I thought I was done with anything dungeon crawl related - but this looks really good and like the weight / story. Darn you Mike for finding so many gems! 💎
Sorry! If it makes you feel better, it's definitely more focused on discovery and adventure than combat, compared to the average crawler. Some scenarios are fully focused on combat or killing a boss, though :)
Commented on your 5 in 5 video, but after watching this too, I immediately pre-ordered it on their site! They still had some availability left for pre-order. Looks like I watched these just in time, no need to wait for a reprint :) Thanks so much Mike!
Thanks for sharing. You're awesome at play throughs. I was fortunate to back Agemonia (mainly due to your recommendation 2 years ago) and have my copy. Yippee! I've played the first 3 scenarios, missed some rules, but made it through. I'm now ready to visit the city and go on my first official scenario, so this video is being received at the perfect time! Oh yeah, I'm enjoying Agemonia A LOT and am glad I backed the KS. I don't have the enemy minis, but standees are okay. I almost played the wizard, but decided on the paladin and rock creature.
Thank you so much Mike! This looks so refreshingly different. Really enjoyed the short bit of story telling and am glad it will get here soon too (hopefully) :D Have a great day/week and happy explorations ^^
Hadn't heard about Agemonia until you mentioned it as your most anticipated game of 2024 Mike, pre-ordered it right away 😀! Now waiting to be shipped end of Feb (not as long as you would have waited, but still)! Looks incredible, will be fun to play with the fam!
For the two player I did hydromancer and aox hunter. Might not be wise to have 2 ranged characters, but I like to play dangerously :) In my coop group we also have the 4 armed archer. I'm a melee tank in that one.
This reminds me a LOT of Malhya, although I have to say I’m looking forward to Malhya more! Both are party-based adventure games with equal focus on adventuring/exploration and combat scenarios, clever and unusual gameplay systems with quite a bit of complexity, choose-your-own-adventure story sections, original and non-Tolkienesque fantasy worlds (even the art styles are similar)… the list goes on! Very interesting that these will come out so close together, wonder which one will become more popular. Malhya did around double the amount on KS, although that doesn’t necessarily mean anything in the long run. I’ll put my chips on Malhya and might consider Agemonia after I finish it :)
I’m trying to remember what the people on our discord who played the demo of that one said… I didn’t get to play it myself, I think they found it good, but maybe with too many systems and trying to do too many things? Not sure I’ll ever play it, but my money is definitely on agemonia over that one from what I’ve heard so far
Just about to start my playthrough and very excited! Do you think anything is missed by playing two versus three characters solo? Advantages or disadvantages of each?
How do you compare Agemonia and Rove? Mechanics are different (deck builder vs. abilities). But in terms of playing solo or 2 player count would you recommend one over the other?
Hm… they are VASTLY different games, is the thing. Rove is fully combat focused. It is basically a skirmish game, highlighting tactical movement and clever ability combos. Agemonia is an exploration and narrative game. Yes it has combat, but the main focus is the story and flipping over the cards and seeing what surprises wait around every corner. So I can’t recommend one or the other. Which do you prefer? Cool combat or cool story and exploration?
@@OneStopCoopShop Thank you, this is helpful. It seems that they lean heavily in one direction. I think that between King of Ruin and the Hexplore campaign books I am fully campaigned for a while. Rove might be a better option.
What would you say the game time is to play with 3 or 4 players for one session? I love adventure/exploration for solo, and I have a game group that likes these games, too. But our weekly game night often doesn't allow time for games that are 2-3 hours long. Would this be something that could be done in less than 2 hours for a session?
Most of my plays have been 3 player, and we finish most scenarios in about 60 minutes. The scenario cards tell you whether it’s short, medium, or long, so you know ahead of time a general idea of how long it’ll take
It's available for preorder on their website! Ships at the end of the month. I hadn't even heard of it before this video and picked it up almost immediately
I understand why you are showing only tutorial scenarios, but I would rather see later ones - when characters are leveled up, there's maybe more mechanics, and the game can be more complex overall. I think that would give a better overview of the game as a whole, not only its early stages and basic mechanics. Nevertheless, great video, as always!
This isn’t a tutorial scenario. This is one of the first full scenarios once the game “opens up”. So it’s missing a few things, like classes and professions, but this is pretty much the full game experience
Yeah you get 4 level ups after this (5 is max level) where you gain 4 more ability slots and gain 8 abilities (4 for the character and 4 for the class) to choose from for those. I'm only at level 2 so far, but looks like level 3 abilities are all passive and level 4 abilities all require a rare resource so that adds some mechanics. But I think you get most of the idea by level 1. Note that compared to a lot of games of this type, a lot of the gameplay is built in to the scenarios rather than the characters.
Story/city stuff looks really fun. Exploring scenarios looks fun. Combat looks really light/boring which unfortunately means I'm liable to skip this. Appreciate the video however!
Combat is definitely not the focus here. I love the exploration and adventure, but yeah if you want a traditional dungeon crawler or a boss battler I think you’ll be let down

Thank you so much for this great playthrough! ❤️🍄
Thanks for watching!
I'm loving this game! I just finished the 3 tutorial missions, and I can't wait to dive into the real campaign.
It opens up a lot, and is a ton of fun

Hope you have a blast. My eldest kid picked “the rock guy” for his character 😅😜
@@OneStopCoopShop sounds like a strong choice 💪:)!
Thanks for the playthrough!! Now you've just added one more game that I need to buy 😝 This game is exactly the kind of game I like :)
Then I guess I’ll say you’re welcome and sorry at the same time 😬
I just saw Agemonia unboxing of 2 kids with scissors .. i need something to calm my shuttered soul. Thanks Mike
The pain!!!!
Thanks for the play through. Just ordered.
Hope you enjoy it!
Oh funny! That's the exact two characters I picked. Just made it to level 2 (went Telepath and Blademaster), really loving this game.

I’ve played a bunch at both counts and both were good, so I’d say it’s your preference

Yes, if you don't mind it sticking out the front or back a bit. (I keep mine a few inches off the wall to swallow big games like this)
