With Amazon buying MGM how do you see the future of the future of Physical Media, Watching TV Shows, Going To The Movies, etc..... Beside what would happen to James Bond and how would it go in the future.
-Would consumers/shoppers be forced to join a streaming service in order to buy or watch certain movies and TV show?
-A streaming service is telling us that the only way. If we decide not to be with that streaming service we can’t watch that movie or TV series anymore say like the 9th time or 22nd time.
-Could it be like they are in control how it should be for us.
-With TV shows made for streaming, it might never go to any networks syndication or physical media. Same with movies. Some TV shows and movies are just going to stay on streaming. For movies, ones that could be big name might not be put in theaters at all. IF people don't join the streaming service they just will never see it? Examples of movies and TV shows still not or may never be on physical media and shown on a network like ABC,CBS or NBC, even syndication,
    Bosch
    Greyhound
    The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
    Little Voice
    Snoopy in Space
    Lady And The Tramp
    The Mandalorian
    The Aeronauts
    Homecoming
    The Morning Show
-Would some or certain DVD, Blu-ray and 4ks can only be brought on Amazon. That we might not see it at Target, Best Buy, Barnes and Noble and Walmart. Even mom and pop music/video stores that sell new and use will not be able to order it in to sell at the full SRP. When we go go the mall or store, and suddenly say go look for this new movie or TV series.
-Well there less movie theaters, since Warner Bros started the in theaters and you can stream it with there HBOmax. Other studios are doing that. With the pandemic Disney was just trying find the right time to put in theaters. When they couldn't, they just put Mulan on streaming. As I heard it was $30 something just to watch that on streaming. Does it cost more or less to watch it on streaming vs. at the move theater.
-Hopefully a lot of people still care for big screens that still way way larger then 100 in. 4k TV and stuff like IMAX, etc… That NOT on any HD TV or streaming at all.
-There will be people out there that don’t want to pay for every streaming service that there is. Some people when they cut cable, they are going back to using an antenna, not moving over to streaming and using an antenna. How many out there can afford to pay for all the streaming services or even just Cable, but not will all the goods on their plan at all. Think of the low income, lower middle class and those that are disable and dependent, who are on Retirement, Survivors, Disability Insurance (RSDI).
-Will watching with an Antenna or Cable box, that some channels will NOT have no shows or anything in the middle of the night again. Even like the early years of TV again, where not much at all, all day. With what happening now. It be like a mix of the 50s and the 80s. Streaming is like the way to go.
-Three or four years ago, there was tech or media news. That Apple’s iTune can remove or delete any movies people buy there. That you don’t own, or it more how we see fit for you.
-I just hope NO STREAMING Service will be the one to start doing this at all. Even want to be the one to lead the way and get it happening. That would be sad and little sick. Hope Amazon buying MGM studio, will NOT be the one to lead the way.

Amazon will want to extract every bit of value from all parts of its MGM purchase. Given this, I think we will see an explosion in Bond merchandise, new 4K boxsets, maybe even an episodic series based on the Bond Universe. Of course all of this will be exclusive to Amazon. With respect to film, I would think Amazon will give EON a crack at another film with a mega-budget MGM could never afford. If it’s successful, expect more from EON. But if they stumble EON will be out in a hurry.

Excellent analysis - and I completely agree on every point.
I have read that Bezos is a big Bond fan so why in the world would he really want to change anything - except perhaps just to put out out MORE of it?
In some ways it’s kind of funny - what would happen if crazy James Bond fans like us could suddenly afford absolutely anything we want in the world?
…And suddenly the entire 007 series was up for sale!
Who among us WOULDN’T want to buy it ?? lol!
I love EON of course, but there is no doubt that they have been way too slow bringing out new movies and merchandise so if we suddenly will get much more of both - as you mentioned - I think that’s a pretty great thing!

Amazon indeed will want to squeeze out every penny out of the Bond franchise; they're a company after all. This will very likely lead to an influx of merchandise which I approve. On the other hand, Daniel Craig retiring from the 007 means the end of the 'modern age' of Bond movies. I'm a bit sceptical on what is to come it may be too experimental , commercial, blockbuster or mainstream.

Love the line about it would take a miracle to get 3 films in 9 years. I think, however, Amazon will put pressure on them to release movies quicker. I understand the thought about spinoffs but in my opinion none of the potential spinoffs would succeed. Amazon would be the likely buyer if they sell. At least, as Bill pointed out, the financial and other problems with MGM are over.

We'll know if they try to deepfake Connery and Moore into the new films. That may sound utterly asinine, but that kind of crap literally happened almost immediately after Disney bought Star Wars. Tech companies see entertainment as governed by Moore's law (no pun intended) and that paradigm has utterly stunted their aesthetic sense. I think it's obvious to many fans that there's a lot more going on in these films than "Bond James Bond" and "Shaken Not Stirred", but I worry that this represents the ever expanding epidemic of missing the point that seems to have taken over a lot of the entertainment space. That's just my thought.

In many respects, Barbara (Babs) Broccoli shares much in common with Rod Roddenberry, the creator of Star Trek.
Rod bequeathed the Star Trek mantle from his late father, but he admitted when he was younger he never really understood the appeal of Trek, being more into Star Wars.
    Babs is much the same.
She may have inherited this popular huge franchise front her father, but Babs is not Cubby.
Cubby wouldn't have gone away to do other side passion projects like Babs does, his focus was entirely on James Bond.
I don't get the instinct and assumption that Babs heart has fully been with the Bond franchise she inherited from her father, looking at it, as Joe mentioning in the discussion, it's been a way to pay the bills and help fund her little unseen art house projects for her.
What the Bond franchise needs is a Kevin Fiege type figure who's attention is 💯% focussed on Bond and Bond alone, no art house or theatre projects.
And with Michael G. Wilson on the verge of retirement at his age, it should be time to hand over the mantle to someone with a little more passion in their step.

I’d imagine they want a return. Unlike the DC era of nearly 20 years and only 5 films. I’m more than happy with that.

When will bond game night come back, i loved that, also Amazon brought MGM, I got to watch some MGM other spy and action films if that is the case, I have to look at its back catalog, and see but bond and shaft they have as well as pink panther, and they are able to remake alot of their movies, i think they have somethin in their hands, but the question is what is that somethin? I dont know why they should they have some movies like creed and other movies that did well.

Oh God, the last thing I'd want to see is the oversaturation of James Bond. Disney has absolutely destroyed Star Wars. I don't want to see that happen with Bond.

Jeff Bezos did not get where he is by making bad decisions.I just hope he will handle the franchise in not just lining his pockets but make it beneficial for fans. And I see a huge marketing technique through Amazon with Bond.Plus...by getting Bond merchandise marketed through your own company is a smart marketing move.I think he will try to get the financials worked out sooner than later so he can push NTTD merchandise. This will help USA buyers of merchandise also.

I personally think that after No Time To Die, Bond will morph from the James Bond franchise into the 007 franchise which I think No Time To Die eludes to. I hope I’m wrong.

I think you're giving the producers more credit for their ability to plan forward than they deserve. They can barely get a script finished these days. It will be rebooted again for a new actor just like it was for Dalton, Brosnan and Craig. If that fails they might look at other ideas. You're safe until the end of the decade at least.

The Star Wars movies churned out by the over-ambitious Disney are pure garbage. No one wants to see that happen to the 007 series.

HOWARD W. says > I`ve said this a 100 times. When the Bond Producers start a new film, why don`t they first ask the opinions of 4 or 5 serious Bond fans before they start filming. I mean, what Bond fan wants to see Bond yelling like Tarzan or in a gorilla costume. And don`t get me started on Moonraker.
