A1 isn't really especially low for Geoff. He goes lower than that in almost every VoicePlay recording for the last several years. E1 is a somewhat more typical lowest-note-in-the-song for him. He hits a prominent lyric-carrying C1 at the end of Way Down (though it required multiple takes) and can in principle hit notes as low as A0.
FYI... " Blackbird" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles from their 1968 double album " Written by Paul McCartney while inspired on India tour.
I so enjoy watching you react to Geoff and doing the sing-along. I do it too, but unfortunately, I have that old lady quaver in my voice. Subscribed in anticipation of more Geoff and Voiceplay!
I love this cover so much! One of my favorites! He also hit a B0 in voiceplay's Halo theme cover. Love Geoff's music so much but this will always sit at the top.
Another masterpiece by the Beatles. 60 years old, still being recorded by others. So simple, yet so powerful. Without question, the best songwriters of the 20th Century. There are other good ones: Paul Simon, Michael Jackson, Elton John, and others, but nobody comes close to Lennon and McCartney.
a tiny note from what my ears picked up before his gargling low note, i think he jumps down, but lightly lifts the note a half step. Then does the harmony, then that gargling note.
Geoff's range is around five octaves. His lowest note to date was a B0 though it wasn't sung as such, just intoned, in VoicePLay's Halo . He sang a C1 in Low Down. But as he says, low notes are only worth doing if they sound good too. He works on his technique constantly. Yes, his nasality isn't always what people want but he employs it for a reason. Something you might enjoy is VoicePlay's version of the Beatles' Eleanor Rigby, attanged on that occasion by Eli. It's lovely.
He did this from home and trying to be quiet as his son was supposed to be sleeping. He heard "Dad, is that Blackbird?" "Yes, go back to sleep." I'm 71, and grew up with this. Last year,, I read an interview with Paul McCartney who talked about what he had in mind when he wrote this. It was to honor the American Civil Rights movement and phrases such as "All your life you were only waiting for this moment to arrive / be free.", "Take these broken wings and learn to fly.", "Take these sunken eyes and learn to see all your life." I pissed off my parents by supporting the civil rights movement and protesting the Vietnam War but I couldn't do anything less.
It would be great also for you to collaborate with Peter Barber, he is also a reactor, Opera Singer and in the Bass Gang group. He is another of my favorite Bass singers. His tone is lovely. Would love to see you sing together as well as react together.
Maggie, you have now been submerged into the world of the solo work of the people from the A Cappella group "Voice Play". How about a trip down the other lane of fantastic folks of Home Free! Austin Brown Music-- "Bring Him Home "from le Mis-- Georgia on My Mind, and/or Tim Foust music "Come and go with me" and "Will you still love me tomorrow/Stay. these are the artist just loving what they do. All of these will blow your mind and show case their vocal ability. please please please!!!
If you wanna hear heavenly harmonies in a Beatles cover, I suggest you listen to Michelle by the Singers Unlimited. This vocal was out of this world in that regard.
What I want to hear next? Your comment about the chocolate cream puff made me think of a duet between Scarlet Dorn and Chris Harms (from Lord of the Lost) called "I love the way you say my name". I'm certain you'll enjoy both their voices :)
right? i did a video search on her channel and noticed shes re-uploading her old videos. turns out she did make this video about a year ago. just dont know why shes re-uploading the same old videos
I suspect how many Geoff's you see onscreen equates to how many octaves that song covers Edit: I love when ye sing along with the reacted to artist. Edit 2: tis always amusing when Geoff "breaks" the reactor :D :D :D
I had the same reaction to this song as you did at the 10:00 mark. Geoff and Kathy filmed this in their living room, after their little boy was supposed to be asleep. "Daddy, is that Blackbird?" "Yes. Now go back to sleep or the toilet monsters will get you." Did you notice the staggered fly, fly, fly at 5:45 so it sounds like fluttering wings? After this video he decided representing each vocal line with a clone was too time-consuming unless it's needed for balance, like with Ghost Riders in the Sky. Geoff practiced to access the E1 for Oogie Boogie's Song, and after practicing to hit the C1 at the end of Way Down, is now using a C#1 a lot. That's how he makes it seem effortless ... lots and lots of practice.
i think geoff has been known to hit a c0 the third lowest note on the piano and tim has been known to hit a b0 the second lowest correct me if i am wrong .
You should do a reaction to the halo theme song gregorian chant by Munx Gregoriana on youtube! You did a reaction Voiceplay's Halo theme song before and you mentioned in another video about Gregorian chant. Would be awesome to see/hear your reaction to it.
Voice Play put so much feeling into the song. They have a special connection to Halo. Listen to Scott Porter at the end when he pays homage to the game & to a fallen comrade who inspired them to create with their music
Since Maggie likes basses, The Bass Gang is a must anyway. Their most bassy track should be Mad World where they feature Elliott Robinson. This is closely followed by Hide And Seek. BTW., Elliott is the (invisible) bass of Das Sound Machine in Pitch Perfect 2.
Maggie you can sing along anytime you want this is a compliment your a very beautiful woman beautiful eyes and smile but your voice is like an angel your voice is so so sweet and beautiful love hearing you sing so please sing as ll you want
I love Geoff, but as lovely as this is, harmonies and all, Blackbird, one of my favorite Paul McCartney songs, gets its special beauty from its simplicity. There is too much going on. And Geoff can sing incredibly low, but he doesn’t have to prove it in every song. His higher range works well, the low end I found distracting. So many people have covered this song over the decades. But Paul with guitar is my favorite, as well as the original album version by the Beatles. On their classic White Album. What an album! Paul is still singing this song now, because it is so loved. I also love Jeff Beck’s non-lyric version. Just guitar. Well he is, by everyone’s standard, in the top five all-time best guitarists. Well, my top 5. Certainly every critic’s top 10. This from a random Google, especially the last sentence, reflects what I’m trying to say: “Written in response to racial tensions in the USA in 1968 and appears on The White Album, now considered one of The Beatles’s best albums. "Blackbird" is an incredibly beautiful, simple song with pared-down vocals by Paul McCartney.”
FIVE Geoff's this time??? Fantastic performance by Geoff x 5. Really liked the reaction and analysis. You can put things into words and help me understand why I like something and I like that. 🌙
I, for one, don't mind you singing with a song. I can't stand when you sing a different song OVER the song that you are "reacting" to. Neither you nor your viewers can hear the song itself, so you aren't reacting to it. You're just singing another song, showing disrespect to the one you say you're reacting to. It is clickbait
It’s annoying when we can’t hear the person your reacting to! You do this to all the songs I for one love your voice but actually want to hear you react and not sing over the artist, I would say it’s just my opinion but it’s obvious it’s not!
@@barbarakennedy2667 I like Maggie. I just object to her singing other songs over the one she's reacting to when she goes beyond a line or so. Imo she is capable of hearing what viewers think, whether pro or con. If everyone thought the same as each other the world would be a boring place
If he ever does a one man Bohemian Rhapsody, every Opera singer turned reviewer on twitter will explode at the same time.
Another Beatles Classic ❤
Geoff and his wife Kathy filmed this in their living room at night while their son William was asleep. You should read the credits he is so funny.
This is my favorite of Geoff's covers. Not the most dramatic, but so beautiful. Like a warm hug.
A1 isn't really especially low for Geoff. He goes lower than that in almost every VoicePlay recording for the last several years. E1 is a somewhat more typical lowest-note-in-the-song for him. This is my favorite cover of Geoffs. No matter how bad the day is it always settles me down. Great reaction!!
I love it when music makes you so happy!
Love this version by Geoff! Great reaction!
🤩👍💖
His voice reminds me of the deep, rich tones of red mahogany.
Maggie, you may want to listen to Peter Hollens and Tim Foust's cover of Blackbird, too.
Love Geoff's version of this.
You always make my day better! Easily one of the best UA-camrs!

