Online defending is absoluely impossible in this game. How do you predict someones moves if he plays fast through ball and your players are usually about 10 meters away and not switching quick enough. Its ridiculous . Your defenders are never anywhere near the ball. It really seems that only effective tactic is to go hard and try to break the opponents legs and there is like 0.0001 % to see a red card anyway. Dont get me wrong, i love the game but online is just broken. Ppl are just abusing game glitches and there is no way around it.

what controls are you using? im confused on why you are using r2, and r1 the way you are. i thought there is no shielding of the ball with any of the buttons, except for the analog stick if you position yourself in a shielding position

Any help for intercepting passes? Like I’ll be in the passing lane and the pass will just bounce off my player and go to a player on his team. Is there something I’m missing or does this game just suck?
my question:is there some sort of trick in the options that I have to do? I lose every single rebound. I can't select the players I want to defend with, I can't sprint as fast as any, ANY opponent , the trick moves I can do offline don't work online even if I am completely alone with no opposition around.... this game is impossible for me.

I’m on the cusp of switching over from fifa to pes. One of the things that puts me off is the second man press. I like all other parts of defending on pes but the second man press should never be able to win the ball back for you in my opinion. Just hate to see the AI making tackles without the user input. Would be better if they just jockey and stay close, then, if you select the closest player you can manually take the ball.
Hey dude, make the jump! The AI is really dumbed down to stop others relying on AI to win the ball back. They're good at pressing the ball and adding pressure but it's very easy to go around them. Good Vs AI but weak Vs a good human player. Make the switch dude, it's clear EA can't do anything with FrostBite
Same goes for me if i attack with my defenders and win the ball back its a foul or my opponent plays a one two pass and scores.if i try to keep distance and cover the free spaces he just walks trough and makes a long shot.this goes for online and offline last year i played on legendary this year i lose against leveante on top player🙈

If the opponent shoot to make some goal, in or out the penalty box and then i always press X and its must be blocked, offline defending because i never playing online 😀
How do you defend against your own players not knowing what direction to face or just standing there having a cup of tea? Played the demo to death and have to say the AI is awful.

Can i ask you guys out there, because of the lag, its almost impossible to play a passing game. I have to play quick passing to the forward as soon as possible. There's no way to slow the game down.
Try the stadium cam with 0,4,10. Makes a big difference also...play with high support range 10 (so players are spread out) with hug the touch line. This will help.im sure if you want to play a possession based game

Im new (back) at PES after playing FIFA for 8 years and pausing for 19 after being sick of it. Now I suck at defending, can anyone explain how and why supercancel is used when defending? What does it do differently than just jogging or sprinting without pressing x or square?
Meh Spoonz there's a bug on PC matchmaking! Pass support is stuck on "similar level" and since I play unassisted I can't get a match! When I do get a match it's a noob who can't manual so he get's frustrated and quits. Every single time! I guess imma have to reinstall! :/

On the reply you should always use Slo-Motion on the encounter\action you want to highlight and comment over again. the rest should be normal speed if not, faster then the original clip. Will save a ton of waste view time.
Noted dude, check out tomorrows tutorial and let me know if the pace is better. The gamepad is really important, so being able to see what's being pressed and when is important, especially to new players.

I have big defending issues too since the patch.your passes are probaly off because you have to watch your players positions even more when you pass you have to turnn your player in the direction you wanna pass but this takes alot of time and your opponent can run up on you then your pass hits your opponent and is going somewhere else
Nice tips bro, this is pretty much exactly what I have been doing all these years in my defense system. One thing to be noted though, I do not think it is good to press x while you are holding R1+L1 (super cancel), which will somehow affect (to certain extent) your intended movement of the player.
@@SpoonyPizzas Yes, I understand that tapping x at the right time is good. What I mean is holding x down is a bad idea, it will re-adjust the R1+R2+LS direction. I would think it is better (as what I usually do) to use R1+R2+RS only to get in the right position (front and sideway, close enough) and then tap x.

Need more details in defending like when and where to press and when to just be paasive and block passing lanes cause i got myself too silly one on one goals because of one-two passes and tiki taka etc My friend play with 4 strikers and he is very good in one two passes and exploit the defence i dont know what to defend there 🤦♂️
Track runners as I did in this video. If you're not tracking runners and chasing the ball... You're defending totally wrong. Track runners = end of 1-2s
If i have already pressed it will be too late to track the runner if the defender is already got too far against 4 strikers it is so dificult to press the ball carrier or to track runner seems to me as a bug in defending if it is more than 3 strikers 🤦♂️

My biggest tip is to maintain the defensive formation. Don't make more lanes for your opponent then necessary 🤔.

Lol, it can bounce but you can hold jockey button (special.controls) just as he makes the pass so your player is facing towards the ball.

Defending is atrocious this year as is player switching...this is first pes ever i cant defend...also trying to cut out passes seems to have vanished

A lot of people abused AI last year letting the AI defend for them. I'm happier you need to take a proactive approach to defending

Online or offline? 2020 isn't good mate. 2021 is much better and more responsive

filips989 R1+R2 super cancel gives you full control movement on the selected player. Go on spoony 🍕 art of defending vids

Why do you use super cancel to win the ball at 9:58?
Just allows more control. It's harder...but allows for more precision when tackling
How is smalling still in ManU online ?
My player will literally just run past the ball sometimes, is their some sort of setting that changes that

I meant R1+R2 for super cancel...
Tapping X is actually a good idea. This can cause the opposing player to stumble. Giving you more time to get away

Online defending doesn’t exist. It’s waiting for the opponent to shoot and miss so you can start attacking
