Depending if the coach is an idiot or not they feed them the ball every trip down and 2 point the other team to death because the other team will not hit every 3 and will play small ball meaning you'll have a 6'6 center trying to stop a 7 foot 1 350 pound monster trust me if there were a couple of big men out there who were capable of playing half as dominant as shaq the league would revert back to what it was because you'd have teams looking for bigs just to throw at these particular bigs
Yea dude, the reason why 3s and small ball game is working is cause of Steph, the day Steph retires these ORGs currently trying replicate a team like Stephs GSW will come to realize that they can’t win having 3 oriented offence with small players, it’s players like Giannis who’s going to dominate the league.
Im an old schooler nba fan from the 80's. Im a rockets fan also, people tend to forget though that the suns started the small ball while yao was playing and yao struggled with the fast pace, he would get tired by the first half. The suns dominated the rockets. Now the whole league is like that. Yao and shaq wouldnt have problems offensivly but they could not keep up with today's nba defensively. You got seven footers playing at the three point line, there is no post game anymore. Again the pace is too fast they would struggle keeping up. Now Hakeem would thrive into todays nba because of his freak quickness
Yes, what you said is correct. But you forgets why Yao struggled with the fast pace, it’s because of his weight. Why Yao gained so much weight? Because of the old style of basketball that you need to dominate in the paint against players like Shaq and Howard. Since you said you are old school rockets fan, remember how skinny and agile Yao was when he first entered the league? If he play and develop in today’s basketball environment, with his shooting ability, great vision and passing. What came in my mind is either Joker or Wemby type of player. And probably will have a longer career with lighter weight on his body.
This is why draymond would be completely useless in the 90s and the 2000s when there were true centers. He is a small ball big man and that simply doesnt work against guys with real size and skill at the center position.
Yao would have been a multiple mvp and probably top 10-15 player if not for China always forcing him to play in the Summer for their National Team. Yao needed that time to rest and rehab his gigantic body
Shaq would only be better, probably have more of a mid range and a little better at shooting but his strengths would force players to defend the paint better.
Yao’s prime was so short…. His feet just couldn’t sustain his massive weight. Houston fans would never forget the 2010 playoffs run. Yao is so underrated and kids barely know who he is now
He's been retired for over a decade dude get over it and stop watching old basketball stop watching old ppl talk about retired players lmao go make more money go get a bigger house a boat a plane etc stop wasting your time here taking about retired old players and stuff that will never ever ever happen.
Part of what shortened Yao's career was that he was never able to get any proper rest. He literally played year round due to obligations with the Chinese National team, who were and are super trash without him. I remember watching a game between China and New Zealand, Yao scored like 40+ of China's 80 some points, and when he checked out with like a minute left and China up 10, New Zealand immediately scored 8 straight off a full court press, so Yao had to check back in and sink some free throws to ice the game lmfao. Dude was a one man show internationally. Like Yi Jianlian or Wang Zizi might have been his second best teammate 😂😂😂
It wasn't the Olympic team, it was more or less all the little regional bullshit tournaments (like China, you gonna have to beat Singapore and Malaysia on your own someday) that he played in that added all the additional stress to his foot.
If they were playing today then no team would be running and gunning like they do now. How the heck are they gonna run if they can't get the ball, no one in today's game will be able to box them out of the paint plus probably half of the roster will foul out trying to keep them out of the paint
Which team does Whiteside, Drummond, Deandre Jordan and Boogie play for? They are either unsigned or deep in the bench. In today's game, if you are too slow to guard multiple positions in pick and roll's, or when you can't shoot it from deep or midranged, you aint playing. Plain and simple.
if Yao Ming didnt play basketball year round he wouldve had a longer NBA career. Chinese national team made him play in his offseasons when he shouldve been resting
Shaq would be just as dominant in todays game. I actually don't think he'd be all that MORE dominant though, despite the advantagea playing in thisberanwouldngive him. Shaq's work ethic regarding professional basketball is the only thing that ever really stopped him. He was lazy and didn't work hard enough on staying NBA ready. He's said it himself.
Exactly
Yea dude, the reason why 3s and small ball game is working is cause of Steph, the day Steph retires these ORGs currently trying replicate a team like Stephs GSW will come to realize that they can’t win having 3 oriented offence with small players, it’s players like Giannis who’s going to dominate the league.
No. It's analytics. All teams need to shoot to beat 2 pointers is make 33% from 3. And nowadays 33% is considered a subpar percentage for top teams.
Channing Frye and Jahidi White never overlapped in the NBA
Is there a link to the full episode?
Coming tomorri
Congrats on that contract my guy late but still a win make sure your agent is taking care of
St Mary's and Moon Valley 🤘🏿
This is why draymond would be completely useless in the 90s and the 2000s when there were true centers. He is a small ball big man and that simply doesnt work against guys with real size and skill at the center position.
