Enjoy! Once again, thank you all for all of the support! This channel exists because of the love we all have for board games. There were some games that shifted on this list and many that made an appearance for the first time. I hope you enjoyed this list! Take care, Solo Knights Sincerely, Solo Board Gaming Knight
I was super happy that you included SW Outer Rim, Resident Evil, and Marvel Legendary--they excel as solo games. Outer Rim has one of the best AI mechanics of any game I've ever played. Exciting list!
As an old and purely solo player, this is a much appreciated video. Even many of the largest, longest established boardgame channels, still largely ignore the solo gamer, even though, I feel, it's a growing demograph. So thank you.
Growing up in the 80’s, I completely missed out on this hobby. Now that my kids are no longer kids, I find myself enjoying solo board gaming a lot. I feel the same as you when it comes to coverage of solo board games. There’s a few channels out there but there definitely needs to be more. I appreciate your comment and I’m glad you found the channel!
Dude… talk about perfect timing! I’m looking for lots of solo board games/card games I can play to myself in peace and then this video popped up! Absolutely fantastic. Thank you! Great work too!
@@SoloBoardGamingKnight Do you know off the top of your head which of these games have an official one player mode? Only reason I ask is because I noticed some of these games don’t have a solo player mode. I take it with these games you play the role of two players? Is that right?
@@DangerDee Any cooperative game can be played two (or more)-handed solo. However, for true solo only games, these are the games you’re looking for: Final Girl Warp’s Edge Wreckland Run Tamashii has a True Solo Mode Resident Evil has a True Solo Mode Legendary: Marvel has a True Solo Mode G.I. Joe DBG has a True Solo Mode but I prefer playing that two-handed. Marvel Champions Too Many Bones has a True Solo Mode but I prefer playing two-handed Hoplomachus Victorum (huge time commitment required) I hope this helped!
Thanks for the list, I can tell you put a lot of time and thought into it! While our tastes don't totally align (I was super disappointed by Adventure Tactics) it's great to see other excellent games like Tales from the Red Dragon Inn up here and newer games I've been interested in like Tamashii.
That’s what it’s all about! We may not share the same opinions but we get to get together and talk about this hobby we all love and are a part of. I’m glad you enjoyed the list and thank you for being part of the conversation (my favorite part of making videos)!
Yeah, it shocked me, too. I knew I was going to like it but it surpassed any expectations I had. It’s a great all-around game and one that actually plays as good as it looks. The expansions are really good, too.
Great list, thank you! I don't have all of them but a good chunk I do have and love them. The one game I'm rating even higher then Oathsworn (especially for solo play) is Isofarian Guard.
I’m glad you enjoyed the list and thank you for joining the conversation! You definitely caught my attention by mentioning Isofarian Guard. I’ll be looking into it.
Thank you! A lot of things are happening behind the scenes in my daily life. Just as with you and everyone else, life gets really busy. I’m glad to be able to release a video whenever I get a chance.
Your enthusiasm for final girl is what pushed me over the edge to diving in, and it’s one of my favorite gaming experiences I’ve had. You’re making it real tough to not buy oathsworn!
Your comment made me laugh! Since I grew up watching all of the slasher flicks from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s, especially while working at Blockbuster, Final Girl just hit that perfect spot for me. It had pretty much everything I look for in a solo game and it was a spoof on practically every iconic slasher flick I watched growing up. It felt like the game was made for me. Awesome game! Oathsworn is much more complex (although it’s easy once you get the hang of it and understand the rules) than Final Girl but it is really epic! I hate using that word but it’s the only way I can describe it. The biggest downside is the amount of table space it takes up. I play with 4 full characters and that takes up A LOT of space. Other than that, it doesn’t get better than Oathsworn when it comes to combat. Thanks for your comment. I really enjoyed reading what you thought. Hopefully your wallet survives! My wallet felt lighter for a month or so after I bought it.
It’s always nice to hear from you, Paper Smith! I’m glad you liked the video and found a few new games to add to your list! Your comment cheered me up! We’re even now 🙂
Awesome List, I never considered Oathsworn to be a solo game, but sure... it can be. Most of these titles would be on my list, too, but some I did not know about, yet. Thanks for the inspiration to look into some other less known titles ...
@@mirkozohren1139 I don’t mind handling multiple characters at once (although there is a way to simplify gameplay while playing Oathsworn, I decide to go all-in with the characters). I really enjoy the strategy that is found in Oathsworn but I wouldn’t recommend it to everyone due to the amount of time you have to invest to play it. I’m glad you enjoyed the video! Life has been busy but I should be able to upload a video soon. Take care.
Thank you soo much for not picking all the same games for solo, like all the rest. I really love that you brought on so many different games and you are not affraid off "hard to learn" rules. Many of your games are too heavy for me, but I did find some that I´m going to check out. I would like to ask, if you know and have played the games Mechanica and Zona - The Secret of Chernobyl? Mechanica: You are managing a robot factory. I found it hard to learn the rules, but it payed of and I love playing it. Luckily the rules has a lot of humor in them - I wish more games has that. Zona: If you ever played the old videogames S.T.A.L.K.E.R. you get the same feeling/vibe as the computer games - I have never experienced that with any other board game.