Kind of sad this needs to be said.
Thank you for another priceless reaction to Geoff. Geoff is always so smooth in his delivery no matter what notes he hits. He is ear candy to my soul.
I so enjoy watching you react to Geoff and doing the sing-along. I do it too, but unfortunately, I have that old lady quaver in my voice.

This is one of my top 3 Geoff songs. So lovely and pretty. I love the gifs you add🤣🤣🤣. So entertaining
This is my favorite of all Geoffs "solo" pieces.

10:00 Geoffgasm xD
You should checkout VoicePlay's Valhalla Calling. Geoff just casually throws out a B0 (and keeps it sustained as well)
Love the original but Paul would love this beautiful version, I do!
this was really well done, also liked your harmonies with it too, love watching your videos...

When Maggie calls any low note below C2 a subharmonic😂😅
Yep. Only sub here is the E1 at the end.
I have been waiting for this one by you. Thank you!!
Love your Voiceplay/Geoff reactions!! Subbed immediately after SHOOKETH!! 😂 ❤

I agree he's a little too nasal-y, but he's such a beautiful singer that it's hard to care too much. I love his range.

the lowest subharmonic by Geoff is B0 in HALO THEME by VOICEPLAY. THE BEST BASS

You have heard quite a few notes lower than an A1 on this channel. Geoff hits an E1 in the Oogie Boogie song for example.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but at 10:36, did he hit a note a half-step lower, then go up to A1?

I love this artist and song. Speaking of the artist, he just dropped a cover of Johnny Cash’s Ghost Riders in the Sky.
Correction. That dropped a month ago… oops.
Another correction: Johnny Cash did a cover of _Ghost Riders..._ . Original artist was Stan Jones in 1948.
Just an A1? Simple for Geoff.
