Makes you wonder. If the church covered this up, what else is going on that is being covered up?

Polar_ Bear0110 How many churches have things going on, that the congregation doesn’t know about. How many members have sinned? I hope the people aren’t holier than thou!
God be with you all... I will continue to pray for the church, congregation, and pastors....

Back in 1988 or so in the South Barrington Church I heard him (Hybels) say in a message/sermon that he always traveled with people to be his character witnesses so as to avoid any impropriety. At the time I thought: "Well, if you are doing nothing wrong... why the need for a traveling companion/protector, character witness. Then, a week or so later his wife, Lynn made a plea on stage for several more millions of dollars for an addition to the church building... he also did a sermon where he asked us all (those of us being stupid enough to attend the church) to sell our Porches, BMWs and Mercedes' and fancy wristwatches, all the while, he was living the life in a big fancy house that the church was paying for... So, I wrote him (Hybels) a letter and addressed their bizarre statements and ideas. He wrote me back and said I needed to seek the wise counsel of a good "Christian Psychologist." Then, I got to thinking... "So... I pay more in real estate taxes on my house in North Barrington than he does for his one square mile church and compound. Thus, we bailed-out of that sh*&hole. What a bunch of crooks. Nothing less than a bunch of God-Damned perverts and crooks...

And here it is, 5 years later, and there have been zero consequences for him. He gets to live the life of a multimillionaire, gallivant around the world with his family, and enjoy. So grieving for the women who will never have reparations.

I can’t believe that he intended to do what he is accused of. I used to go to church there, but stopped because of the long distance. If however , is true, I hope the people can forgive him, because he does speak the word well. We as Christians are supposed to be forgiving people, as the Lord tells us. Is one sin worse than another? Who that go to church, are we without sin? When I heard what was happening, I prayed for Bill, his family, and the congregation that they too would have forgiving hearts. Jesus, our lord, forgives all if they ask for forgiveness & truly mean it. I pray Pastor Has found another church and continues to preach. He was blessed with that ability from God. If he was guilty, I pray he can forgive himself and not stop preaching.
Some times people act or say things that are taken the wrong way. In what way was he supposed to have done? Is it right for us to condemn someone for their sins? The Bible says, he who has not sinned, throw the first stone.
May God be with the congregation, Pastor & his family. In Jesus name, I pray......

There is a right way and a wrong way. He is way too old not know the difference. As much as I do not want to believe this of him. It was not just one person there were more. He should be forgiven but not to hold another preaching job. How can he be trusted. Just because he is a man of Faith he is too just be given a pass, I don't think that is the way it works.

If he is guilty, he is unqualified to _be_ a pastor.

Ro Schroeder, there are many lessons in the Bible that speak of false preachers who use the Word of God to profit themselves. He did not have Jesus in his heart to do what he had done to so many innocent victims. He is what is taught in the Bible of evil and evildoers, that is where he is. Satan is very well-versed in the Bible just like Bill Hybels. I was a witness to his evil doing and I was stalked and my house broken into because I was JUST a WITNESS and had all these done to me by him. He is purely evil using Tax Laws to live a Millionaire's Life. He should be in prison for his level of violence because he threatened me and my son's life should I speak of what I saw. I didn't know I saw anything until he came after me, that was the whole thing that got me, I didn't even know that wasn't his wife he was with. So, you go ahead and act like a fake good Christian but you are to rebuke evil and its followers (which is you) and they need to be punished under man's laws, and Judged by only God. Your stupid sermon is letting all the murderers out of prison with forgiveness and forget the laws for punishment. You should read the Bible again, Jesus didn't let Barabas down off the cross and heal him to go rob again, no, he let him die and then took him to paradise, only Jesus forgave him.

Is one sin worse than another? Yes.
Who that go to church, are we without sin? No, but it is expected you are living a life in repentance and if you are a shepherd that you feed Christ's Sheep.
Is it right for us to condemn someone for their sins? Condemn them to hell no, remove unworthy and bad stewards from a position they are abusing yes.
You need to stop with the paddy-cake gospel. Christ's Mercy is endless but you can't pretend that he didn't spend more time talking about hell during his ministry. More than half of the NT was St. Paul admonishing Church leaders for their failures and giving them replacement bishops because the early bishops had failed in some way.

@@dharmajoy938 I attended many years and agree. But he and Lynne were very liberal themselves and recruited like-minded staff, so they started it down that path. I moved out of state just before the allegations (which I don’t believe) came out, so I remember it as a thriving community. I’m sad to hear your update, but not too surprised.

I've known Bill since I was a teenager. I am now 61 years old. I say those women are full of 💩. They were only out to hurt him, his family and the whole congregation! Most likely they wanted more than he was willing to give. They should be ashamed of themselves!

I attended Willow for many years. He was very outspoken on politics from the pulpit and I strongly disagreed with him (and Lynne). It was like nails on a chalkboard whenever he brought them up. So you wouldn’t think I’d be in his corner when the allegations came out, but I was, and am. I don’t believe those women. He was about to retire and they just had to ruin his legacy and bring shame on the Church. I’d love to ask them: was it worth it?
