One of, if not my favorite podcast from you so far. He’s totally right, your podcasts have allowed the community to hear so many different point of views about the game, which is so important for a game like this. I hope these never stop, and people continue to show up for these. This is YOUR THING Tri! And you’re so good at it! Keep it up man!
A like isn't enough because it becomes just a number, so I'm gonna reply that I agree with you. I'm loving these 1 hour interviews. Although sometimes I wish that they were more flexible and lasted longer, there has been a couple episodes where Tri or the guest had to leave and things felt like they were cut short.
Never fully sat through a Jung stream but I like bro a lot. I thought he had a super analytic strat for making broken builds, but he's legit just trying stuff out like the rest of us lol this was a nice change of pace
I agree with Jung, thanks for what you're doing. These interviews are great. And in general, your enthusiasm is infectious. Just stop calling people "you butt!" Haven't heard it in a few weeks, which is good. I suggest you keep it that way.
Was a great podcast! Loved how he approached his content and LOVED what he said about path of building. Path of Building is not needed for experimenting and I have had way more fun trying out things blindly. There are plenty of interactions you can't learn unless you are testing things in game. Instant fan of Jungroan!
PoB isn't needed for people with the time to make costly mistakes for sure, while I mostly enjoyed it without it sometimes damage would nosedive for reasons I couldnt work out putting me off trying something out there with my build so I like PoB allowing me to 'test' things without hours of farming back to square one. Waiting for an economy reset to jump back in cause ended up bricking 2 lvl 80's with stupid build attempts 😂
Cool talk and a very interesting perspective to shed light on. I'm really enjoying this series of interviews. I especially liked the positive note Jung ended on: Yes sometimes patch notes are throwing a wrench into your system, but it's much healthier to see that as a challenge to break the next best thing rather that sink into a mind state of doom and gloom.
I've heard of Jungroan in passing, but never consumed his stuff. This was a great introduction to him, for those of us who are new and unfamiliar with him.
gotta lot of respect for this guy, he gets good and owns games like a true nerd, i can tell he enjoys breaking numbers and seeing the biggest crits, while enjoying a difficult challent at the same time.
So really great interview Tri. My comment is for the competition part at the end. I saw the PoE gauntlet for the first time last year. BLEW MY MIND. So good, so fun. In PoE2 any race is going to be fun to track/watch. Kerp up the great work bro.
The D3 comment (and the GW1 slip) point to a universal fact. A hardcap burst damage constraint in development monster side produces some of the best mechanical depth options or forces the devs to suffer/admit their lack of skill (as Actiblizz often showed off). And it should apply to bosses, even their ultimate moves like the arbiter flame tunnels and fryingpan ring assuming a proportional investment has been made to defenses (as in, you dedicate a solid 80% of your passive skill tree on reducing enemy damage and amping EHP), resulting in a slow clash of titans just as a full glass build should have the proportional time reward in a "hp side david vs goliath while damage side meeting of peers" case.
The idea of playing a game and just "seeing the numbers and the skill" compared with noticing the environmentals is a big difference in how/why folks play. IMHO, the ambiance of this game is great, though I never played POE, so I'm still connecting with the lore, but the graphics and sound are incredible. The bloom effects are wild on a 4090.
Re: "PvE" balance...one of the benefits of "tank" classes in other games is the ability to keep the attention of a boss, so that the DPS can focus on not standing in the green/purple/fire on the floor while executing their combos.
8:10 wow, other than the slight hesitation, I'm impressed how neither of you cracked a smirk, laugh or giggle saying coc so often. I could never do that.
Jung is basic research with rudimentary and brutal implementation, testing the bounds of intended behavior of the game. Ben is applied sciences for build purposes, optimizing confirmed bangers with a focus on sourcing the requisites efficiently and being willing to grind it out, if needed.
Thanks for the podcast. I said the same thing a while ago as Jung, for the last 12 years I would've been watching USA News as my favorite drama TV show if I didn't live here and it wasn't actually affecting my life. All of this is so ridiculous
I'm fine with losing xp on death after a certain level. I'm fine with the one portal system. But pls give me another shot at whatever mechanic was on the map 😩
Mercenary Mace Witchhunter with Zealous Inquisition Stampede + Bleed Hammer of the Gods, combo Seismic Cry, Leap Slam, Resonating Shield, Stampede, Shield Charge. A lot of fun
Great cast. I'll also recommend mace. I started a warrior on Dec 6th and got to maps using dual 2-hand maces. The basic attack is the one I use for main damage. About halfway through campaign, I started un-spec'ing defense passives and later ditched the shield. Slower, fun gameplay.
im saying now the trials of ascendencies will push people away, my bro who is casual but has a week off, got to the 3rd trial got killed (well lost honour) then went for it again got killed on the boss, he then said I just played for an hour of game time for absolutely nothing, and has uninstalled as of about 4 or 5 people I know - it seriously needs to change IMO
Tri you mentioned that you can't think of an issue regarding the target dummy but have you thought of server capacity? It might be a reason too. As i write this the POE2 site/trade is down and i think we should pressure them more on upgrading that part as a higher priority and for second to fix all the perfomance issues in game before focusing so much on nerfing classes etc.
from the little i remember from devs, they are kind of afraid that it would take too much work, cause they imagine you would need a fully customizable dummy, so people can test on white mobs, magic, rare, bosses, pinacle, and then you want to test mobs with certain mods, bosses with mods, etc..
