"i'll push myself to exhaustion." that phrase defines the mamba mentality. Easily the hardest working basketball player ever, this world won't be the same without him. RIP Kobe

The sad part is that people watch motivational videos like this and decide to start putting in the hard work and then get burnt out. What REALLY makes you respect videos like this is when you've ALREADY been putting in the hard work for a long time and watch videos like this to REMIND yourself why you are making your body and mind go through all of the heavy lifting, conditioning, etc.

Advaith hey man. Last year I was a Junior in High School and played JV even though I was better than most of the players who played Varsity. And it was a private school too. I had gone to all of the conditioning/open gyms all summer at the school. But as soon as tryouts, a bunch of kids show up and get played on the Varsity. I have good grades but not enough credits to graduate this year so I am having to stay in my Junior year again. Today I found out that I made the Varsity. It's just a bummer though because once again a bunch of kids show up to the tryouts without coming to any of the after school conditioning and get put on Varsity just because they are seniors. My younger brother didn't get to make the Varsity team because of that even though he is better than most of the kids.

Advaith Bro i feel you. Ever since 9th grade i wanted to play for my school. I worked my ass off after i didn't make it that first year to make the team. Then in 10th grade I had to switch schools because we moved, couldn't afford to pay the bills where we were. The shit part is that we moved in mid November and i had to go through the process of enrollment in school again so i missed the tryouts at my new school. I was so mad i decided to work harder. I had gym that 10th grade year and we played ball everyday. The football coach asked why i didn't play on the team and i told him my situation. He then told me that i definitely need to tryout the next year and he'd put in good word for me since the basketball coaches and staff didn't know me. The next year (11th grade) while still working hard with about 2 months and a half before tryouts, i injured my back. I had a pinched nerve in my spine and multiple hernias. I had surgery and couldn't do any physical activity for 5 months atleast. Obviously i didn't play that year either. Now in my last year of High school, tryout time came but i didn't have time for them. Besides that i was and am out of shape, i was having family problems with both my parents passing. And now here i am. Just trying to figure out what to do. 4 years bro. 4 years of wanting to desperately play on a team and failed every single time. Now i only go to parks and some indoor gyms but its not the same. The competition is non existing. I want to try to join a league over the summer atleast. To get some organized basketball experience that I've always wanted. But yeah bro we're all struggling. When i got injured in 11th grade was the worst. By that time i was friends with most varsity players and they all had high praise for me to the head coach telling him to keep his eye on me come tryout time. There was no way i was not making it that year. I had everything. The speed, the strength, the vertical, the shot, the passing, just everything bro. But shit happens.

Use negative motivation as your tool on your path to success to prove how great you are to have patience to work hard on your craft train hard win easy it may not happen straight away keep fighting for your goals dreams to make reality a lot of great athletes never even dreamed when started that ever achieve what have but use the tools from negativity to over come to train harder than anyone else 1st in gym last to leave spent every spare min have working on our craft to have the love for the sport that drives us to succeed as kids in school we would never thought possible of winning titles but we did with courage to believe in our self to not be afraid to lose when you fear you already lost never be afraid to lose this is the best way I can describe how to win how to make dreams come reality

  • @mauigio
    @mauigio 9 років тому +87

I remember tears streaming down my face when I saw Michael Jordan run into the locker room after winning the Championship, collapsing to the floor and crying out "Daddy" "I love you Daddy" "This ones for you Daddy" "I love you" getting teary eyed writing this
Michael, who's father was murdered a year before, the most touching and humbling moment I have ever seen in my life. I'm sure Kobe Lebron and Derrick were watching and felt the same way. I love these 4. Nothing but respect for all of them.Come back Kobe, your the last image of Michael and yourself that we have left!!! And I'm a die hard Dubs fan saying this. Steph will be in this group one day.
Only cried two times in my life during sports. The Giants winning their first World Series in 2010, and Michael crying out "Daddy" winning the Championship on Fathers day in 1996.

I see a lot of comments of kids saying they want to be a star in the NBA.
There is 5 things that you need to have.
    1) A determination for the game.
    2) A love for the game that never burns out.
    3) Always beat on your craft. While other people are out partying. Work your ass off in the gym.
    4) When something doesnt go your way, such as not making a team, getting cut. Make that your motivation. make your come up greater than the knockdown.
    5) Never listen to what people have to say about you. If you know you have a dream and you know you can make it in the NBA. There opinions dont matter.
(my username is just a joke.)
In all seriousness. Keep your devotion to the game, dont be afraid to fail. and dont listen to negativity.

