    I have a borboel and presa canario. I love them both but to be honest i favor the presa canario. He is smart, obedient, gentle, well tempered, sociable when needs to be but can definitely protect.My boerbel is hard headed, sweet, a good family dog, but will tend to try to do his own thing every once in a while. I have also had different breeds in my life before but the presa takes the crown

    I own Presa Canarias since more than 20 Years now and can tell You, that every Individual is different. I have seen everything within this Breed.
    Also from Boerboels, i have seen brave, but also some shy and fearful Dogs. It's the highest Level of Dog Breeding, that can give a Forecast for the Character of a Litter.
    And this ist mostly a Result of long term Line-Breeding.

      You missed a breed to add to this since it includes many rare breeds. Cao de fila de sao miguel. Smaller but just as fierce as the choices above. Also called the st miguel cattledog or azores mastiff. Molloser type mastiff. Curly tail like ancient Molloser. The farm type ones have more phenotypic traits still but many show line ones still can vary a bit since show breeders are drill using working line stock in many cases. 88 pound max unless you get one that's a bit tall.

    Great analysis. I trust your objective assessment.
    You mentioned 5 races you worked with.
    I would introduce only 1 more breed and that is the Caucasian Shepherd "show variant", which was specially made in the largest military kennel in Russia "RED STAR".
    Thanks to that, I single out the Caucasian Shepherd Dog as the best guardian of the estate, but also as the fiercest and strongest personal protector.
    Apart from that, my most favorite breed is Alabai, white in color from Turkmenia with a bear's head, athletic, ideal weight of 75 kg, not too big to perform its duty perfectly.

    We have a 5 yr old English Mastiff male &an 11 month old female Boerboel. Our goal is to build a pack as pets & gaurdians. Now that our puppy is almost 1, we're considering our next mastiff. We thought we would get either a black male corso or boerboel, until we seen an alibi puppy tonight, fell in love and started looking into the breed & I remembered your channel... We've built a good friendship w/our Boerboel kennel & they're close to us, so that's where we'll get our 2nd Boerboel when the time comes... I've so enjoyed watching & appreciate your Boerboel content over the last year and have learned alot,thank you😊... 1. Alabai hands down. Proven ability of centuries of guarding flock and family.
    2. Boerboel
    3. Distant 3rd Presa. Presa is more prey drive then defense. To me this means less stability for guarding and more liability if not properly handled or not as reliable as far as temperament.

    • @RickyBobby42069
      @RickyBobby42069 Рік тому +2

      The video is about best family protection guard dog , the Alabai is by far way less trainable then all the other breeds , it needs to be a very experienced person also they are super independent which is not ideal for a family, I don’t believe in mordern day society he can be considered close to the qualities of the boerboel to be a family dog , tge boerboel can be a dog that can be inside the house with kids chilling watching Netflix , Alabai not that type of dog . Alabai are very effective Guard dogs especially on large lands , on that task they are the best , on the rest the boerboel is better . Regarding prey I’ll have to disagree , prey drive is highly effective for training , I prefer prey to agression , another point in favor , problem of prey is you need to handle the dog well but … agression even worse and this is how dogs bite so for a family better prey then agression in my opinion , a dog biting on prey is more controllable then on agression . This are all strong dogs offcourse needs to be owners that know what they doing :) Thanks for the opinion

    In my experience I haven't seen a more intelligent, loyal protector than the cane corso. I would say them and Boerboels are interchangeable above the rest because they vibe well with the fam and you can get them at any decent working weight you'd ever need. Rottweilers are inferior in terms of firepower, muscle, weight, and bite force, but just as good general family guardians. The alabai is absolutely too much dog for most people whether we're talking about size, temperament, or liability. That leaves the Presa, which is a phenomenal dog, but more prey driven, so i could see them being an awesome police/military apprehension dog if bred right, but not a better protector than a boerboel or a corso.

      St miguel cattledog have unusually long lifespans for their size. And have a rather unique blend of the various molloser type personalities and temperments.
      I know presa can sometimes but a bit rough on play but that can be trained.
      But boerboel as puppies but almost fully grown same with some others might have similar issues just due to still being goofy puppies. Similar reasons many supposed big breeds don't work well for families.

      @bmxriderforlife1234 Рік тому

      @@EliteBoerboelsI thought about it. Yeah they probably are equal, but the st miguel cattledog does have a few interesting advantages. The energy levels though could make it a disadvantage for many. But the undocked and cropped looked can still be very intimidating looking when they switch on, versus when relaxed the curly tail and floppy ears with the size doesn't looking that intimidating.
      Also dog thefts where I live are common. St miguel at least in my situation is rare enough most idiots won't know what it is and try and steal it as a puppy. Versus a corso. Boerboel and presa are more likely to get spotted due to them being the giant breeds. St Miguel's are a bit too small for most of those types.
      But I suppose they all have their own issues. Herding instincts and children can be a bit of an issue and primitive type cattledog instincts and cattledriving instincts can be an issue.
      They're all gorgeous breeds though. And black boerboel are deffs some of the most beautiful dogs I've ever seen.

    Im pretty sure i could outrun the rottweilers of today 😂 we call them "Pugweilers" nowadays and dumbass breeders where i live (basically glorified puppy mills) import a crap ton of them and sell them to public (which sadly is like a status symbol where i live and most of them spend their whole lives in a cage) stating them as "top quality" 😂 i think a stray dog can outwork them now

      Agree 100% , it’s a lost breed but they were so good ! Back in the days it was a impressive breed I owned several and they stay in my memory for life .

      ❤ I hate the new Rottweilers. I found my girl and had to drive 13 hours to get her. She is the old school look. She is probably a little too tall for breed standard but I would rather have that than the brachial dogs they are now pushing.😅😅

      And I have 60 boerboels at the moment in my farm , and I owned around 10 canecorso , maybe you got a low quality boerblel because a real one is better in literally everything, canecorsos only do 1 thing better is jumping … but I wanna dog not a canguru so :) I know people can get protective when it comes to comparing breeds , but better to just accept reality as it is :) this is not an opinion of someone that own a dog or 2 , literally hundreds and hundreds of dogs pass throw my hands , boerboel is by far best dog period .
