    I worked for a company that had 120 of these laptop's , had to repair 8 all had the same problem, I am amazed you found it without the schematic or Sony's help ,great tech work ,my hat is off to you.

    I love seeing how he over comes problems like this. Other people you see on UA-cam will harvest components off other devices and not really explain what is happening so you don't learn anything. I know you describe it as dodgy fixes in your other videos but I'd call them genius fixes. Very clever guy, best repair guy on UA-cam.

    i always get amazed when Soren can find the problem when he doesn't even have a schematic to go by. He uses deductive reasoning to help narrow down the problem and is always successful. Amazing video.

    In last one week I patiently watched most of your video's.
    Genius may not describe you. You are far above than genius.
    The one thing I could learn from you is that that you must be perfect in your basics. That's it.
    Your video's are Hitchcock movie movies. I see Sherlock Homes in you. Hollywood / Bollywood thriller are nothing in front of your ability to find the exact fault and icing on the top is how you give a solution to problem. Hats off !!! Very warm regards from India.
    PS: Just a bit curious... want to see how you put things back as the way you scatter the removed screws all over the table, it would be very interesting to see. Hope in next video you can demonstrate that ability as well.

    It’s hilarious how many people give Sorin thumbs down for doing a real life repair. Just shows how old school and new generation is different. The new generation is affraid of smoke and us old fukers know when the smoke is out theirs no farting around now. It’s easier too fix.

    Hi Sir and many many thanks for sharing all this. if possible please I need an information.
    I blown a backlight fuse on a ThinkPad T460S replacing the screen and not removing the batt ...
    As a emergency repair I just short the blown fuse (sony genuine fuse :) ) but I want replace it.
    now I know that is next to impossible to find a identical fuse , but can I use a generic 3A SMD fuse instead?
    (I`m not in repairing computers but I work in automotive electronics)
    many many thanks again and all the best

    42:49 I'm always afraid to put too thin wire. How do I know - how much current that small wire can handle? How much amps backlight takes? Maybe it will be fine, or maybe that wire will be hot and will burn in few days?

    • @rm6857

      25volts and lcd will be less than 20w,so it like 1A. And it very short wire so it can be thin

    Hello, maybe Sorin or someone else had experience with asus n53 series motherboards? Symptoms are black screen, fan spinning, no error codes. All voltages are ok, tried all basics checking. I suppose it might be GPU, but before trying to reflow what else could be bad with these kind of symptoms? What are bad South/Northbridge symptoms?

    • @Radek__
      @Radek__ 5 років тому

      do you have gt 520 there? but even yes, that laptop should have two graphics. Intel HD + nvidia. if nvidia dies then laptop should come on normally because it starts always with Intel.
      and that Intel graphics is inside CPU and Cpu is in socket, so it can be easily replaced.
      You should start with this.
      other things to check
      different Ram
      reset bios settings by removing rtc battery and main battery.
      check rtc battery voltage (some laptop will not coming on with voltage below 2.8v)
      take out all other things from motherboard - USB cables, keyboard, touchpad, just leave motherboard and power button.
      then disconnect even the LCD cable with screen and connect hdmi / vga cable then start the board.
      then you should desolder bios chip and put it to programmer tool. Save original bios to disk and then Flash new bios dump from internet.
      If you have oscilloscope then you should check if chipset is taking instructions from bios chip.
      othervise you have to replace it.

    • @StepOn_LT
      @StepOn_LT 5 років тому

      @@Radek__ Thank you for response. I tried almost everything you said, just not the bios chip. I dont have oscilloscope or bios chip programmer tools. So computer does not even check nvidia gpu when it starts if it has Intel hd graphics? I thought maybe he tries to check gpu and then stucks at checking if its faulty

    • @Radek__
      @Radek__ 5 років тому

      it is possible -each motherboards and self test are different. But I saw and I have few laptops with dead dedicated graphics and they working fine on Intel and nvidia was gone /disappeared completely from devices menager in windows.
      but how your issue happened? how it started?
      did you clear bios settings?
      I had one laptop where in bios was an option to use two graphics or Intel only or nvidia only and nvidia was dead. this settings was set to nvidia only so motherboard wasn't come on (black screen)

    • @StepOn_LT
      @StepOn_LT 5 років тому

      @@Radek__ laptop was not mine until now so i dont know how it failed. I removed both batteries and left it long time, that should clear bios? Maybe i will try to short cmos battery pins to be for sure. What are the cases when computer is not repairable?

    • @Radek__
      @Radek__ 5 років тому

      yes I forgot to tell you. if the main battery and charger is not plug then you can take out rtc battery and short pins in socket.
      few second is enough.
      then be sure to have heatsink tided to Cpu and chipset and fan connected. some motherboards will not start without fan.
      the Cpu and chipset is getting warm? did you check with finger?
      very close to Cpu you should have two or three big coils. one (or two) for Cpu and next one for Intel hd inside Cpu. what voltages do you have on them during start? and also on the coil close to chipset and next one close to ram
