This song and the entire album are on continuous play. QUite simply the best thing I have heard in a long time, and I am absolutely obsessed with this song.
its Grizzly Bear's time. Insane level of love for this song. And i will say it also, Best Album Of 2012. Maybe the finest album I've listened to since OK Computer or Kid A.
I know! I saw them play live and Ed was playing an acoustic guitar on "Yet Again", but I don't think it was miked or plugged in because I couldn't hear it at all.
I referred to the stage lights in a previous post: God only knows what our boy Daniel was up to the night prior... "Holds it down" he does indeed, I fucking like that phrase. Cheers!
2:37 to 3:44 was in my dream.. I was at a friend's place before his cousin's huge wedding.. the funny thing was I never went to the house in real life, but in my dream it was a mansion with a garden. 2:37 totally matched the part of my dream when I looked out the balcony...
I wrote a song kind of related to this, sounds nothing like it, but it made me think and sing the lyrics the way i did, though mine's more moody and dark, though it marks the crux i think of this economic and spiritual depression we all are living under. soundcloud.....then search for quantum mystics song title "so many people", I listened to this song about a dozen times the night before I recorded it.
He's admitted to not being the Best Guitarist in The World. He plays some in the chorus here (3:23, 3:08, 1:29), Knife, Little Brother, and Yet Again. But he plays the shit out of the omnichord in "Ready Able" and the keyboard for "Cheerleader". Youjustgottaworkwithwhatyougot.
theyve always looked like that, I think they just take their music seriously, not to say that people cant smile if they do that, I just think they are in "the zone" when they perform
iceehi sorry, bro', just do not hear it, and I am more open than most idiots. other than a 100% generic drum-beat that if you think "Tears For Fears" thought of, wow, you have much to learn, grasshopper! but you are of course entitled to your opinion, so, justice prevails at last!!! Cheers!
iceehi OK, I hear ya' (literally & figuratively). Everyone hears what they want to hear, to some extent, anyway, so as long as you like it, that is all that counts, right? Cheers!
I found this picture of what some experts believe used Leonardo Da Vinci as a model when he was around his 20/30s, and he looks very similar to the singer. So hey, that's kind of cool haha I think so at least! X)
it just struck me! it is reminiscent of "Down By The Seaside", from fucking Zeppelin, "Physical Graffiti" 1975. That is it!!! Grizzly Bear rules!!! Paying homage to Led Zep!!! Whether they know it or not!! Cheers! FrankC36
I like this song in fact it sounds great, but the expressions on the faces seem to imply that something other than joy and excitement on the part of the players. Am I just reading into the expression too much? I wouldn't blame them if they were bummed out, the economy seems in tatters and the world tearing itself apart seems to imply the anxiety and tension implicated in the lyrics.
William Alvarado I recommend looking up some of their other live sets on here. This one isn't the best. check out their entire live Coachella set or their cemetery gates set. They are actually one of the best live bands. I saw them live 3 years ago and it was the best live performance I've yet to see.
The issue is that a lot of what makes Grizzly Bear so special are the very intricately layered instrumentals, incorporating entire orchestras or horn sections, sometimes even just for a moment or section in a song. Take the Saxophone part in this song (at about 1:42 in the actual song), that was not incorporated here. There's so much going on in a Grizzly Bear track that without tripling the amount of people on stage, (and further cutting into the pay of an already small, relatively unprofitable indie band), you just can't get that massive sound you find in the recording. That, and the mixing is pretty shit in this video. Like the last person said, I'd recommend watching that Coachella performance from 2013, it's definitely not the album versions, but it at least shows what they are capable of with their small outfit when the mixing/conditions are better.
Chris Bear has to be one of the most aggressive/sensitive drummers when needed since John Densmore in The Doors.
This version is a pure diamond that I rediscover tonight with emotion, now that I realize that the band is separated
the last part of the song is REALLY beautiful
Kept looking for an album version of this on UA-cam, as it turns out these guys are so good live you don't need it.
This song and the entire album are on continuous play. QUite simply the best thing I have heard in a long time, and I am absolutely obsessed with this song.
This is my favorite song from Shields.I LOVE IT :)
Grizzly Bear is amazing
its Grizzly Bear's time. Insane level of love for this song. And i will say it also, Best Album Of 2012. Maybe the finest album I've listened to since OK Computer or Kid A.
Grizzly Bear just blew my mind!

