The installation in my 2023 ID.4 was anything but straightforward. Firstly, I had a huge battle just removing the lower plastic housing. Then I simply could not pull out the rain sensor plug. I had to take it to a professional car accessory installer who, even with all his specialized tools, had a hell of a job pulling out that plug, which necessitated removing not only the mirror, but also the module in front of it, plus the housing for the plug. I am happy to say the camera is now installed and looks and works great. Phew! I am amazed it took you only 10 minutes to install.
I have been tugging and pulling on that cable too - no joy - every video of this you see it shows the cable with a closing shot opening up with a cable in their hands fitting it to the new lead. Funny that...
Hi again. My first unit failed after 2 days. Wrote to supplier who very quickly sent from Amazon uk a replacement. Amazed ! Just fitted it today firstly removing the rear view mirror by rotating the metal base anti clockwise 45 deg. You were right so much easier to fit the small connector with it out of the way. New unit is working and linked to iPhone thanks for your Chanel marcus andover
Very interested in how you get on here. Tempted with both front and rear, but appreciate you only have front. Let us know how it works with connecting to your phone please!
Hi, I don’t have the rear camera so I’ve no idea about the wiring for that, sorry. I just followed the installation instructions that came with- it’s pretty straight forward as long as you can get the plug out. I had to remove the rear view mirror to make access a bit easier for me.
Looks really good. Only drawback I can think off is that you’ll not be able to disconnect it and take off easily when driving through countries where dashcams are banned or restricted. In Austria you can get 10000€ penalty (yes 10k €) for just having it. And that’s just if you get caught for the first time. Next time it’s 25.000€. I guess a simple USB port in the mirror cover would be perfectly enough. I think Skoda does sell that as an option. Not sure why Audi can’t.
It’s strange that Audi don’t offer one as an option- my 2020 Citroen C3 had one as standard! If you were driving somewhere that doesn’t allow dashcams you could pop this one off in 5 mins- it’s only two pieces of trim and one little plug to undo. Not ideal but not a huge hassle
The one for the rain sensor? I found it tricky too. I took the mirror off to let me get better access and eventually managed to wiggle it out. It took a surprising amount of force 🤔
I used two thin screwdrivers from both sides after struggling with that damn tiny plug for half an hour. Popped right out! Then struggled getting the new plug in!
@@ChewyDickens I used a flat head screw driver to fry the plug loose, but I realized only the plastic plug was detached from the wiring and the 3 wires were still firmly plugged in. Do you think I can use some force to pull the wire out? I was afraid to ruin the connection....
Hi, to be honest it’s so well integrated into the car I tend to forget it’s there until something stupid happens in front of me 😂 I’ve not got a lot of footage in the dark, but there are a good selection of videos from different lighting conditions on my TikTok if you want to have a look: www.tiktok.com/@edinreviews?_t=8fLhu5YNqvw&_r=1
Pretty straight forward. Took me 10 mins as I was trying to film at the same time😂 Trickiest part was getting to the top plug to pull it out as my fingers were too big. Both the trim pieces you need to take off come off easily 👍🏻
@@TonyGoff-Yu yeah the trim pops off fairly easily and there are no changes to any wiring. You are unplugging one connector which you can plug back in again 👍🏻
@@TonyGoff-Yu nothing so far. App nice and straight forward to use. Files take a wee while to download to my phone as each minute long file is 133mb, but it comes with a usb card reader so you can take the card out and download to a PC.
I have wireless Apple CarPlay which I use all the time. This has no impact on recording or anything. The only issue is that because I used the MMI system’s WiFi, and have it set to auto join and auto log in to that network when I get in the car, it sometimes disconnects my phone from the Fitcamx WiFi while I’m trying to download. The only way round this is to go into my phone settings and switch off auto-join and auto-connect for the MMI WiFi. Hope that makes sense?
@@edinreviews it does. And at that point the CarPlay would temporarily disconnect? In other words, no impact on recording just viewing and downloading while in the car and using wireless CarPlay
@@edinreviews no problem buddy. Cars getting delivered next week so not in a rush but like I say if going down this route is rather you get something out of it
I’m not sure if the plastic trim is the same in the Enyaq. This camera is labelled for the ID4 and Q4. If you go on the website in the description you can contact the company and they’ll be able to tell you 👍🏻

Had a quick shot after fitting and it connected well as long as I disconnected the WiFi link to the car👍🏻 Will do a video about that at some point 👍🏻
I installed this today, bit fiddly with the cables (I had a headlight auto error as I hadn't pushed it back in far enough) but works well!
Yeah the hardest part was the little plug 👍🏻

Looks like everyone having the same problem - All the videos show the plug before yanking then cut to fitting new one - Its a real issue
Hello, does your ID4 have a warning message after unplugging that wire and it says Automatic headlight malfunction?
Nothing came up on mine when I did it. Auto headlights and wipers worked as normal 🤔
Now you have been using a while whats your thoughts on the camera e.g. picture quality day and night etc. wound you still recommend? Thanks 😊
