As a Kings and Fox fan, the smart non-Kangz move is to blow this up before the trade deadline when Fox still has peak value. Trade everyone not named Keegan, Keon, Devin or Domontas and rest Sabonis for the season the next time he gets hit in the face which will probably be the next game and decide in off season whether to keep him. Kings best asset in rebuild is 2025 1st round pick which they lose if it’s 13th or higher. Waiting until off -season probably loses that too Think it’s tough building a contender now with Fox, the moment he signs that extension it will be impossible so this “window” is closed in a season and a half whether he signs or walks. SA is the right destination. They have the picks, a young player and salary filler that the Kings should want. Also their best player will be on either his rookie scale and rookie supermax for next 7 or so years so they can build a contender with them.
You glossed over the tricky part. "he'll sign an extension with us", if he has a place in mind he wants to go, he's not going to sign any kind of extension in advance which would make moving him now even harder and have less value.
I think the Kings are logical in waiting till the summer (or draft night) to trade Fox. First, there's some chance Fox is third team all NBA and signs a super max with them. Second, his value is based on the fact he will resign with his new team, so unlikely his value drops from now to the summer. Three, more players will be expiring deals so the Kings can get players on expiring deals for Fox. Four, if you trade Fox on draft night or close to it you can know exactly what picks you're getting back and which players you can draft with those picks more clearly. Lastly, Fox hasn't asked out. Overall, they don't benefit a ton of trading Fox now, unless they want to also trade Sabonis/DeRozen and Monk to completely clear all bases, which they just aren't interested in right now
He'll want the Heat with having Bam as an old college buddy. He'll also have leverage as a pending free agent, and Jimmy will be off the books so the "trade me there or I'll just sign there" threat is legit. the package of future assets is poor and no doubt Riley will low ball.

Fox can score and defend, so I wouldn't hesitate to include Reaves in any offer to him. Reaves, Rui, Gabe, and whatever combo of picks gets it done. Maybe we could still have enough left over to swing the Kessler trade, but that's probably wishful thinking.