I’m not sure if I’ve already replied to this comment or not but for some reason YT had it on hold for review. I don’t see why. Either way, here I go. I’m glad you enjoyed the video. Since my channel is a personal passion project of mine, I don’t feel the need to follow any particular trends. Basically, if a game calls my attention, I showcase it and share with you all my thoughts. The reason I tend to be positive in my reviews is because I review the games I’m interested in playing not because I feel that other channels are reviewing it. I haven’t played any of the games that you’ve recommended here but I have been looking into the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Board Game that is on Gamefound. There’s also the new video game on it but I’m waiting for a few patches before I jump on board. Once again, I’m glad you enjoyed the video and I apologize for the long response time. Sometimes YT can be very strange when it comes to comments.
@@joshgeiger8942 Thank you for your kind words! Although I haven’t played Hostage Negotiator, I am aware that Final Girl shares some similarities with it. Most likely refinements here and there as well as a completely different theme. If you’re ever on the fence, the core box and an expansion usually go on sale via Amazon for a very decent price. That way you can at least get a feel for the game without breaking the bank. Usually, if there are two similar games that share a lot of mechanics and have a lot of expansions, I just choose the one that resonates with me the most and ignore the other. It can become too costly to own two very similar games with a lot of expansions.
Wow wow wow, what an awesome list, dear Knight, absolutely LOVED IT. So well done! Your videos never ever disappoint, and the effort you put into this is simply inspiring. Thank you for another glorious 20 minutes, my good friend. As always, can't wait for your next upload ❤ A huge high five from me to you. Hope you had an awesome weekend and hope you have a great week! All the best, dear Knight, and see you soon!
Mickey! High five received and another sent right back at you! Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed the list! It’s always fun to share these with you all! I hope you have a great week , as well. Take care of yourself, Solo Knight!
@@guillermoyaroslavlverduzco1551 I’ll actually keep that in mind. A bunch of games I’ve showcased on the channel have been recommended by viewers of the channel.
Finally had time to watch this morning!!! Amazing list(s) and thanks for taking the time to make this video! Really enjoyable, and I was just thinking when is FG gonna be on the list (surprised it’s not inducted into the Round Table). When you put out #1 I was surprised, whoa, no MC? No Bones? No HV? Haha! I am happy to know I got many of your top choices. Man, 150+ games… and you know the rulebook for all of them hahaha. I think what you really need is to go and get a copy of LEGENDARY ENCOUNTERS ALIEN because that one is the BEST of all of them and you will rave about it on your channel once you do manage to get a copy, finally. I haven’t gotten any new games recently as I have been clearing up space but I managed to clear out a spot for one or two more games now LOL so we will see what 2024 brings!! Anyway it is really hard to rank the top games, once you get up to the top 10 space, there are probably 20 games that deserve to be in the top 10 haha, good job!
Glad you got to watch it! I would’ve put FG as a Knight of the Round Table but I secretly wanted to talk about it again! It will end up with the KotRT in the future. I could’ve put another 30 on this list and I still think every game would’ve deserved to be part of a Top 10. This list was tough to make because so many of these games are really good! I slept on Legendary Aliens and I’m still kicking myself for that. I made sure not to make the same mistake with The Matrix. If it’s anything like Aliens, it’ll be hard to find in a few years. Thanks again for showing up!
I really enjoyed that video - thanks for taking the time to make it and all those table shots! Theres a few games there I've added to my "check it out" list!
You’re very welcome! I’m glad you enjoyed the video and found a few games to check out! I’m a huge fan of showing multiple shots of the board games I talk about. It makes for a fun video to watch and really helps with proving my points while talking about them.
The love for board games is so obvious, here. Just achingly respectful of the hobby/pastime/culture/art. The sleeving! The presentation? You gave me close ups so crisp I could see the weaving of the cards. The best kind of card quality! The kind of card quality that makes your fingers shout with joy. Riveting.
Absolutely! I can tell you appreciate the hobby just as much as I do. Getting closeup shots of the board and components is very important to me and I’m glad you noticed. It makes the time and effort put into making a video worth it. I truly enjoyed your comment!
I love that game so much, bud, it was my 1st ever deck builder, an awesome introduction to the genre. And with the best IP in the world (Alien), no matter what scenario you pick, it's a guaranteed blast 😊
That’s the one that got away! I had seen it at my local store a long while back. The next day, I decided to pick it up but when I got to the store, it was gone. From what I know about it, Legendary Encounters: The Matrix takes a few cues from Alien Encounters.
Enjoy.. I sleeved half of what I have for it (all the expansions) and was too tired to play after LOL but it is an AWESOME game and the best for this series.
