Idk if this was mentioned, but your starting flower is determined by your birth month. For example, my birth month is October, so I have the chance to have mums, cosmos, or roses as my native flower. This is also different between hemispheres. There's a guide you can look up if your curious about yours on Google.

After all these years of ACNH, 3000+ hours and over 15 islands made, here are the things I look for when restarting: - airport on the left, so the fly over crosses most of the island to showcase as much of it - the size and shape of rocks, I want big flat rocks to put decor on it - the size of the peninsula to be able to decorate as much as I can - I prefer when the river mouth aren’t both in the south bc it tends to look like a weird loop when they’re both on the same size - the plaza is as far from the airport as possible to make it two distinct areas And that’s it, you can change your villagers whenever, you can swap the fruit trees, you don’t need to worry about airport color since you can customise nook miles items now
While this likely won’t ever be useful for me, as I’m very content with my island, it’s been incredibly interesting nonetheless! I do hope it will be helpful for other people, for me it was, as always, a very enjoyable watch and I’m happy to have learned something new ❤ Also, this is a bit unrelated, but I am so glad you still do data reliant ACNH videos! I feel like there is so much misinformation about this game, so I’m very glad you do these kind of videos every once in a while c:
Bugs are a fantastic idea, but fish... So many fish have the same shadow sizes. You'd get tripped up the second you have fish who have unavoidable shared sizes.

this is really neat to see all laid out like this! my current island is the south-east one with the star shaped pond, i picked it basically entirely because i loved that pond! i was like "woah a star shaped pond that naturally starts on the island? i need that!" and went for it, plus the rest of the layout worked quite well for me since i dont like to terraform and the natural layout of that island is pretty easy to navigate
This is kind of an odd idea, and it might not take super long. But what about an acnh challenge were you purchase everything from the nook miles section of the terminal? You have to unlock the town hall and some of the stuff is expensive, but i think it would be fun!
I spent 5 days only last week resetting for the "perfect" forever island trying to get beach rocks, the secret beach, town hall distance from airport, peaches, and orange airport. 5 days of Timmy and Tommy teasing me with islands close to what I want but not exactly. The pain of resetting an island is unlike any other.

I noticed that the 2 Islands that you showed at 3:00 were actually different! Or at least the beaches were. With the rocks at the north of both islands, there is actually some differences, same with the beach rocks in general, so maybe the beaches are randomly generated? Edit: Also the air port placement is different!
While it's inconclusive whether or not hemisphere determines different islands, those two images at 3:00 are *not* the same. Note the beach on the south side of the map and the rock formations north, alongside the differences in the green patch on the west and east sides of the island. (sorry if I got some names wrong, I'm not a prolific player)

I got the south-west third row second column island. I remember demolishing all the cliffs and removing the ponds and rivers to make my island superflat 😂. My airport, peninsula and beach rocks are in slightly different places. I reset my island so i can have an airport dock be in line with the resident services doors + blue airport + orange native fruit (took me a few hours of resetting)
I have a question for everyone: Do you remember your orignal island layout? If so, can you spot it at 0:57? Heres my answer: i actually remember mines! Its the second island on the first row of the "South-South" section. It's the one with the heart pond.

my island that i've had since march 2020 is the one at 0:38 as a south-east example :) I would love to hear from anyone else with this island, maybe share dream codes or come visit? i've done very minimal waterscaping and terraforming on my island so it looks pretty much the same still.
