In plans buy it as a central speaker in the 5.1 system, via adapter RCA(f) to 2 RCA(f). Must be good.
can you pair to if these together for a stereo pair? because right now I currently have a 2 Sony XB43 in stereo mode and honestly couldn't ask for anything more from what it is !

The R1700BT and D12 are in different categories... The D12 is a compact speaker while the R1700BT is a stereo 2.0 bookshelf speaker. If you have the space, you should go for the R1700BT for better sound

Greetings from India 🙏 4/5 stars for the review 👍 however Edifier d12 @ rm399 doesn't make much sense when the latest R1380db speakers are available @ rm499....
It's meant for different use cases. The D12 is a lot more compact than the R1380DB. If you have the space, bookshelf speakers are definitely the way to go for a better sound. But the D12 will fit in spaces that the R1380DB won't, and that's where it will shine 😁

R1700BT if you have the space. The D12 is perfect for space-constrained deployments, but the R1700BT can pump out much better audio

Put optical on it...and it's mine!
Run an optical cable from the optical output on your TV or media player to the optical input of an inexpensive DAC, then connect the DAC's RCA outputs to the RCA inputs of the speaker. Or connect the coax outputs of your player or TV to your DAC via a coaxial cable.
