go To Jail violation.
3:55 It looks okay buuut I don't love when the walls collect 3x more dust that I have to clean off all the molding 😂
The leopard skin kitchen triggers my trypophobia.
No one was ready for the leopard kitchen….although it needed gold fittings…
That tv looks like a coffin
It is not hiding the TV; it is keeping the TV was watching you. Make sure to unplug it as well.
The first one, the Tv thing, I believe is meant for dust. Not to hide. Theyake one for piano too. For anti dust and scratches. 🤔
7:27 I'm literally screaming. Like, I'm getting a melon baller my eyes now. I LOVE leopard print but... no sister, that's not working.
I liked the fireplace after. As long as she used the correct paint. Not everyone can afford a professional paint job.
The TV cover cloth... It's classic Eastern Europe style, both my grandma's had that back in 1995.
The leopard kitchen is a art installation from a transgender Berlin artist who is referencing East European ,,tacky,, aesthetics. It’s filmed and set up purposely to look ,,authentic,, in a sarcastic way.
I don’t have the ‘live, laugh, love’ thing on my wall, but my daughters did have a beautifully cute wood carving for my rustic hutch that says, ‘In this kitchen, there’s dancing.’
Since before our girls were born, I’ve always had music blaring in the kitchen when cooking meals, but especially when canning or freezing veggies from the garden. They grew up to my dancing in the kitchen singing along with the music. With regards to cooking meals, they grew up to their dad & me dancing in the kitchen. It’s always been a fun, happy place. It still is after more than thirty five years, though music is split between the kitchen & my pottery studio.
That leopard kitchen was absolutely stunning. If i could afford to, i definitely would!
That wavy, squiggly pattern just needs to go. It's so tacky no matter what people use it for. Hideous
You popped up in my feed, subscribed...you agree with me on wood floors and I love that you point out potential hazards.
When you said "tell me you're from the south without telling me you're from the south..." I thought the exact same thing about you but Canada instead of the south!!! Your Canadian accent is so strong!! Lol
As a Canadian (Southern Ontario) I love coming across the accent unexpectedly online. Instant subscribe!! 😊
That leopard kitchen in Peg Bundy’s dream!
The leopard kitchen is……….wowzers. Can’t wait to see it on Zillow Gone Wild one day.
see how I covered every surface of my kitchen in cheap dollar store leopard print sticker except my stove/oven...very classy. Very demure
Really digging this song. Had no idea that you were into music. Makes me love your content and character even more! Keep beating awesome!
The technique she used on the painted fireplace is called drybrushing, and is meant for painting cosplay armor, miniature, and other craft projects. Not your poor, innocent brick fireplace.
My sister could blend into that kitchen and be fully camouflaged in a second. She'd just be lost in there forever.
It probably isn't fabric, but a vinyl wrap or something similar.
I’m so glad I found you. These are great and now I have a new voice in my head when I contemplate DITing
Thank you for the info for paint onto bricks, very good to know.
Thank you for sharing the fire hazard warning about the paint on the fireplace bricks!
OMG! The TV!
She was using chalk paint on the brick. 🤦🏼♀️
I appreciate that you point out some of safety and quality issues that are ignored during some DIY projects. People just don't think sometimes and create unnecessary hazards.
I don't think I've committed to anything in life like she did to that cheetah print kitchen. 😂
The column couple need to do something with the gutter's that water is coming down in one spot and going to cause a problem with the column and the porch.
When someone says they're going to "breathe new life into this old X", I honestly get worried for X.
13:45 couldn't you also just use a metal bowl?
My landlord replaced beautiful hand built post-war pine cabinets with particle board. There is a place in hell.
7:15 when you're rendering the kitchen in the software and accidently hit "Apply to All Surfaces" while hovering over your animal textures.
I did a white wash on my fireplace. My grandpa is a professional painter! It turned out so beautiful.
That "thing" around the TV looks like a masonic apron. My Father was a mason and I used to snoop in his drawer when I was a kid. He had a blue masonic apron that had that gaudy funereal look to it. Oh, my 👀, it hurts 😂
UA-cam recommended your channel after I watched a modern makeovers video (he's really good at refurbishing furniture plus he's a fellow 🇨🇦) and UA-cam actually gave me a wonderful recommendation; you gained a new subscriber. Now I must binge!
These videos are a hoot! Amazing what people get up too.
