My sister works for Goodwill and comes accross Griswold, Wagner and the vintage Lodge. She always grabs them for me so I can get her employee discount. She "Erie" #8 chicken fryer that we didn't realize had a hairling crack in it. When you slap the bottom it rings like a bell! The crack is barely visable and it retains water without leaking so I love it use it anyway, i'm just careful not to heat or cold shock it. I LOVE the weight of Griswold,... it's easier for me to handle with my back and other joint issues.
Heya Mudbrooker. I have a question - I also enjoy cooking and grilling with cast iron. Do you think there's a general difference between honed cast iron and pebbled ? And, what do you think about chainmail cleaners ?
Chainmail scrubbers work good. Performance wise, there's not really much difference between smooth and pebbly textured surfaces but the smooth ones are a lot quieter when you're stirring something.
I picked up a number 8 slant logo Griswold Erie, no EPU, so I’m wondering if I got a decent deal on it for $160? I also nabbed a #5 SBL Griswold smooth bottom for $45 and two heat ring one #5 for $40 and a heat ring # 3 BSR for $40. Just wondering if you feel I did alright? Thanks
@@BornIn1500 well, I may have but I own them now and they will be in my family for decades to come so I guess it is what it is? They were in perfect shape also, didn’t have to be concerned in after cleaning them up they weren’t worth anything
Mud sorry I missed this! Have a question. Found a Good Heath number 12 can't find anything at all about it. Like it doesn't exist? Have you ever heard of it? and if so is it worth anything? I know that they're made by Griswold. But a 12 isn't even in my book. Can't find any past sales or anything.
Good Health was a sub-brand or alternate design/branding produced by Griswold for Sears! Sears had many proprietary lines of cast iron cookware from companies (see Wagner's "Long life" skillets) and the point was basically to sell them with a higher profit margin than they would be able to sell name brand cookware.

I found one of those earlier this summer! The crazy E auction site had a few listed for $350 to $400. Pretty sure they are still there.
Haven't seen a #12 they might be fairly rare. I've seen most other sizes though.

While they're not super rare they're scarce and in demand, so the price reflects that.

They aren't all the same. Large logo from the 30's? Or small logo? And of course condition really matters.
