  • Presented by Mark Weathington, Director, JC Raulston Arboretum on August 1, 2023.
Sure, the weather's hot right now, but our plants are even hotter! It's so wonderful that we're able to experience all four seasons in the Piedmont of North Carolina… Even if our summers can be a bit heavy-handed when it comes to heat load. But that's ok, because the JC Raulston Arboretum is full of plants that not only handle the heat, but thrive in spite of it! If your garden is looking a little tired this time of year, you're not going to want to miss this Plant-lover's Tour highlighting the plants in our garden that hold their own under the summer sun.
The JCRA does Plant-lover's tours like this on the first Tuesday of every month. Be sure to check out our event calendar so you can join us for the next one! jcra.ncsu.edu/...
This program was originally presented live and in-person.

Araucaria araucana are hardy to at least zero f but cannot get them past about a year. The moment the warm spring rains show up the root rot burns them to a crisp. The most rot-sensitive plant I have ever tried to grow. Finding hybrid seed or high elevation angustifolia seed would be appreciated.

Is it true that some variegation comes from a virus ???? My loquat here in GA never fruits which I wish...in Statesboro while in school we got great fruit in the early 80's..