@@SoloBoardGamingKnightThe scanning part is from ALIEN. With ALIEN you need to scan to see what the heck crawled onto the duct system!!! Sometimes… is nothing… but sometimes… yikes!!!! And you gotta stop them before they progress into your compound or it’s GAME OVER MAN!!! Hahaha
Somewhere on Endor the sound of Ewoks celebrating resounds--they're applauding your top 20--especially Star Wars Clone Wars and Star Wars Outer Rim!! Can you hear their flutes playing, SBK? The best part of your Top 20 is that you were true to yourself and consistent to the videos you've shared with us on this channel! Thank you, & May The Force Be With You! Happy gaming😊.
I loved your comment, Chris! It brought a huge smile to my face. Thank you! I really enjoyed your kind words and I’m truly happy that you enjoyed it! I heard the flutes! May the force be with you, as well!
Rulebooks are the most important part of a board game. Companies have to make sure they proofread their rulebooks before printing. When done wrong, reviewers should let everyone know before they invest their hard earned money on a game.
Roll player adventure is the only big rpg i have ever completed. I had both oathsworn, iss vanguard, isofarian guard and jaws of the lion, but I sold them all before even reach half way. Big recommendations!
This is so fun to watch and see your enthusiasm! And so many interesting and unique choices like Wreckland Run. Btw have you played the Akihabara Web Scenario for Tokyo Sidekick? I wonder if Sentinels of the Multiverse would be something I enjoy too as I like Tokyo Sidekick very much. Fun solo games I can recommend are The Night Cage and Astroforce The Dice Game.
I’m glad you enjoyed the video! It’s always fun to make them and I appreciate reading comments like yours! I’ll look into the games you recommend. Night Cage is one that I have physically held in my hands on more than one occasion. I’ll definitely give it a try. I had completely forgotten about the Akihabara Web scenario and because you brought it to my attention, I had to order it! I’m glad you mentioned it.
Ahhhh thanks so much for doing a solo top 20 list! I need to do my top solo games... I think I'm the same as you the I'm attracted to these big campaign crawlers quite a lot. I have tales from the red dragon inn and would love to get my hands on roll player adventures and oathsworn! I loooove Marvel Legendary too. it's a game Id never sell! Awesome list!!! ( apart from vagrant song which I HATED!!! heheh)
Thank you! If you like campaign games, you’re going to love Roll Player Adventures! It feels epic! Oathsworn is REALLY epic! I play it four-handed and love it (although you can play it with just one full character and easier-to-control companions). Good luck with your list!
So happy to see how well this video did for you man. Somehow I got unsubbed from the channel, but when I figured it out I saw these numbers… wow. Nice!
No worries. YT has been strange, lately. I just received your comment right now. It was placed on hold by YT for some reason. I have no idea why. Your comment had absolutely no vulgarity or anything. Anyway, I hope you’ve been well!
@ I think I might have had some viewers that didn’t like some of my opinions on videos that may have impacted my channel’s reach, which would have been right around the time that I made the comment here. Some folks aren’t ok with agree to disagree, they want complete agreement or they try to get you silenced unfortunately. You are doing a fantastic job SBGK! Keep up the good work.
@@booksbricksandboards783 Oh, man. I’m sorry to hear what’s happened to you. Hopefully you can come out of that situation with loyal subscribers that do appreciate your takes. Keep doing what you’ve been doing. Your channel has been growing quickly.
@ oh yeah, channel is growing and have lots of loyal subs… but definitely hit a patch of resistance to my channel for a minute. Back on the good side of algorithm now!
I was on a waiting list for Townsfolk Tussle. I ended up suffering a severe back sprain and was unable to do anything (I couldn’t even walk for over a month). During that time, I received an email letting me know that I was next in line to receive a copy of Townsfolk Tussle. Unfortunately, I had so many other things on my mind that I ignored it. Now that I’m better, I’d like to see if I find it again.
Nice video. You gave me some good advice for games I do not own. Some advice for you: - "Cloudspire", is my favourite game. - "Assassin's Creed Brotherhood of Venice". It is a cooperative stealth campaign game. Really nice. - "Frostpunk", which is a Euro cooperative scenario-based game. few more campaign games... "Cthulhu Death May Die", "Gloomhaven, Jaws of the Lions", "Sword and Sorcery", few more card games..."Imperium Legends", "Sentinels of the Multiverse: Definitive Edition"..Ciao!!!
Cloudspire and Cthulhu DMD are both on my “To Buy” list. I didn’t get Assassins Creed because I didn’t know if it was good but now I’ll look into it. The only thing keeping me away from Sentinels of the Multiverse is the fear of wanting it all (like what happened to me with Marvel Champions). I tend to have a “Want-All-Expansions” problem when playing a game I like. Thanks for the recommendations! I really appreciate that you shared some games with me, too. I’ve mentioned this before on the channel but I actually take into consideration the recommendations that I receive. Thanks again!
