My dad did this when he was younger, I'm 20 now and bought my first BMX Bike myself. I have put almost 300+ USD into it just for some parts where I can do Flatland, I have gotten this one trick down, ⅔ of the way at least, I just need my gyro to complete the trick 😂
I think my dad is proud I am picking up where he left off pretty much. He was badass on a bike.

Unreal. I think RAD was the only movie that I watched more than Top Gun as a kid. Just watched it for the first time in probably 20 years and knew every word line for line. LOL

These guys's performance moved me to tears. Reminded me of the time when I had seen the film RAD and how the film inspired me to pick up a BMX and try out all the stunts. The movie still plays on my mind and reminds of my childhood. Those were the days when having a BMX bike was the greatest thing on the world. All in all an awesome performance.

i know right. these guys inspired me to be a bmxer. and i am 46 and still throwing tailwhips and more. i made a rad tribute video on my page and the official rad movie fb featured it. i redid the intro to rad with the music doing all kinds of old tricks. these guys inspired me.

I’m 43 and this was the greatest film of my year added to my collection. Cru was the best!
Me and my friends got hooked on bmx after watching rad,we even build a huge quarter pipe in high-school wood shop as a project and we all got alot of road rash from that thing over the next few months till we got better
Remember watching Rad when I was like 7 or 8. It was the reason I picked up a bmx. Rewatching it at 37 yrs old, Love Rad!
Can we please go back to 80’s life was so much better back then. Rad was a childhood favorite especially since we had a local bmx track to race on.
These two guys gave me inspiration to freestyle in the 80's. Now I enjoy mountain biking in my later years, but I still pull off a trick or two from that era and impress my friends. What a great time to be a teen. They will always be my first biking idols.
This movie was the best back in the day. We would watch it, and then go out and try to do the same tricks. I forced my 3 kids to watch it a couple years ago on Father's Day, and they actually loved it!
Aparijo is just so smooth and flawless. I didn’t think about it back in the day but I see it now when I look back through old videos.

For some of us 40somethings, the memory of watching RAD as a kid brings back the wonder of growing up. Which makes watching this clip today weirdly emotional.
LOL! I am always telling my kids how there will never be another time like the 80s. in history no better era to have lived in as a young adult than the 1980s!!! I am so grateful for the experiences I lived through.
I freaking loved this! I was 16 when this movie came out and it blew me away. Kids today don't realize how cush their lives are compared to when I was a teen. So when a movie came out like this for us to see. It was epic! I so want Rad to be on a DVD!

There's no real dvd release, just a bootleg ripped from the laser disc release. With a printed dvd sleeve. I saw it on a avgn video.

it got a 4k release but it sold out quickly. You can find it on ebay for 200+ now. It is from a company called Vinegar Syndrome, most people have never heard of this company since they release mostly B movies. some people thought it was a fake release
I just got to meet Eddie here in Vegas on the 20th..was many years in the making but I finally got to see him..we talked A LOT..he told some stories, we all watched RAD and he explained things that were going on..I got to ride HIS bike, we had a great time. My 1st experience meeting any pro and I have to say I was blown away..he didnt ride MUCH as he just had hip surgery a few weeks ago..LOVE 80s and oldschool ROCKS!!!!

I agree with a previous comment-this movie completely changed my life. At 12 years old I knew this was what I would do and give it my all. Now 26 years later I'm so proud of what I've done. Still ride--more cautious, but this movie was the genesis of my identity.
Bike magic is a real thing. These gents actually did this. The Bike mastering is very inspiring and note the upper body and core strength. Bizness!