This video is such a motivator like I used to watch it back when it came out and lately Ive been ashamed to watch it but now coming back to it I relaized how motivated I get from this video. As a lesson from someone whos trying to walk on to a college team. You have to put in the work everyday and remember that people will try and deter you from greatness because they dont see themselves achieving that greatness. They will laugh and mock just keep on going and stay motivated even if no one sees the dream or the results or understand where this drive you have comes from. You see it and with some prayer and hard work youll get there. Because I believe that I will dont worry about the doubt you hear as long as you dont doubt yourself and if you do remember that hard work will always pay off in one way or another

I'm 14 yrs. old and I am 6 foot 1 inches tall. I play basketball at least 3 times a week and I always play for 3 hours or more at a time. I have been doing it since about seventh grade and I am in eighth grade now. I made the team last year. I was center and back then I was 5 foot 10 inches tall. My best game was 4 points and 2 rebounds. The stats for me were not that good but I am hoping this year when basketball starts where I am at that I will do better. These videos motivate me to keep working hard and playing basketball. I may not be shorter like you but I can relate to you because I haven't been the best always. Anyways I have gotten a lot better this year and can shoot a lot better too. Hope the best for you.

Yeah but before that ! can you accept losing ? this is how Legends Like MJ , Magic Johnson... and other Legends showed their real power ... by losing ... Only a little percentage of players achieve their dream ... its HARD but If you want it more then the others then you can do it ! If you want to make it , you gotta accept haters also ... and the reality in the same time ... its a fight between yourself and only you!

For me instead of struggling and suffering seeking for success we need to flip this page and start seeking and looking for the way how thing achieved and complete that will lead you automatically to find yourself and know more about her and most important you’ll learn how much time you are really need to success. Because the main reason for most our failure is our unawareness of the importance of time❤

I'm a hockey player that WAS on the 4th line of my high school hockey team during my junior year. I felt I could do way better. I felt I had assets that were better than alot of people on the team. But no one saw it in me. Everyone said I sucked. Senior year I was a borderline 2nd liner, but played 3rd line on occassions. After that season, I went onto college. I'm in my junior year of college now, and out of everyone that was on my high school hockey team, i am the only one that plays hockey still.. I play for my college and I don't suck from what my teammates have said..
It wasn't easy to get to my position. I had to gain 25lbs, get faster, better at balancing, lower resting heart rate, better eating habits. It was so hard let me tell you. There's days where you feel you will never make it, but you wake up the next day and push yourself in the weight room, on the field doing lateral movements, etc. Let me tell you, don't give up. Most high school players give up on their sport after high school is done cause they can't compete at the college level. I didn't think I could either at points, but there was always belief that I could. Now it's a reality.

little speech i wrote awhile ago and never showed to anyone, hopefully some can find inspiration in it.
    -----
"Not today. Maybe later. Another time. I don't feel like it. I can't do it."
Humans. We all have the same mindset, the same way of thinking.
We always think that when we're opposed to something bigger, greater, and better than us, we cannot win. No matter how hard we try, no matter how many times we try, we can't win.
But that makes beating defeat taste so much better.
You see, I'm just a 15 year old kid, who loves basketball. A basketball-loving kid who has one goal, one dream in life. To play in the NBA.
I never played on my school basketball team because I was always to nervous of what people would think of me.
    "He's trash.
    He'll amount to nothing.
    Give up."
They all insulted me in hopes that I would just drop to my knees. In hopes that I would give up. But I took those words, those insults, and I embraced them.
I work my ass off. Every day. Never satisfied with what I'm at. There's always room for improvement. Always.
You have to learn to use those insults as strength. Aspirations. Things you want to achieve. Because there is never truly a journey if you take one giant leap. There's multiple steps, and roadblocks, and so many things in your way that you'll want to just quit and never get back up.
It's not about how many times you fall. It's not about how far you got before you quit. It's about succeeding. You can fall a million times. You get back up a million times, and every single time you get back up, you tell yourself, "I will. I will do this. I will. I will succeed.".
Take Kobe Bryant. The kid with a dream. Countless grueling hours in the gym, busting his ass for satisfaction and driving himself to exhaustion.
Kobe Bryant is undoubtedly the most inspiring player in the history of the NBA.
    He has fallen.
    He has failed.
    He has tasted defeat.
He rose. He kept getting up. He did not let failure overcome him.
Kobe Bryant. The Black Mamba. Love him or hate him, he is the definition of greatness.
So will you let failure beat you?
Will you fall one day and finally have enough?
Will you quit? Is everything worth it?
Sometimes you have to look inside yourself to find the answer.
    You are the challenge.
You are the one you must overcome.
    You must beat yourself.

This video literally got me from being one of the worst basketball players in my school to one of the best, atleast in my year level.
Man I worked so hard I put every sweat into it, but at the same time my brother helped me.