Jonathan! Nice to see you! Ascension Tactics is a good one! Just in case you have a hard time finding it, there is a stand-alone expansion that should be releasing some time this year. It’s called Ascension Tactics: Inferno. It was nice to see you around! Take care.
@@jonathanfryer1319 It was tough limiting the list to only 20-ish games. There were many games that could’ve easily made it on this list and I still would’ve been proud of the list. I’ll let you in on a little side-story that happened while making this video. Every video I make takes weeks and sometimes a month to create (Learning how to play, playing, capturing footage, editing, etc..). This list was supposed to be my 100th video for the channel. After putting over a week’s worth of time actually creating this video (I work on videos at night during my free time), my PC started giving me problems and I almost lost EVERYTHING! I mean, EVERYTHING! Not only the footage for this video but every video and photo that I had for the channel (Thankfully, the cloud saved most of it). At the end, I decided to finish the video and release it as soon as possible, just in case my PC decides to visit digital heaven. I guess all this to say, yeah, this list was tough to make for more than a few reasons! 😂 I know you didn’t expect such a long response but sometimes I just can’t help myself.
@SoloBoardGamingKnight Oh no! That's scary. I've just bought an external hard drive because I think my laptop is about to give up on me. 100th! Congratulations. That's amazing. And everyone appreciates the time you put in. If I could, I'd buy a big cake and put 100 candles in it. And sing... 'Happy review videos from you Happy review videos from you Thanks for entertaining and informingggggg Happy gaming to you'
Oh, I love Mage Knight but it didn’t make it on the list because I haven’t played it in a little while. The last time I played it, I played 3 games back-to-back! Over 9 hours worth of gameplay in just one day. I need to play it again just not as heavily as the last time.
Zombicide is such a good game. And theres so many differences genres of it. Aliens in space, midevil, wildwest, marvel. Take your pick im sure youll have fun. It does well solo and does great a group. Also is you like painting minis or using minis then you are set! I own black plague with both expansions. Played solo and with family. Painted half the minis and its been amazing. Only thing with the zombicide games is i would buy a storage for all its components. Other then that amazing game!
@@ITookYourBic I agree. Once I received the stretch goals and expansion, the amount of variety in Heroes, Zombie Heroes and missions really elevated MZ and it quickly became one of my favorite board games. My son and I played several days this past summer until late in the night and we had an absolute blast! My son enjoyed MZ so much that he actually got into the hobby with me and ended up playing several other games, as well.
Great video! It's obvious you put in A LOT of work into your content, it is very much appreciated! I've a question, what solo mode do you use for Marvel Legendary? It's one of the first boardgames I purchased when I started in the hobby, but I only played it a couple times before getting hooked on Aeon's End for deck building. I'd like to go back and give it another shot. Thanks!
Thanks! I sometimes play solo with the solo rules included with Dark City and other times I play two-handed. Both modes are great. Now, Aeon’s end is great, too! I didn’t buy the most recent legacy game but I have everything that has come out before that. Aeon’s End is a phenomenal deck builder and it almost made the list. I have a special storage solution for it to make it easier and quicker to get to the table.
@@SoloBoardGamingKnight Thanks for the reply, I actually have the Dark City expansion but didn’t realize it included solo rules. Will have to give them a try! And, glad you’re also a fan of Aeon’s End! 👍🏼
Thanks for mentioning Tales of The Red Dragon Inn! I just late-backed the Kickstarter. Are there any expansions for the game? How's the replayability? Still purchasing but curious on your thoughts.
@@ChinDogToshi There have been no expansions announced for it, that I know of. As far as replayability goes, each character has their own set of abilities that make them feel and play in a unique way. There are also unlocks that you can obtain giving you even more options to choose from when it comes to abilities which allow you to mix things up even further. When it comes to the story, once you know what happens, you’ll know what to expect the second time around but the gameplay is fun. The way enemies activate ensures that the scenarios won’t play out exactly the same way. That’s also due to the initiative, as well. Overall, I think you’re in for a treat! Enjoy!
Tmnt and Batman for the win 👍 was pumped for that. Dice throne looks great, i hope the new Marvel version on kickstarter should be awesome solo. Too bad i never got into Marvel Legendary, it looks great but i could only go all in for one amd Marvel Champions hit that marvel itch. I would wanna play it one day.
I agree with everything you wrote here! X-Men Dice Throne has me excited and I can’t wait to play it! Always good to see Batman and TMNT fans! Eventually, I stopped buying expansions for Legendary Marvel not because I don’t like it but because my collection of that and Marvel Champions is getting out-of-hand. Too much is out for it but I’m more than happy with what has released. They both feel different enough from one another. It was fun reading your comment!
G.I. Joes Deckbuilder deserves all the love it gets (yes, the rulebook wasnt' the best). The expansions are kind of new seasons of the show since you don't really just incorporate it all into the base game.