After losing three exalts because I died before I could clear the pack and loot made me decide to wait until it’s been fixed. That is very frustrating and whoever thought it was a good idea can FO. 😢
So glad to hear someone being honest & ranking PoE2 as like a 7.5 outta 10. How many people got their best gear from trading b/c crafting is a waste of currency? Progress grinds to a halt in mapping & just turns into currency speed farming in order to buy power. There's always a fear of random 1-shots, & the punishment for death is ridiculously harsh. The game mode & the trials are what people didn't like to do in PoE1, but now they simp for it in PoE2. And if you're playing on console... god have mercy on your soul the game runs so bad.
You really aren't buying power, since all of the items you are buying are crafted or found by other players. I've been selling some items lately and have made some currency from it. It doesn't take too much trial and error to craft some good items. All you need is the right base piece. Trial of the sekhemas needs work for sure though. People need their ascendencies, so having a system that makes certain builds useless early is not good.
I used to dislike this channel, especially pre PoE2 release due to reasons often parroted then. But you've turned me around with the work since release, it has been great and now I'm staying subscribed. Fantatic interview, once again.
So interesting your take on cruel. I couldn’t find gear for my ranger to save my life. Played standard campaign with 2 friends and none of us could find decent gear on our play through. Finally used the trade center to get cheap gear appropriate for our level and it felt amazing finally not being killed by everything and feeling like our characters had some modicum of power. The trade house really turned a slog fest into a much more rewarding experience. I guess it comes down to preference. I don’t mind one shotting bosses etc.
22:22 I think Doryani would have a test dummy. Optimizing our performance with the help of a befriended NPC is well within the immersion and lore of the game, IMO.
Jung seems like a very chill and eloquent guy. I hadn't interacted with his content that much before but a lot of the highlight channels and general community discourse around him paint him as some sort of supervillain, which is totally undeserved imo.
To be fair he is much different on his own stream and will use much harsher language when talking about certain people. But like he said he really does try to only call out people who try to push subjective statements as facts.
As a player that's new to actually loving end game in an ARPG as complex as POE2, it's interesting to hear all these number guys be interested in the numbers instead of mechanics and game feel. I hated math in school and it takes a lot to make numbers even remotely interesting to me. This game does a good job of it though.
Super nice podcast. Training dummies would be nice but for real build-testing we would need an NPC that "trains" with us. Both Doryani and the Vaal Priestess are capable fighters in the lore, they should be able to take a hit xD
those shield guys on the dreadnought need a rework, they pile up on the narrow bridges and you cant damage them from the front so some builds get cucked super hard
hey I recently saw one of your videos where you mentioned you will have another interview in February, please i beg you to ask a question about the skin prices. What i mean by that. Path of Exile got insane high skin prices, most full armor sets cost 45€ and some up to 89€ The despair armour pack + back costs: 148€, this is insane. I love to buy skins and i spend huge cash in games like league and i know a lot of other people do so too. I am sure if skin would cost around 20-30€ for a full armour pack WAY more people would purchase them and in the end they would make a win even with lower prices. I would really appreciative if you could ask them if they would be open to test out a skin pack with a lower price to see if it will sell more then the average. I hope you will be able to fit in this question i know i am not alone with this issue
I'm really hoping with the other six characters the new ones that they drop 1 every 2 months or something like that instead of just dropping them all at once.

The guy has a high HIGH skill floor to his gameplay and doesn’t notice what is Jank for everyone else in his objectively strong builds. Well rounded Clunk from a well rounded Hun… guy.
I don't think they should have nerfed the gorilla. I think any time you can't beat a boss. You need to backtrack and level up and farm for better gear. Until you can . I ran SSF All 6 characters 1 ascendancy for each one through to cruel, it just takes time.
When ppl spend so long in the base game that they can play it with their eyes closed then HC offers a new challenge. IMO, its primarly the no lifes and content creators that will enjoy HC. If you have a career, relationship, or family that needs cared for then softcore is actually the only choice.