Lead vocals is definitely Ed. I dont have a source, but their voices are so distinct that you can tell its him.
thanks to Jools Holland I discovered this band......love their music.
excellent band, this song sounds like arcade fire !
Sweet song :)
electrifying.
I know! I saw them play live and Ed was playing an acoustic guitar on "Yet Again", but I don't think it was miked or plugged in because I couldn't hear it at all.
I feel this in the most of last shield's live, particularly with Ed...
Ed voice 💕🥰😍
that's a righteous tele, looks just like mine
I referred to the stage lights in a previous post: God only knows what our boy Daniel was up to the night prior...
"Holds it down" he does indeed, I fucking like that phrase.
Cheers!
best one since while you wait for the others
the last minute and a half of this song...
I am guessing those stage lights can get pretty hot!
Cheers!

Love that there is something here from "Everybody Wants To Rule The World" by Tears For Fears!
Great song love the performance does anyone know what color you’d call the singer’s shirt?
2:37 to 3:44 was in my dream.. I was at a friend's place before his cousin's huge wedding.. the funny thing was I never went to the house in real life, but in my dream it was a mansion with a garden. 2:37 totally matched the part of my dream when I looked out the balcony...
dude, I had the same exact experience.
This "Soundcheck in the Greene Space" site is pretty fucking tight!
Cheers!
FrankC32
They are from Brooklyn, New York.
Brilliant. Period. End of story.
Cheers!

Reminds me soooo much Of Instant Karma by John Lennon
I wrote a song kind of related to this, sounds nothing like it, but it made me think and sing the lyrics the way i did, though mine's more moody and dark, though it marks the crux i think of this economic and spiritual depression we all are living under. soundcloud.....then search for quantum mystics song title "so many people", I listened to this song about a dozen times the night before I recorded it.
Daniels killing it
How I wish the bass was a little louder, I know in the record it's not very strong neither, but Taylor throw in some nice lines.
top!
Does anyone know who sang the lead vocals for "The Hunt" and provide a source?? Daniel or Ed?
@skying4444 toca chingon, se escucha súper bien, muy padre la canción
This track kind of has a Dr. Dog flavor to it.
nomames esa bateriaa

Did you hear the new tame impala's album? it's just amazing.
Imcoming Slow Rush but Lonerism is my fav
Always, haha
The man definitely gives 100% onstage
theyve always looked like that, I think they just take their music seriously, not to say that people cant smile if they do that, I just think they are in "the zone" when they perform
Hahaha, Daniel looks so sweaty and exhausted
Grizzly Bear is from Boulder, CO... not NY
The godly nose is back!
Any idea on the Cymbals Chris uses?
istanbul 24" Agop signature ride and 22" Agop signature ride. he's also playing the 24" one cracked in this video
Tears for Fears?
idiot troll?
Cheers!
Nope, that's a good thing actually. And the song has elements from "Everybody Wants To Rule The World" by Tears For Fears.
Cheers!
iceehi sorry, bro', just do not hear it, and I am more open than most idiots. other than a 100% generic drum-beat that if you think "Tears For Fears" thought of, wow, you have much to learn, grasshopper!
but you are of course entitled to your opinion, so, justice prevails at last!!!

Not only the drums, how about the riff from 0:46-0:48?
iceehi OK, I hear ya' (literally & figuratively).
Everyone hears what they want to hear, to some extent, anyway, so as long as you like it, that is all that counts, right?

C Is For Cookies!

Hello from the future
why are they so sweaty? gosh green space, can't you turn on the AC?
you're going to dehydrate our friends.
it just struck me!
it is reminiscent of "Down By The Seaside", from fucking Zeppelin, "Physical Graffiti" 1975.
That is it!!!
Grizzly Bear rules!!! Paying homage to Led Zep!!!
Whether they know it or not!!
Cheers!
FrankC36
voice reminds ma a little bit of starsailors james walsh....
But yes, I agree.
as much as that could be true, they could just be seriously tired. touring can really take it out on people
Ed always looks so uncomfortable on guitar. But it doesn't matter, this is still brilliant!
i never see ed actually playing an instrument he just holds a guitar or that midi thing, just an observation
In Rainbows is as good as both those albums, if not better. Just sayin'.
Must be hot in there
This entire performance just seems so tired.
This song is so boring to me, I love the rest of their music though
grizzly bear is one of my favorite bands...but goodness they aren't all that great live lol
William Alvarado how very wrong you are..
I ain't saying they're terrible but I think the recordings sound tremendously better than they do live
William Alvarado I recommend looking up some of their other live sets on here. This one isn't the best. check out their entire live Coachella set or their cemetery gates set. great song, but he is one sweaty mofo!
A really awful and terrible song in every way. Delete all copies of every format. Stupid and useless.