It’s got some of my favorite expansions of all my games. You can mix the some of the expansions into the core but it’s a hassle and better played the way you described it. It also makes for a quicker setup and teardown, if you don’t mix anything together. It also makes sense if you think about it episodically.
One of my favorite solo games is The Witcher Old World and today, playing my Kickstarter version for the first time with the "On the Trail of Monsters" expansion, the combat changes from trivial to unpredictable and more demanding. In the last fight, keeping the last 4 cards in my hand and making combinations with exactly 6 damage left to the monster... the overwhelming impression and satisfaction of winning 🤗. I can't believe why this add-on is not included in the standard, retail version (?)... how much this game can lose without it 😱!
Although I haven’t played The Witcher board game (I have played the video games 1-3), I understand what you mean about necessary content relegated to expansions. Expansions like that can really do a lot to increase the enjoyment of many board games. Not having them can make you feel as if you are missing out on the full experience.
I could recommend it to anyone who played The Witcher without this expansion and replaced 4 cards, even by inserting a piece of paper with a note into the sleeve with these cards. Then wrote down the effects of each monster somewhere in the notebook relating to those cards and saw the difference. There are still weaknesses for each monster, but this would be a bit more troublesome. From the first time I played it, it was one of my favorite board game, even more so now with the expansion
Thank you for an upload. It’s really fantastic list. One question: is there in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: City Fall random player order implemented as in Batman? Cheers.
Thanks! I appreciate that you enjoyed the video! Yes, there is an initiative deck just like Batman. It really is a reskin of the same game almost. The biggest difference being the character abilities and scenarios. Hope this helps!
The expansions add a few of the bosses that were not included in the core box. I bought the expansion with Neptune and Plant 42 because I wanted to fight those bosses. The core box does have a lot of content, though. It has more than enough content to make it worth the price of admission. If you’re like me, however, and you want all of the bosses, you do have to buy the expansions.
I bought both the playmat and the upgraded tokens on the publishers website Renegade. Here’s the link to their website: renegadegamestudios.com/search.php?search_query=Warp’s%20edge I think out of both of those, the upgraded tokens are the most important and useful because they really help with the actual gameplay. The playmat is just a nice bonus to have.
@@SoloBoardGamingKnight Forgot to say thanks for the info. Never even crossed my mind to look up if they had a web store themself, nearly spent a lot more on etsy. Got them delivered a few weeks ago.
What i like about the other expansion decks is that they play very different from each other but still using the core 20 core mechanics. Waiting for the tanglewoods deck and see how it plays
I actually asked myself the same question before I started playing Oathsworn. I took about two hours looking over all of the available heroes and went over both their cards (full character) and their companion cards. I ended up playing with 4 full characters. Despite what I had heard others say, it wasn’t difficult to control 4 full characters at a time. The thing that you have to consider most is how much play space you have on the table. I used two small tables on the side. One to place the boss cards and the other to place a full character. If it wasn’t for those two small tables, I would’ve played 2 full and 2 companions. Hope this helps!
I bought the GI Joe Deckbuilding Game after not liking the Transformers one, and after seeing your review. I was not a GI Joe fan at the time but I fell in love with the game and eventually have all the expansions.
Transformers DBG let me down, too. I really wanted to love it but it was a pretty huge miss for me. G.I. Joe DBG is WAY better! That rulebook almost soured the game for me but the gameplay and expansions more than made up for that.
@@SoloBoardGamingKnight I've got about 30 plays logged in now for the game. Buying up GI JOE toys and I'm even cosplaying as Major Bludd for a convention this weekend. Im converted.
@@DarthP00P00 Nice! I grew up in the 80’s when the G.I. Joe craze was at its peak. It was nice to be able to add a game to my collection based on G.I. Joe that managed to capture the feel of the cartoons from back in the day! It’s awesome to see the series live on with people like you bringing the characters to life via cosplay!
I used to like Marvel a lot more growing up. Not so much anymore but the games shown here were here mostly due to the gameplay rather than the theme. They just managed to be fun games!

LOL you don’t know how much of a timestamp fanatic he is hahaha you must have posted that comment not too long after he first uploaded. I am always stunned by the detail he puts into timestamps especially for his livestreams!
The only thing holding me back is that I already fell in the LCG hole called Marvel Champions. I’m afraid of loving Arkham Horror and falling into another LCG craze. Everything I’ve seen and read about it is great. I know I would love it and that scares me.
@@SoloBoardGamingKnight Just want to chime in that AHLCG is freaking GREAT. I own the Marvel Champions core, but haven't played it, so I can't make a comparison. But, I can tell you that it is indeed a hole you'd probably fall into. Having said that, now that they're releasing full campaign expansions as opposed to individual Mythos Packs, it is definitely the time to dive in. Just saying. 😄
@@joxer96 I’m pretty confident that I will agree with you and that scares me. Knowing me, eventually I’m going to take the dive and end up with a bunch of expansions for the game. Everyone speaks so highly of the game and I have a very strong feeling that they’re all right.
