- The BMW M240i packs a lot of performance for the price. Under the hood is a 3.0L turbocharged inline-6 producing 335 HP & mated to a 8 speed automatic. With the ability to have top done fun in the sun and a great looking upscale sporty interior. Does the 2020 BMW M240i perform like a convertible M2?

great camera angle! I've watched dozens of videos and urs demonstrates the speed of shifting the best. Damn the 8 speed ZF shifts like a dual clutch
just picked up a 2017! Brilliant car. Good for right in between the M2 and the lower end 2 series cars. Great daily driver and great when you want to have some fun. Plus I found one in manual, which just makes the car that much better. Great review.
2018 M240i twin scroll turbo has functional side openings on front bumper. I wonder why they blocked them on the 2020??
This is a fabulous car even though it's not a "full" M2. Interior is showing its age though but there is an all new model is due later in 2020. Look forward to Joe giving the M2 Competition a review too.

You need to review the x3 ssuv. By far BMW's biggest seller and possibly the best ssuv on the market.
Sport + helps tighten the steering if the car is equipped with it but I have the same problem in my 428i real sketchy if you push it through a turn the car wants to oversteer .

Hey Joe this is funny that your doing a video on this car I’ve been heavily researching these for my next purchase recently. I personally don’t think they are diluting the M badge with this car because they’re not labeling it as a true m car it is the m240 not the m2. Kinda like Audi has the S3 then the RS3.

Beautiful car but the convertible component looks super fragile I mean what app is debris on the back part and when you flipped put the top back on it doesn't close properly I don't know

I know what you mean, I tried out a 2020 the other day and felt a little nervous with the confidence from the feel when i hit turns with speed.
Looks like a regular 2 series convertible; they could have done more to the body work, as you rightly said.

I have the exact same car in a convertible in a manual STICK...only way to appreciate the performance in my opinion.

@@RaitisRides yeah I've seen some of the E-class that has the black leather too and some of the red leather I don't know if that's any better but the red leather sure looks hot not heat hot but hot looking!

I think these cars are great but convertibles don't look nearly as slick as the coupe. Considering buying used low-mileage and then tuning with intake/Remus exhaust - similarly priced to Mustang GT/ Camaro SS but much quicker, and better interior. XDrive version is also quicker than M2 RWD off the line and living in Northeast, better for inclement weather (although wouldn't use in the winter). $40-$45K for clean 2/3 yr old, not bad. I need to read up on maintenance costs/reliability with the platform, but they are nice.

BMW M240, M340 and M550 to bridge the performance gap between the basic setup and the full on M and it’s been highly successful and so much so Mercedes Benz is now doing it. It’s an M that you can daily drive.

Good morning ! I don’t think the new M2 comes in a convertible body. It’s only a coupe: M2 Competition.(as you know)

Raiti's Rides : I liked the M2Comp /the new version and of course the M2 was nice last year. But after test drives of these cars, plus the GT350 and Cayman, I ended up buying a Bullitt for $50k (out the door) with 2 options - Electronics pkg and Magneride. It was tough deciding but the Bullitt was the best buy or most bang for your buck. IMHO. I was looking for a nice daily for a fair price with a cool look and fun to drive!

I'd prefer to 240i over the m2 cause you can get awd. That and somewhat better mileage is a plus. To me, those two pros outweigh the lower performance

@@thabangkhunou7959 there’s not much sadly, there’s a 335i hard top, the 4 series also has hardtop so prolly 435i/440i but the 8 series has no hardtop
Great video! But this is not the 'smallest' car that starts in the BMW range as there is the 1 series. The M140i is just finishing and there is going to be the new M135i ... also as the M240i is an M Performance car the things you mentioned like front splitter, trunk spoiler lip etc you can have them all with the M Performance pack. I see your model has the M Performance rear diffuser and M Performance exhaust system so not sure why you dont have the other M Performance parts? Also a bit confused as to why this is the '2020' M240i but you dont have the 2020 dash inside it and have the 2018 / 2019? Very informative video tho, thanks.

This car looks so dated. That small infotainment screen, analog gauges, manual handbrake, that weird antenna at the back. Also the wheels are too small. The only thing good about it is that the engine sounds good and that it’s quick. But for $60k, I definitely expected more tech than that.

M2 is a much better car, especially when it comes to performance and handling but a bit more expensive than this convertible. Don't ask me how I know but then again I'm biased ;-)

This car is a daily driver. Noone in their right mind would want to put commuter miles on an m2.

This M light shits on the m2 performance tho lol. the b58 engine was at first at 450 hp, but bmw said its to much so they lower it to 340 hp, there is still dyno videos out on youtube showing this engine has all from 350-370 hp STOCK. And the m2 dyno video show less hp then it says it has lol.
M2 competition is the real M2 and they shit on the m240i.
