One can only hope! I was at about the only event where he DIDN'T have a stunt going on. It's worked though, it's got more publicity and injected some fun into an general election campaign that's either been safety first (Labour) or like walking the plan (Conservative).
Kier Starmer wanting to spend Friday evening with his family is admirable. I remember David Cameron went out for Sunday lunch with his wife Samantha and family. Set off home then realised they forgot their kids.
Hey UK! I used to take a break from horrendous usa politics by listening to LBC but you all are almost as scary as ours. I am thrilled that Labour is prob going to sweep… if so I will be cheering you on! Keep the right wing goons at bay… -old lady, usa.
The media is entirely to blame for this. Davey has to pull a stunt to get any media attention whatsoever, Farage whispers and every mic in the country comes to his aid. It's madness.
Misquote from Rudyard Kipling for the Tory party. "If you can keep your head when all around you people are losing theirs" YOU haven't realised how serious things are.
wow, 2 more days and the end of Tories will be coming. I knew since 05 that Cameron will be a disaster for conservatism and that Davies would have been a much better PM.the first thing that shocked me in a positive way the first time I visitied Britain was how big and rich was the youth cllub in a village, better than the best club I saw in a big german town in 06. What a shame
This whole "they're not paid enough" thing is spurious. For lots of Tories, being an MP is passive income. The reason this has all been so bad for them is that the Tories are at best an idea-free zone, and at worst the polite version of Reform.
Portillo turned out alright once he quit politics. I'm not sure what will happen to this lot. I just hope some of 'em have to apply for Universal Credit...
Listening on UA-cam. postal votes didn't arrive but we were able to pick up replacements at the civic hall. Will hand in on polling day and won't risk the mail.
Well you heard it hear folks the Tories a party all about tradition and family values supposedly criticizing a guy for upholding a tradition and family values
Labour supporters: "Lib Dems are irrelevant you never hear from them" Ed Davey: "Hold my beer" "No. Not like that." Thinking maybe Labour trivalists just can't be pleased no matter what.
The problem with regulating political advertising is that it can end up sounding like the government telling other political parties what they can and can't say. That's the traditional rationale at least.
Sunak will take the blame but no one could have recovered from the disasters of Brexit, Johnson and Truss. I give Sunak 10% for calling the election when he did and his many gaffes since calling it.
Do you think the caller Andy was deaf?? Cos he just kept talking and would keep going even when James tried to interject and contribute. What an absolutely awful caller. Doesn't even matter what he was saying, he was just unlistenable.
Labour: Keeping its head down trying to get the ming vase across the ice-rink Tories: Rebooting every five minutes Lib Dems: Lets copy Blue Peter. I'm voting Labour but I appreciate the Lib Dem approach this year.
First impression of the reaction to the Starmer statement was revulsion. Second thought was why did he need to say it? Social media has pics of him at meetings, not having tea with family. First thought of Ed Davey antics was not another Bozo but second, after listening to callers, was complete conversion. What a great guy and drawing attention to disabilities left me with mixed humility and admiration
Ed Davey feels to me like an earnest version of Boris Johnson. A Boris-but-he's-not-a-bastard. I remember a conversation with a friend back in 2015 about how bumbling, got-stuck-on-a-zipwire, Rugby-tackle-a-child Boris was getting her vote. Ed Davey's antics seem to me like that, but also he's trying to have some fun because the Lib Dems won't be a leading party anyway.
Wow ...... politics opened up and insides eaten..........bit like a lobster......alaways claws left over after feast ........tons of calcium donated to mother Earth
Come on James. Please stop with the bet hedging. You can't seriously continue to come with the "nothing is guaranteed" thing. You begin to look disingenuous. If Labour return the numbers it looks like they will, you get to crow. If they don't, you get to say "see. Told you so". Granted it's a clever ploy, but really it's pretty dishonest isn't it?
@@TheLucanicLord Exactly. Those of us old enough to have lived through those events learned the hard way not to mistake polls for election results. Saying "nothing can possibly go wrong now" is absolutely asking for a meteorite on the head. Murphy's Law is real.
I'm assuming Ed Davey is going to end his election campaign by parachuting into his local polling station to cast his vote...

Yes! David and Samantha were that used to the nanny. Forgot that the nanny wasn`t there! She was doing the hoovering.
Are there enough Days in the. Week for Boris to take an evening off to spend with his kids 😅😅😅😅

Thank you, ma'am, and I hope for all our sakes yours also becomes a goon-free zone this year. It's looking grim at the moment, but there is time...
you'd be surprised the amount of losers who actually got mad at Ed Davey for these stunts.
The media is entirely to blame for this. Davey has to pull a stunt to get any media attention whatsoever, Farage whispers and every mic in the country comes to his aid. It's madness.
At the first PM questions session after the election I'm looking forward to seeing Big Ed abseiling down to his seat in the commons.

The line between Tories being a polite version of Reform has become increasingly blurred these past few years.
I think there's a question to be asked about how Starmers view on Israel/Palestine is influenced by his marital status and lobbying donations?
Its going to be fun Thursday night counting up the Portillo moments.
They're going to be renamed Sunak moments after Friday morning!
