I think Angela Merkel was also played by the Americans. I don't know but I think she said it just so Putin would not wasye time negotiating but rather finish everything on the battlefield. I think she cared enough about Germany more than Scholz and she was not happy with the destruction of Nordstream pipeline. I think she had a genuine friendship with Putin but with the westerners it's really hard to know when they are not lying.

Today, the exchange rate in Russia is 1 US dollars 69 rubles, but I will not be surprised if in the near future 1 dollar will be traded at the level of 75-80 or 90-100 rubles. Yes but she did want Vladamir to build the gas pipeline to supply Germany. Germany was ending all the Nuclear power stations in 2022 because of the enormous waste problem but they've made sure that's not going to happen.

To us, Putin had a choice.
To Putin, age 70, having gotten no where for 8 years of trying via diplomacy to settle an ever growing actual far right threat to a several million strong ethnic Russian minority on the boarders of Russia, armed and trained and funded by the west... he had exhausted all other options and had no choice.
Sat outside looking in, I do not agree with war. But if I were sat in his position, I would surely have felt I was being left with no other option between war or going to my grave with this growing situation unresolved...
Ukraine began a major offensive on Donbass on Feb 18. OSCE admitted it. Putin had no choice, without any caveats.

News of the atrocities committed on the non combatant civilians of Donetsk, etc can only be found in indie channels and outlets, which the vast majority of people in the west have been programmed to avoid or ignore.
The US and it's partners in crime; NATO, UN and EU, have turned a blind eye to any and all atrocities for decades, particularly those they themselves have and are still committing.
One more week would have resulted in more innocent civilians being slaughtered in cold blood by the Nazi regime.

How much do you think the $100 billion of military aid has contributed to a peace settlement? When the first response isn't to send diplomats (preferably the opposite of the Victoria Nuland kind) but to send lots of weapons and munitions, the other side may doubt your sincerity. IMO
Of course peace has been completely avoided by the US/NATO. They refused to follow the Minsk Agreements in 2015 and prevented Zelensky from having peace talks last spring. So sad that many people think escalating this war is helping the Ukrainian people.