@@SoloBoardGamingKnight Yeah…it’s a scary prospect for sure. But man, do I love that LCG. It’s my number one game. It helps that I’m a big Lovecraft fan, some people just can’t get into the theme. Be sure to let us know if you ever take the plunge. Hopefully you won’t be disappointed.
It’s funny, I just responded to another comment letting them know that there is a stand-alone expansion releasing for it. I can’t wait for Inferno, either!
@@tiredguy2753 Unfortunately, the earliest it will release will be this fall, if everything goes well. There were some production issues. The wait continues a little bit longer.
Interesting oathsworn is so high. I felt the combat was good but the itemization system was completely pointless. You’re just force fed upgrades. There’s no sense of earning them or tactical decision making based on what you find. You just get stuff. And it’s so much overhead to cycle through all the items for the current mission etc etc etc. I’d rather they just take out the system entirely and leave each fight at the same power level since that’s all they are doing anyway. Auto pushing heroes up to the next power level to handle the next enemy is just an illusion of power gain.
@@BeatRag28 I can understand your point of view. Personally, I very much enjoyed the way abilities were used. Much like in RPG’s, some abilities are powerfully but usually under some kind of cool-down period. That’s where the tactic, for me, shines brightly. It avoids the player from spamming powerful abilities and forces the player to use caution on when to use and anticipating when it will be available once again. The upgrade system is very similar to other games in which you’re given some options and move on. With all that written, I can see how it’s not for everyone. I had Oathsworn on my table for months and enjoyed pretty much every moment. I did take my time and didn’t play every day but when I did, it was very fun. Using cards to force other cards to move became one of my favorite tactics throughout my playthrough. It had an ebb and flow feel to the combat.
@@BeatRag28 also, I wanted to add since we have the option to play each scenario individually, I see why the upgrade system works the way it does. It’s a give and take that may lessen one part of the upgrading system while simultaneously allowing us to repeat battles without starting over.
@@Alex-hc1ls One thing about me is that I enjoy a whole bunch of different games/genres. Although I haven’t played Frostpunk, I’m pretty sure if I had the chance to play it, I’d love it from what I’ve seen.
The oniverse games are fun, but they're miles away from the depth offered in any of the games on this list, to be frank. It's like comparing Solitaire to Bridge 😂 Only my opinion, of course.
Alas, I found that approximately 1 minute per game in describing the game was far too shallow. There is not enough content to warrant making actual purchasing decisions.
Good thing that there’s a review on the channel for almost every game shown here 😉. If not, the video would be too long and long videos, going by my experience, tend to not be watched.
@@SoloBoardGamingKnight, true, long videos are not as popular. But I don’t recall any mentions that there were full reviews of the games also available. A mention every 3-4 games would have been useful. Why are there no links to the reviews in the description?

Once again, thank you all for all of the support! This channel exists because of the love we all have for board games. There were some games that shifted on this list and many that made an appearance for the first time.
I hope you enjoyed this list! Take care, Solo Knights
Sincerely,
Solo Board Gaming Knight
I was super happy that you included SW Outer Rim, Resident Evil, and Marvel Legendary--they excel as solo games. Outer Rim has one of the best AI mechanics of any game I've ever played. Exciting list!
@@chrisw942 They deserve to be on the list for the exact same reason you mentioned. Thanks again for your support, Chris! I appreciate it!
Amazing video.. I actually took a knee and bowed my head as the knights of the round table were finally revealed.
😂 You actually made me laugh! Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
my dude, you're going places... keep up the good work 👏
Thank you! It means a lot to me and I appreciate your comment!
Dude… talk about perfect timing! I’m looking for lots of solo board games/card games I can play to myself in peace and then this video popped up! Absolutely fantastic. Thank you! Great work too!
Thank you! You are welcome and I hope you found a great game or two to play! I appreciate your comment and thank you for watching the video!
However, for true solo only games, these are the games you’re looking for:
Final Girl
Warp’s Edge
Wreckland Run
Tamashii has a True Solo Mode
Resident Evil has a True Solo Mode
Legendary: Marvel has a True Solo Mode
G.I. Joe DBG has a True Solo Mode but I prefer playing that two-handed.
Marvel Champions
Too Many Bones has a True Solo Mode but I prefer playing two-handed
Hoplomachus Victorum (huge time commitment required)
I hope this helped!
Oh, four more:
Lost Ruins of Arnak
Mage Knight
Lord of the Rings LCG
Friday
Those are the games off the top of my head.
@@SoloBoardGamingKnight You absolute legend! Thank you so much! Many thanks from here in the UK.
A bunch of new games to try! Thanks for your hard work! You're easily the best board game youtuber
@@Allthesmallteas Thank you and you’re welcome! I appreciate your comment and I’m glad you’re enjoying the channel!