I had the pleasure of meeting Eddie Fiola for a whole weekend when I was 16 & I have to say he’s one of the funniest guys I ever met , I was sitting next to him on his right side when a friend of mine had a stun gun , Eddie asked him to see it , he took it & zapped his own leg with it & was like ok that’s enough . I was like your crazy I even got to ride with him that whole weekend . I was working for a bike shop that a friend worked for at the cavalcade of customs car show in Cincinnati Ohio , they needed help so I was there to sell stuff with them ,never got payed but had the greatest time of my life .
Man this makes me wish my 87 Dyno wasn't in storage back in Kentucky with me all the way in Cali. Saw Rad when it first came out on video. And it's one of those movies that I'll always love to watch!

As a teenage this movie change my life and kept me out of trouble. From sun up to sun down I was on trying new tricks on my Mongoose Decade Pro. I'm now 38 and I plan on buying a Mongoose freestyle bike at Walmart soon. O what fond memories, I had in the 80's and early 90's. Until this day my nick name is Goose from the Mongoose Decade Pro I use to ride so much. Even some of my closest friend don't know my real name. lol

That intro to the movie with break the ice song was my favorite part of the movie , I still love that song , to me it’s one of the best intros into a 80s great !
52 years old in 2022 (will be 53 in November). Freestyling will always be a part of me. And these two guys (along with other pioneers like Woody, Mike, Ron, and then Dennis a little later) laid the blueprint for all of us. Eddie still smooth, and Martin still with that energy. I miss my tricked out Haro Sport and practicing tricks for hours until I nailed it. Great memories.

I saw Rad when I lived in St Lucia back in the 80s, the film sent us crazy. Everyone was buying bikes and trying to kill themselves. Martin Aparijo and Josh White were my favorites. BMX Plus mag became an instant must have. Good memories.
I'm 49 & still have my 1985 Mongoose with the Skyway Tuff 2 rims. Still can do most of the tricks I used to do. Wished I had my GoPro back then.

Capturing this anniversary Boogie for my eyes is one of the greatest things the internet has ever given me. Fucking watch the hell out of this movie back in the day with my rad friends. This, and Thrashin'.
The RAD BMX freestyle movement continues in South Bend, Indiana, at a training indoor park called The Kitchen BMX Skatepark. It is an incredible indoor BMX dream with 33,000 plus square feet area of ramps, jumps, and foam pit to practice extreme aerials and flips. You have to go there and see it to believe it. This movie inspired thousands into the sport and it is a 2020 Olympic event in Japan now.
I grew up on the same block as Martin Aparijo on Wayne St here on Chicago's north side. I truly looked up to him as kid!
Wow! I just bought my 1984 Hutch Pro Raider and at 52 I will never let age be a factor. I hope I can get my son in the sport.

Just celebrated my 49th and my eife got me a Rad Racing t shirt then iff ti the movienin the big screen. My best friend and I wachted this movie everyday back then and soent hours and hours copying these moves, 180s, infinity rolls and so on. The movies like this and Karate Kid taught me to be tough, perservere and never quit. Add a 80s training m9ntage soundtrack and boy its on!

I’m 41 in a few weeks. Nothing feels better than teaching our sons friends foot jam whips. Everybody is brakeless now, damn I miss flatland. Time to add another bike to the basement...Mirraco is in storage at my parents, never selling it, it holds special place 😉
Kudos to Martin & Eddie- SOOOO many ppl don't hang onto the skills & things they did in the past, & turn into old people. Great that as we get older we can still show off the old school. Tricks are so much harder when the body gets old lol

I'm 31 now, but I used to spend hours trying these moves as a little kid. Wish my parents had made some videos of my attempts, and many injuries that were inspired by 'Rad'. Broke my arm at 5 years old trying to jump a creek after first watching this movie.

I remember getting the VHS for my birthday when i was probably 10? 33 now. I watched it for 5 times that day.
Martin looks about 10 minutes older than he did in 1986... meanwhile my hair is gone and Just For Men is my beard's best friend.
I still listen to "Break the Ice" by John Farnham while riding from time to time. So cool to see how so many of us express the same sentiments about these guys and the indelible mark the movie Rad has left in our hearts.