Significantly changes the way you play the game/build your character & overcoming challenges feels more rewarding when death means you have to start over (imo). I agree though that it’s really only for people who have already played the game a very significant amount and have a ton of spare time to play in general.
on bossing: MMO boss design is WRONG, PoE is not turn based or tab-target, boss fight should not be pattern recognition and state-machine based, it should be a dance with the boss, boss should react to what you do, if you play aggressive, boss should focus on dodging you, if you play defensive, boss should try to break your stance, if you escape to heal, boss should pressure you MMO bossing is most boring when your input are action-realtime based i can't believe that's what jung is suggesting; no wonder everyone wants to build for one shotting bosses, they are not interested in the challenge, hence why they want pattern based bossing so they can turn off their brain and one keep ose shotting things, skill less
I didn't find cruel to be overly easy. I think it was easier then the first 3 acts on normal but killing bosses in 3 seconds was definitely not my experience. I actually found the campaign to be easier with my warrior then my sorc. I'm using arc as my main skill so maybe that why, but I know bosses aren't rolling over and dying for me that quick. Mobs do melt tho, but I still have to pay attention as I don't have much ES stacked yet. And I guess to be fair tho I crafted alot more on my warrior cause it was my first PoE experience and I was enjoying it. But my 2nd time around, after playing for 60 hours already I didn't even bother to craft many magic items because it just doesn't feel good and it's just a waste of currency.
The part where you talk about the fact that one corpse detonate and kill you I must agree I loved the game but it just so annoying that I had to go back to WoW is was to annoying, most of time you don't even see what killed you.
You are not even talking about the bigger problem. Grinding Gear is nerfing on min max build and that break the entire game apart. The irony of the situation is that the game is literally turning to META only builds because of this stupid nerfing.
The game turned into meta only cause the skill and character balance is horrendous not because cast on freeze comet got nerfed. Also it’s a popularity thing, there’s a million viable builds in poe1 but within 2 weeks 20% of the playerbase is playing 1 build cause it’s the path of least resistance
on campaign, i agree, it's great 9/10, however, some achetypes have very very bad skills, they should entirely rework/change most skills, they are unsatisfying to use and very sluggish that is why people rush to one button builds, GGG will never acknowledge this because it is admitting their lack of actual dev skills
on that note, GGG pls design more skills like ice strike, meaning combo based with multiple animations you have budget for it, if you don't have skills, fire your team, and hire in south korea
This community is proly the only gaming community ive ever seen where a non triple a company can produce a solid piece of work and still get told by neckbeards that they "have no dev skills." God damn they just put in a massive fucking endgame patch fixing issues and they have 0 dev skills. Obviously they need to get Howwwwww on the team to really fix this shit ig.

46:49 the majority of mechanics in the game feel obscenely punishing to melee. It’s like an 80/20 split of anti melee vs anti ranged.
Ranged does tend to work better overall, but there are some very good melee builds out there. Lightning strike monk seems to be the best atm
Bring back racing season with demigods
I love jungle Ryan
that's a based take at the end, thanks for the podcast
Long as videos put me to sleep.😊
Komrade jung 👍
Jung one of the goats
The part where you talk about the fact that one corpse detonate and kill you I must agree I loved the game but it just so annoying that I had to go back to WoW is was to annoying, most of time you don't even see what killed you.
The master baiter has spoken!
42:49 bruh, I’m not playing a 10 minute boss fight in any game. Lololol
try any souls-like :)
@ I played Demon Souls and DS1. I havnt liked one since though. Maybe I just got my fill of them. Idk.
Different strokes
Hire him and make the game more fun
You are not even talking about the bigger problem. Grinding Gear is nerfing on min max build and that break the entire game apart. The irony of the situation is that the game is literally turning to META only builds because of this stupid nerfing.
The game turned into meta only cause the skill and character balance is horrendous not because cast on freeze comet got nerfed. Also it’s a popularity thing, there’s a million viable builds in poe1 but within 2 weeks 20% of the playerbase is playing 1 build cause it’s the path of least resistance
@@Geechi_It also stems from not really knowing what is viable.
You should interview Elon Musk next!😅
GO LIONS
Assuming he speaks Chinese was hilarious XD.
He said he surfed Bilibili, the biggest Chinese social media. Turns out he just enjoys the videos on there!
He does speaks some Chinese but reading Chinese is just another thing
We need more cheap endgame builds …Help me! 🤣🤣🤣
on campaign, i agree, it's great 9/10, however, some achetypes have very very bad skills, they should entirely rework/change most skills, they are unsatisfying to use and very sluggish
that is why people rush to one button builds, GGG will never acknowledge this because it is admitting their lack of actual dev skills
on that note, GGG pls design more skills like ice strike, meaning combo based with multiple animations
you have budget for it, if you don't have skills, fire your team, and hire in south korea
What if GGG gave Elon Musk the account to play with on stream?
I loved early d3