Wow! So cool to see a list with tons of games I’ve never played. Thanks for the heads up!
I’m really glad you enjoyed the list of games!
This is definitely the most unusual top solo game I've ever seen
Such a cool cool video👍🚀❗Thank you so much for this enthusiastic, inspiring and cinematic production❗
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed the video! It makes the work and effort I put into making it feel worth it!
Tamashii is sick... I was sceptical , now I'm already after 6 solo scenarios, and I also played 4 of them with my wife. Shocking goood
Yeah, it shocked me, too. I knew I was going to like it but it surpassed any expectations I had. It’s a great all-around game and one that actually plays as good as it looks. The expansions are really good, too.
Love it! “Knights of the Round Table”. It makes sense.
Thanks! I’ve been wanting to create some sort of award title for the games that go above and beyond. The name made sense to me, too!
Glad to see you back after a few months!
Hey Solo! Hope you’re doing well! Your videos always cheer me up! 💕 what a great list! Definitely put a couple of games on my radar! Thanks!!
It’s always nice to hear from you, Paper Smith! I’m glad you liked the video and found a few new games to add to your list! Your comment cheered me up! We’re even now 🙂
Such an amazing video !!!😊… love the end!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you! I’ve been wanting to create a title or award for the board games that go above and beyond. I’m glad you enjoyed it!
That arthurian twist at the end was awsome!
I’m glad you liked it!
I am so happy that you mentioned adventure tactics and I fully agree that it is the BEST levelling system. Thanks
You’re welcome! I appreciate that you stopped by the channel and enjoyed the video!
You are a gem. Thanks for doing this. Debating final girl, but I do have hostage negotiator already. Rough call.
Great list, well done.

Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed the list!
I can’t wait for Season 3 of Final Girl. I am going to challenge myself to play all my boxes each day this October!
SAME HERE! I can’t wait for it to arrive. We already know it’s going to be great! Such a great series!
Nice list! I'm just about to sleeve my copy of Legendary Encounters: Alien this afternoon.
Hahaha
@@soloflo Ha! Nice reference! Hopefully one day I will find it again.
Knights of the round table was dooooope! Had rewatch that oart it was so cool!
I’m glad you liked it! From know on, any game that goes above and beyond will be inducted into the Knights of the Round Table.
Somewhere on Endor the sound of Ewoks celebrating resounds--they're applauding your top 20--especially Star Wars Clone Wars and Star Wars Outer Rim!! Can you hear their flutes playing, SBK? I loved your comment, Chris! It brought a huge smile to my face. Thank you! I really enjoyed your kind words and I’m truly happy that you enjoyed it! I heard the flutes!
May the force be with you, as well!
I appreciate that you mention when a rulebook is difficult, incomplete, or wrong, but the game is worth trying anyway. 👍
These are all great games but some require much more time commitment than others. Either way, they are all great games!
@@SoloBoardGamingKnight have fun with the Akihabara Web scenario! It's bringing more story into the game.

I really need to get Oathsworn, but I just opened Primal: the Awakening today!
I was looking at a playthrough of Primal just the other day. It looks promising. I have a feeling you’re going to enjoy it!
Nice video. You gave me some good advice for games I do not own.
Some advice for you:
- "Cloudspire", is my favourite game.
I know it will never happen. But I would love to see a Warps Edge “Robotech” edition. Great vid sir Knight.
We can still dream. That would be a perfect theme for a game like this!
wow i had no idea there was a Turtles game. And those minis look great!
They do look great! Nice to see you again! Take care.
Ascension Tactics - time to research that one.
Great video. 🙂
Jonathan! Nice to see you! Ascension Tactics is a good one! Just in case you have a hard time finding it, there is a stand-alone expansion that should be releasing some time this year. It’s called Ascension Tactics: Inferno.
It was nice to see you around! Take care.
I will definitely be searching them out.
How did you decided on a top 20?
So difficult!
And sing...

You didn't even MENTION a game that should've been a Knight of your Round Table - a Mage Knight, that is.
Oh, I love Mage Knight but it didn’t make it on the list because I haven’t played it in a little while. The last time I played it, I played 3 games back-to-back! Over 9 hours worth of gameplay in just one day. I need to play it again just not as heavily as the last time.
Mage knight might got supplanted by euthia.
@@BLDTHEGAMER That just piqued my interest.

@SoloBoardGamingKnight that's amazing! Hoping I can get my son into Zombicide once he's older!

Nicely done
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed the video!
We're honored to see Roll Player Adventures make your most noble list! ⚔
Thank you! It definitely deserves to be on the list!
God I wish there was a French version of this game ! I love Roll Player !
Enjoy!
In 'Tales from the Red Dragon Inn' you can see that, visually, Zot the Wizard is based very heavily on Merlin from the 1981 movie 'Excalibur' 😜
@@RichardJRussell I agree! That very same thought went through my mind. This entire game is a callback to the 80’s in its look.
