  • A proper James Bond boat - this one was owned by the legend, Sir Roger Moore. He kept it in Monaco and cruised the South of France aboard it.

I grew up with Sir Roger as 007 and he's probably my favourite. I've read his autobiography and he comes across as having a great sense of humour. He was a keen practical joker and my favourite story was during the filming of The Spy Who Loved Me. There's a scene where he's driving the Lotus car that turned into a submarine out of the water and up the beach. He hid a fake fish in the car and as the cameras rolled and it drove up the beach he lowered the window and dropped it out. Apparently the director went mad, but people loved it so much that it made the movie! RIP Sir Roger, a legend.

I've just found the fish drop scene! Bear in mind he did this for a joke to wind up the director and look at the expression on his face - what a legend! :D ua-cam.com/video/xYdDXJRmORo/v-deo.html

"Those were the days, my friend, we thought they'd never end..." I copied that paraphrase from something I might have remembered - but it seams to fit. Roger Moore represented the "tech agent" of super spies. His talents were always enhanced by his "goodies" - they never replaced his abilities. This boat is soooo that ethos (Word Of The Day calendar). A fun ride down memory lane (waterway) - thank you so much, Nick, for sharing...

Regarding the boat - you can see that it was a quality boat when built in the 90s by the way the interior has held up.

There's "particularly interested in showing" and then there's "particularly interested in buying"! As much as you love Smugglers Blues II, I think you would be a FANTASTIC owner if there was a Smugglers Blues III !! Considering its age, I'm VERY impressed with the condition of that boat! The leather, the helm station, the WHOLE BOAT look as close to new as possible! The only place that I could see needing some attention would be the teak flooring. It says a lot about the current owner and also the amount of quality Sunseeker put in their vessels! She's a very lovely and interesting vessel, for sure! Thanks for this Nick!! Cheers!!

I grew up on the Norfolk Broads. Sir Roger had a farmhouse and boat moored in a small village. My cousins and I had drinks on one of his boats, in the 1970's. We used to bump into him around the village in his white Lotus. We met many of the cabaret acts starring in Great Yarmouth nearby and never thought much of it.
Coming across this vlog brings back memories of my childhood, thank you.

Sir Roger was the Bond of my youth as well.... also, my family had a friendship with Bell Boats in Brundel... Vic Bell being behind the Moonraker 30 then 36 (softrider).... One of the early buyers was Roger Moore... the boat was called Lady Dorothy (if my hazy memory is right) after his second wife, Dorothy Squires....
When I was looking for a Moonraker a few years back, it was for sale, cheap and looking a little jaded... wish I had bought it 🙁
It was an early non flybridge sedan, twin 6354 Perkins ...... lovely boats, in my opinion.

Also, this doesn't take away from Moore's portrayal of Bond, he was great! I just thought Connery was a better fit for the character.

Regrettably I don't think I will ever be in a position to buy any of the boats you review. However, I love your reviews and the fact that it is not rushed, the camera picture is never blurred and I'm not going dizzy, because some people turn to quickly with the camera. Being an old geezer Sean Connery has always been my Bond and I have always loved the scene 'From Russia With Love' where he is in, I think a Fairey Huntress. That boat always sounded just right and in its day seemed fast. I have a couple of classic cars and so tend to love the older things when they were simple to understand and feel the same about boats, it would be smashing to see you do a review on a Fairey Huntress if there are any still about.
I have only recently subscribed but, I am back tracking and loving all the reviews keep up the good work and stay safe.

Sir Roger never kept a dinghy in there, it was the crew quarters for Tatoo!

You made me snort a bit when you said "Sir Rog"!! lol.
I was just as bad, when you showed the bed, I could hear him say "Shall we go to bed, darling"..? Like James Bond, with a raised eyebrow, but to his wife obviously.
    Enjoyed that. Thanks.

Nice Boat Nick unlike many others I don't think he was the best bond ever, I am pretty sure that Sean Connery has won that accolade. However he was a very gifted actor and a very good James Bond. At 89000 this has got to be a great purchase for someone.

Objectively you're probably right, but it's hard not to love Sir Roger in the role.

0:11 Roger Moore's first nickname was “the Big Knit” - so perhaps that's the "K"?! His autobiography ends “Not bad for a knitwear model.”

I believe he had a villa close to the boat, so this would just have been a dayboat. Probably never slept on it. For owner operation lazy days out this is perfect.
