I love that you're preaching, George. The key here for me is knowing what your Idea is that you are a steward for. Once that is clear, the rest can follow and you can be of service in this true way you describe. That's a great test - whether I'm okay being embarrassed in public or am I still protecting my ego-image? To some degree, just being willing to stand up and speak spiritually is a willingness to be seen as a fool. So many business guides have you decide on your message, who are you helping with what service, what do you want to be known for, etc. Of all the ways I've heard that expressed, I'm most struck right now by "What is the idea you believe in so strongly that you're willing to be seen as a fool standing up for it? What idea is more important to you than your ego?" Not everything we do is thought of as an idea or a principle you believe in - or what Tad calls your point of view. Or what Jeffrey VanDyk might call your mission. But this is so clarifying to me right now, the way you have explained it.