@@SoloBoardGamingKnight haha what a hobby!
At 0:18 you briefly show a game with acrylic standees on a spiral bound book terrain. Would you please tell me what game this is?
Sure! The name of that board game is Kinfire Chronicles: Night’s Fire.
Hey man. Great video. Im wondering where you found all the different sized card protectors?
I use Gamegenics. For the most part that’s all I use because they look good on camera and there is no shine or reflection on the cards.
@@wieslawgawron3838 I’m really glad you find so much enjoyment out of that game. I know what that feels like and it’s nice when it happens.
Great video thanks 🙏
You’re welcome!
Since I noticed you play VR, Demeo is a pretty neat virtual board game.
@@SoloBoardGamingKnight oh yes played the hell out of that with some friends! Great game, they have a 2D flat version as well now
Thank you for an upload.
We have a lot of the same tast: marvel zombies, adventure tactics, tales from red dragon inn, marvel legendary..❤😊
That’s actually pretty cool! Those games are seriously some of my favorite board games!
This video is EPIC. Now, which one do i buy first!?
@@rickysad Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed it and have fun deciding which game to buy!
Watching the list thinking, “These are great games, but where are the Chip Theory Games titles?” Then the round table… right where they belong.
Exactly where they belong! I enjoyed reading your comment!
For Solo Knight these CTG are automatically entered into his top lists LOL I have HV and Bones
Is Resident evil worth even with just the retail? I read that some very important components were placed in the stretch goals.
Where did you get the playmat for Warp's edge?
Also did you upgrade the tokens or get those somewhere else as well?
I bought both the playmat and the upgraded tokens on the publishers website Renegade. Here’s the link to their website: renegadegamestudios.com/search.php?search_query=Warp’s%20edge
I think out of both of those, the upgraded tokens are the most important and useful because they really help with the actual gameplay. The playmat is just a nice bonus to have.
@@SoloBoardGamingKnight Forgot to say thanks for the info. Never even crossed my mind to look up if they had a web store themself, nearly spent a lot more on etsy. Got them delivered a few weeks ago.
@@ashleyhawkins9619 You’re welcome! Although I like Etsy, some things can be pretty expensive there.
Have you tried 20 strong ? It's pretty good but very swingy and its a very hard game
I’ve been wanting to play it but I haven’t yet. I actually want to get it with the Tanglewood expansion that’s releasing.
What i like about the other expansion decks is that they play very different from each other but still using the core 20 core mechanics. Waiting for the tanglewoods deck and see how it plays
Wanna ask you your opinion about darkest night, dungeon alliance, hellboy, euthia and hexplore it.
Unfortunately, I haven’t played any of those board games.
@SoloBoardGamingKnight I hope you do, so we can re-explore this list.
@@BLDTHEGAMER Something tells me you’re right. The dungeon crawlers you mentioned are definitely the type of games I enjoy.
hi !!
have you ever played iron helm ? what do you think about it ??
I haven’t but I’ll look into it. From the quick look I gave it, it seems to be something I’d like to try for myself.
What do you think is best player-companion number for solo oathswarn?
Great pacing. Good list - though too many Marvel picks. Seems like theme might have swayed your choices a little.
I used to like Marvel a lot more growing up. Not so much anymore but the games shown here were here mostly due to the gameplay rather than the theme. They just managed to be fun games!
Timestamp please
Timestamps are found in the pinned comment. Usually, timestamps are automatically added to the description box in a day or so after the video has been released. If not, I can add them manually, later.
@@SoloBoardGamingKnight Thanks!
LOL you don’t know how much of a timestamp fanatic he is hahaha you must have posted that comment not too long after he first uploaded. I am always stunned by the detail he puts into timestamps especially for his livestreams!
You seem to enjoy rolling dice.
I prefer a nice mix between cards and dice. Dice are fun, if there’s enough dice manipulation via cards or abilities.
you need to try arkham horror the card game bro!
@@joxer96 I’ll definitely keep you posted
Still waiting on ascension tactics inferno…
It’s funny, I just responded to another comment letting them know that there is a stand-alone expansion releasing for it. I can’t wait for Inferno, either!
@@SoloBoardGamingKnight Yeah I keep checking online and I have yet to find a solid/actual release date. I am hoping this summer...
Looks like not your cup of tea, but one of the best solo game is Frostpunk.
@@Alex-hc1ls One thing about me is that I enjoy a whole bunch of different games/genres. Although I haven’t played Frostpunk, I’m pretty sure if I had the chance to play it, I’d love it from what I’ve seen.
15 of them are the same game lol
No bullet ❤again? No marvel champions?
Not even a single oniverse game again?
Glad to see warps edge at least
The oniverse games are fun, but they're miles away from the depth offered in any of the games on this list, to be frank. It's like comparing Solitaire to Bridge 😂
Only my opinion, of course.
I did mention Bullet Heart and Star in the video and the end absolutely included Marvel Champions.
