- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 3 said that the central government is making efforts to normalise the situation in the north-eastern State of Manipur, which has been witnessing ethnic violence since last year.
The Prime Minister was replying to the debate on ‘Motion of Thanks’ on the President’s address in the Rajya Sabha. His remarks on Manipur came a day after his speech in Lok Sabha was marked by sloganeering by opposition members who were urging him to address the Manipur issue.

In another district of Manipur called Jiribam where violence has erupted recently, all non kuki population were shifted forcibly by Indian forces in the name of security and then the empty houses were burnt on daily basis by kuki militants

The kuki demand is illogical to be honest. That is the not the problem.. the problem is the divide.. aam Dino ki Tarah school , college nhi chal rhe h.. kuki area mai kuki students, Imphal area mai Imphal students jaa rhe h.. even officers are transferred .. even CM convoy was ambushed by kukis while going to hill area.. then how can civilian travel normally.. its the divide.. we want a solution ..

It's a similar situation of some Pakistani infiltrators residing in Kashmir and claiming Kashmir as theirs. The solution is NRC to deport the illegal infiltrators creating havoc in Manipur. Manipur was a sovereign land before it was merged into the Indian union. The merger agreement vows to protect the integrity of Manipur. So no compromise with the territorial integrity of Manipur

And this crisis has no sign of an end. We are guarding our village as well as the district on our own and a lot of incidents have taken place, burning houses, killing people, even we have to guard ourselves during the daytime. It's hard.

Seemed authentic to me. He doesn't believe in kicking the can down the road. This will take time, the 2 warring communities are armed and Chinese made high capacity weapons are pouring in through the unfenced Myanmar border. Every death is tragic but lets not forget only 230 people died when 6000+ of these military grade weapons are in circulation, so the Armed forces are doing a pretty good job. The partisanship is disappointing but not surprising.
This should've been done decades ago, alongwith fixing Kashmir and the Naxal menace. During the 90's a 16- bit Sega mega drive2 was available for Rs 2000 in the Khan Market while cheap Chinese videogames were available everywhere for 600 rupees in Delhi. Chinese were on the ball and Congress was sleeping, still is. So wrong, consistently, about everything.

@@romirajkumar You mentioned unchecked infiltration as the reason for the crisis, don't you think people engaging in theatrics in the parliament who were in charge for 60+ years should accept some accountability for leaving the eastern border unsecure ? This is a security situation, P.M visiting or not visiting just takes care of the optics of this crisis. Modi visiting won't solve this problem, the armed forces would need to sanitize the region of weapons like they did in the J&K region. For a responsible Opposition this should've been a moment of coming together but that's too much to ask from these crooks and in a way that's good because it'll keep the socialists out of power, people can see through their hypocrisy.
The bloodshed in the name of religion or cast will come back haunting! Even keeping silent and ignorant about this also considered to be a crime!
