Curious, where else have you skied to lend some objectivity to that remark. I see a lot of roads and pathways, great views when cruising (not carving/playing) on piste, don't think it compares to some American resorts like Aspen, Vail etc. with wide intertwined runs through the tree lines and bowls (skiing, not the quaint European ski village attractions and Apres). I too love the other attractions and am a regular to Saas Fee (just over the hill from Zermatt), but comparing purely skiing, I think the US resorts take the cake.
@@karunsingh7678 Let's go step by step. Saas Fe is a bit higher (to my recollection), but by far not that extensive. Aspen is somewhat easier, smaller and does not have so many extra long runs. Where have I skied? Well, in excess of 40 places around the globe, except for South America. The only one I could rate somewhat close to Zermatt is Whistler in Canada.

Going from the top of the Mattterhorn Ski Paradise - didn’t feel the need for an extra layer: base, mid, and padded ski jacket. The walk from Matterhorn Ski Paradise station to the centre of the village is a pleasant 10-15 minute walk - no need to wait for the bus. Thumbs up to ski run suggestions - will try out every single one of them!

Sitting at the hotel in Zermatt. Weekend was wiped out by bad weather but just had 3 tremendous days with 2.5 days of sun. I avoid the piste and ride next to it, if you are advanced, there is 8 inches of untouched powder waiting to be ridden Been to Val Thorens, Val D'isere, and St Antons and Zermatt has been my favorite, loved them all.
Great video. Makes me excited to return to the Matterhorn soon. Cervinia is definitely a much better value and the food is guaranteed to be better in Italy and get to ski in Zermatt and Cervinia. Night life in Cervinia is pretty good too. Ciao.
It's super easy to book a holiday in Zermatt, a direct train from Zurich, and a single train swap at Tasch. I believe the accommodation cost is identical across all 5 stars Alpine ski resorts in Europe! 😊

Fabulous place to ski, but I couldn't justify the cost every year sadly. I actually don't think it is that difficult to get to, the train service is very efficient.
Sorry, Drew! we will do so on the next reviews as much as possible, FYI, accommodations here are above average of course, but there is a hostel here and you can find cheap accommodations, particularly from Mid march to April. With the current inflation, we will miss the prices already in some of the reviews. we are now in the post production of Lech ski resort, and the ski pass prices rise quite dramatically during the editing process. we use narrators in fiver so sometimes its a hassle and costs money to make changes. In the close future, we will recommend accommodations in our website, where we can go a bit deeper than in the video.
Great skiing but awkward to get to and expensive. A 6-day ski-pass in the middle of January runs to about £330. You might have commented on the likely cost of a beer and an on-slopes lunch. Well, I'm off to have a bowl of Alpen, for which I now have an inexplicable hankering.
I hope you had a good ski holiday. I agree that Zermatt is expensive and hard to get. Regarding the prices, at the inflation rates of our days, I am afraid that the prices during the shootings are not relevant anymore🤔
Really good video! I love zermatt - only thing I disagree with is the nightlife score haha the music is too old for me so under 35’s be aware! Hopefully more young people in the resort will change this though (mainly old rich people visiting) would also put more emphasis on igluu doorf in between gornegrat/ riffleberg - they do fondue for lunch in the igloo which is cool (you will get better fondue for better price in village but experience is good) or if you just want to have a drink they have sunloungers outside with views of Matterhorn which is lovely with a beer or beverage in the sun :)
It‘s Rothorn, with a T, like red in german, because it glows red in the evening sun 😅 . Been there several winters as a ski instructor, always fun to impress the guests with all the possibilities. Best in the world imho 👍😊
There's a beginners area at the top of Sunnegga. I was in zermatt January 2020 and it was a magical, beautiful place, can only imagine what it will be like in the festive month . I'm booked again for next January. Hope you have a great time.
In no way is this a beginners resort. Of course everywhere has their green runs but to get to them in Zermatt requires lifts when you ideally want them near your accommodation. Once you've got confidence on blues and some light reds then I suggest you try Zermatt otherwise you'll be spending much more money than you need to.
Love the reviews, however Zermatt is definitely not the best summer ski resort in europe apart from the perspective of snow reliability. There is only one run to really ski and that is it. For Summer skiing Tignes (although, from experience, this resort tends to have more difficulty regarding the snow quality during the summer), Saas-Fee and Hintertux are much better. I talked about how Zermatt has better snow reliability but the truth is that if you're not getting snow at the top of Hintertux for example, you're most probably not getting it at the top of Zermatt either. In fact the FIS DH and SuperG race that was mentioned didn't take place this year because of a lack of snow showing that even this ski area's strongest point doesn't have that much of a bite to it.
i think the skiing in summer thing is a marketing stunt. i've not done it but it seems to me many are up on high glaciers that are flat. with only 1 or maybe 2 lifts open. just a bit of a stunt. makes for a good selling point. no one seriously going to rave about flat green slopes summer skiing. fun to do. bucket list thing. but hardly something one would do year in, year out, b/c its so good !! really for skiing, wait for winter. ski in summer only if you have some time and money to kill !
Absolutely untrue this is the only ski are to stretch over two countries !! The Ischgl area in Austria stretches into the Swiss town of Samnaun ! So to ski cheaply in Swutzerland go to the Austrian town of Ischgl and you can ski in and out of Switerland and you can also avail of the duty free shipping area of Samnaun at the end of the ski run and take the lift back into Austria with your duty free purchases !!

great video... BUT !! seems to me many of the runs are long narrow roads and paths. i HATE that sort of skiing. i like a full mountain side where i can choose my path NOT be directed and limited to a pathway, skinny, narrow and no freedom to choose my path. just have to follow. i guess there's much more that you didnt show, with 360kms of runs. but i was super disappointed with what you showed. way to many paths !! roads. i hate road skiing., no freedom. just follow the road and fight for space with others on the road ! hopes it better than it looks here ?!!!????
Sorry you were disappointed. It is hard to get a good shot when the angle is to steep. I agree that a lot of the shots here looks like ski roads, because i choose the best shots of the views. but most of the ski runs are quite wide. The video was shot in April so not a lot of off-piste possibilities. I love to ski after the snow cats, maybe because i love the smooth shots
Ridiculously expensive? I don't know if I agree with that. We're from the East Coast of the US and it's cheaper for us to ski Zermatt than Vail, Colorado.
Some dodgy pronunciations! Was the commentator just reading from a script? Lots of ‘facts’ but somehow failed to capture the essence of Zermatt. Left me wondering how much the producers have actually experienced Zermatt?
"the producers" experienced Zermatt, but they used fiver voice-over artists who sometimes struggle with pronunciation. BTW, which way do you recommend us to pronounce the names? German? In my experience, if we pronounce it as Brits, we will get comments from the locals. if we try to pronounce it like the locals, we get comments from English speakers. If I were a native English speaker with a radiophonic voice, I would have done the narration myself and saved time and money. if I had more money, I could use a better voice-over artist😉 BTW, which names were pronounced badly? or is it the accent or the intonation of the narrator?
