Agemonia, an enchanted world brimming with magic, is experiencing its greatest upheaval. Earth tremors, tidal surges, electrical storms - the cataclysmic events are increasing and driving the mortal races to the brink of war. What could this have to do with the resurgence of mysterious, ancient devices? And what of the approaching darkness that reaches from beyond the shadowy gates of the Breach...?
Agemonia is a fully co-operative board game with challenging, moral choices, set in an expansive storyline for 1-4 players. Live your destiny, and become the mightiest of unlikely heroes - or even the most despicable of villains - in this unforgettable adventure!
Gameplay
As your Heroes explore the Scenario map, story points are triggered, revealing more information about your surroundings. They may provide useful equipment or treasure, spawn new enemies onto the map, or give your Hero an opportunity to test one of their abilities: Might, Agility or Will, by rolling dice, and spending Stamina. You spend Stamina in the form of Stamina chips, but these are also spent and flipped to their wound side when your hero takes damage, reducing the amount of Stamina available for you to use. Each turn your Hero will perform an action (such as attacking, healing, or focusing your abilities) and a maneuver (such as moving, meditating to regain precious Stamina, or recovering to heal your wounds) in either order. Choose wisely, as your choice of action will also affect your turn order for the round, and coordinating your actions with your fellow Heroes is key.
Combat
Each Hero has one or more actions that allow them to perform an attack by rolling dice and spending stamina. Attacks may be melee, ranged or magic. Melee and ranged attacks require a weapon to perform, and a good quality weapon will enhance an attack. Each Hero has a selection of different attacks to choose from that can be changed on their Hero board between scenarios.
Each enemy attack is of a fixed value and is linked to one of the 3 Hero abilities: Might, Agility or Will. The attacked Hero will have to test the corresponding ability to attempt to resist the attack. Damage is taken by flipping over your Hero's valuable stamina chips to their wound side. Too much damage and your Hero may become wounded, gaining an injury. Some enemy attacks may inflict a negative condition on your Hero such as Bleeding or Entangled which they will have to overcome to continue their heroic deeds."

This was one I came so close to backing but decided not to since I just have too many hours of big campaign and/or legacy games that it's hard to see how they would all get played. Even so, it looks really good and I'm definitely tempted all over again. May have to see how the initial reviews go and then look for a chance to pick it up later.

Good enough. Unlike isofarian guard and vampires the masquerade chapters they need to sit on top which leaves me no more room on top lol

Those books are HUGE. That's awesome. Kinfire Chronicles was a fun one for me, but the map book was on the small size.
I won my copy in the BGG contest. Just played through the first campaign and I’m loving it so far.
Usually I’m pretty impatient about the minis in a game. I just feel that it’s hardly worth the time to go search for the right mini, but I really like these. they seem to be quite distinct and different, and they each capture the personality of a certain kind of enemy. I think I’m really going to enjoy them.-Toby
This was one of the best deals on kickstarter I’ve seen in a long while. The game is great. The components are great. The art is spectacular. My only complaint is around the storage being slightly messy but it really is just a few things that are hard to find places for. What a pleasant surprise and we still have Arydia from around the same time yet to deliver. What a nice treat to start the year!

I cannot wait for this to arrive on my doorstep! Of the kickstarters i backed in the past few years this is the one I've been most looking forward to, I love the new box design more than their original as well.

@@BoardGameCo when you asked if you should show the tiles, I verbally yelled at UA-cam like you could hear me, I rarely burst out like that. This game has me nearly giddy with excitement. this is one of the few games that got me into Kickstarter and board games. I've pledged like 150+ games since this first pledged. I've received a few of the games already, but this is the one I'm most excited about.

Did you notice the other layer of minis underneath?
and there were no Vespirs missing, they had just moved a bit to the left in the box.

Yes, there is around 40 miniatures more in the lower layer 🙂

So gutted I missed this one. Looks fantastic, and I'll almost certainly pick it up retail/2nd hand. Having said that, I don't like how they use the Gloomhaven font. Tanares did the same, and it just seems... derivative? I don't know why it bothers me so much - it's just a font - but not loving it.
Gloomhaven uses the Pirata One font and Agemonia's title font is Varna. The style is similar, but there are also differences.
Can't wait to get my pledge! I opted for just standees, too many minis for me.

Original art design, engaging story...it was such a shame this game got buried underneath all the other campaign games during the Kickstarter. Now, because they deliver slightly later than most of the competition (still earlier than some others though), Agemonia can still become a sleeper hit if the gameplay itself is as fun as I hope it is.
Looking forward to this one as well.

How would you compare this game and Tanares Adventure in terms of preference at a solo or 2 player count?

This is one campaign game I passed on mainly because it uses the book instead of tiles, game group didn't like that in jaws of the lion and preferred tiles. While this game looks fantastic, I feel like it would be the least pick in terms of campaign games just because my group preferred tiles and I already have so many sitting around waiting to be played.
Thanks for the unboxing, and will watch your later review with interest. The big question that I have is how many campaign (or campaign adjacent games like Cthulhu Death May Die or Shadows of Brimstone and all of their respective content) games would a "normal" non-influencer boardgamer have? (hmmm, whats the bet that CMON does a campaign version of CDMD this year or early next year?). There are so many good ones around and more to come next year...
The answer is not much, as content creators they have to constantly show the newest game, so they have less time to play more then a couple of chapters from these campaign based games.
@@CheddahSlammer Yeah. My comment was not intended as a criticism of Alex, but more a reflection on the glut of good campaign game that are out there. In terms of big box content I have almost everything either in situ or due to arrive Too Many Bones, Cloudspire, second edition Hoplomachus/Victorum, Myth, Cthulhu Death May Die, Core Space, Maladum: Dungeons of Enveron, Gloomhaven, and quite a bit of Shadows of Brimstone, let alone non-campaign games in my collection (or those in the collection of friends). I struggle to rotate among these, but still find time to develop an interest in other games like Agemonia/Middara/Tales from the Red Dragon Inn/The League of Dungeoneers and so on. Luckily I don't have a need to own everything, nor get it straight away but I sometimes wonder about the market for these and how long they remain relevant.
I'm trying to decide between which to get first.... Agemonia or ISS Vanguard.... will get both eventually but which first.....

It would have been really nice to just be able to look into the miniature box for ourselves - instead of having you just show us a few random miniatures.
