I’ve just come back from a three month tour of Europe on a 2020 model of these, mostly Scandinavia where I was wild camping.
12,000 miles, two oil changes, one set of tyres changed. Totally faultless, started first time every time.
I’m 5’ 9” and being able to get my feet flat down makes all the difference. I rode mostly on the road with occasional unpaved and forest roads. The power is plenty for real world riding, fuel economy excellent and the lack of rider aids and gadgetry is a plus for me, less to go wrong.
This bike is so often overlooked in favour of the two wheel tank adventure bikes, but I’m at an age where I no longer buy bikes to impress other people and the Honda CB500x is an absolute gem. I’m already planning next years trip.
Thanks for the video, regards Warren 🇬🇧

I’m 5’11” and find the 500X perfect for me. Anyone who wants a powerful bike will need to look elsewhere but anyone who wants a great comfortable economical bike that will be happy on just about any road, paved or not should try one. I have almost doubled my annual mileage since downsizing from an ST1500 to a 500X, power isn’t everything and the 500X allows you to really take advantage and enjoy the power it makes.

A brilliant all round motorcycle. This is the sixth motorcycle I’ve owned since getting my licence in 1973 and it is by the far the most versatile, comfortable, economical and super smooth of any motorcycle I’ve ever owned. I’ve actually had two of these - a 2015 model (on which I rode 20,000 km) and now the gorgeous red 2021 (having so far ridden 18,000 km). I’m 5’ 10” and while seated on the saddle I’m almost flat footed. 500 cc provides ample power. I’m heading off tomorrow morning with three mates for a one week, 2,500 km road trip through the West Australian Goldfields … much of it on unsealed dirt roads - and I know that purring along at around 110 km/hour I’ll be using an average of 3.1 litres/100 km (75 US mpg), my rear end will remain comfortable and I’ll be able to ride as comfortably on the unsealed roads as I will on black top - but not doing overly technical stuff - although it’s a Jack of all trades and a master of none, it comes real close in both categories 🦘.

with this 2021 version of 500x i went touring around Borneo mostly on coastal sides of East Malaysia, Brunei and Kalimantan, Indonesia. ZERO issues besides wear and tear parts. comfortable with all power u needed(needed, not excesses) at all rpm ranges plus great FC. only gripe is when installed Givi sideboxes, its top speed reduced from 18x kmh to 16x kmh for me weighted 80kg, but at those speeds its engine doesn't scream much due to low rpm nature. this is my one bike garage bike. if u can find even 2nd hand 1st model bike, its a no brainer.

I'm 6'3", and looking for a big enough beginner bike. Not a huge fan of adventure bikes myself, but mainly just because of the looks. I tried a cb500f, and it simply was too small for me. Think I'll get one of these! While not being my ideal bike, it would definitely serve me well for a couple of years until I can get a bigger standard bike!

Problem with riding the cb500x off road is the footpegs position! They are to far back so standing up your knees are past the tips of your feet. I have this model and absolutely love it but the footpegs are a real ball ache to sort out properly... ride safe dude.

I have the Honda CB500X and do like it, but put it down as 90% road and 10% off road. I has a KTM 390 Adventure and that was much better off road and as good on road. Would put the KTM 390 Adventure down much closer to a true Adventure bike close to a 60% on and 40 % off road, for adventure stile riding. The one I am hopping to get is the new Royal Enfield 450 Himalayan, looks like by far the best of the true adventure bikes. Great of road and great on road, think it is going to out perform bough the Honda and the KTM, by a long shot. Every video I see on the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, give it a hands up. I like to buy bikes that dealers are close, but the new Himalayan 450 just might be a exception to this. They are calling it the unicorn of bikes. And it looks great in black, and has many color options.

That bike is grossly and needlessly overly large. I'm six foot, but am getting really tired of these monstrosities. A 400 to 500 would be my next bike but only if it were under about 400 pounds.