Just overlooked Zboo
Yao would have been a multiple mvp and probably top 10-15 player if not for China always forcing him to play in the Summer for their National Team. Yao needed that time to rest and rehab his gigantic body
Woulda, coulda, shoulda.... At the end of the day, he was just another NBA player that failed to live up to the hype.
@@daveclark8337 he did lived up to the hype
@@miorionomichi Not in NBA.
@@daveclark8337 8x All Star , 5x All NBA , Number Retired by Houston how is that not lived up to the hype?
@@miorionomichi Always remember him choking when it mattered: The Playoffs
Shaq would only be better, probably have more of a mid range and a little better at shooting but his strengths would force players to defend the paint better.
i just hope zion will have a somewhat healthy career.. cant compare him to shaq, but zion is something i havent seen before either
Can someone explain why RJ sayin Yao Ming would get abused in pick and roll?
Yao ming is too slow to switch to the ballhandler so his perimeter defense sucks
Yao’s prime was so short…. His feet just couldn’t sustain his massive weight. Houston fans would never forget the 2010 playoffs run. Yao is so underrated and kids barely know who he is now
probably know his meme tho lol
He's been retired for over a decade dude get over it and stop watching old basketball stop watching old ppl talk about retired players lmao go make more money go get a bigger house a boat a plane etc stop wasting your time here taking about retired old players and stuff that will never ever ever happen.
@@superbuu122 lmaoo
@Lil Gleam OFFICIAL 2/5 people on this were “old”. You should learn some punctuation man, it was a chore reading whatever that was.
I named my cat Shaq after watching this, he's a fat cat who always got stuck on a tree.
Sad how 7 footers are so prone to injury, maybe if Yao didn’t commit to his Olympic team he could’ve lasted a lot longer
It wasn't the Olympic team, it was more or less all the little regional bullshit tournaments (like China, you gonna have to beat Singapore and Malaysia on your own someday) that he played in that added all the additional stress to his foot.
How would Yao Ming and Shaq look in the NBA today? They’d look very elderly, and probably would break a hip trying to run up and down the court.
I just realized duncan looks like ggg
Shaq was an edited 99 player in the career mode 4 real
You can put Wilt next to or above Shaq in power.
def above. Wilt was the strongest nba player period.
Yao was basically Porzingis before Porzingis, but 3 inches taller, with much better footwork.
I'd say like dirk.
If they were playing today then no team would be running and gunning like they do now. How the heck are they gonna run if they can't get the ball, no one in today's game will be able to box them out of the paint plus probably half of the roster will foul out trying to keep them out of the paint
Yao could shoot 3s well. He was a 3pt shooter before he went to the NBA
Yao would be averaging 30ppg ...he was a goid midrange and postup Player
Chet could maybe be a diet Yao Ming?
Good point
Lets put it this way if shaq wasnt lazy and had kobes work ethic, hes probably the greatest player ever.
Embiid vs Yao
Healthy Yao eats him for breakfast
Doubt it embodies will facem up
Yao would eat his lunch then send him to buy him some dessert.
They would make Rudy look like swish cheese
Which team does Whiteside, Drummond, Deandre Jordan and Boogie play for? They are either unsigned or deep in the bench. In today's game, if you are too slow to guard multiple positions in pick and roll's, or when you can't shoot it from deep or midranged, you aint playing. Plain and simple.
So what's boogies average before he got injured? Drummond ain't shaq power and strength
None of those guys were as overall talented on offense and defense as Shaq and Yao. Also, none of them had the same size as Shaq and Yao either…
What if I told you that Shaq shot 75% at the rim from 2pt which is more efficient than your best 3pt shooters getting wide open 3’s ?
I’d love to see Chet Homgren trying to guard Shaq.
So you hate Chet Holmgren’s guts is what you’re trying to tell us
if Yao Ming didnt play basketball year round he wouldve had a longer NBA career. Chinese national team made him play in his offseasons when he shouldve been resting
When did artest avg 25😂
Magali Knolls
Shaq would be just as dominant in todays game. I actually don't think he'd be all that MORE dominant though, despite the advantagea playing in thisberanwouldngive him.
Shaq's work ethic regarding professional basketball is the only thing that ever really stopped him. He was lazy and didn't work hard enough on staying NBA ready. He's said it himself.
That wouldn't have changed regardless of what era he played in.
It's just who he is.
Shaq has always been more than a basketball player. Basketball os just what he did. It doesn't define him.
That's what makes him so different than his peers and the many othr NBA greats.
Yao Ming is better than Rudy Gobert
Yao today would resemble Han Xu in the WNBA
If he returns to play without injuries then your words will become facts.
I’m from china, I don’t watch basketball ball a lot. I heard Yao Ming is good, but never thought he could be as good as Shaq. Btw why UA-cam push me this video.
You got a lot to learn then. He was way more skilled and was physically as dominant as Shaq midway through his career.
if durant didnt have all those injuries and if he was born 4 years earlier hed be ahead of LBJ in terms of career total points.
yao ming and shaq in todays NBA? cmon now, yao ming would play 20 minutes in 60 games in a season.
shaq would foul out or have to perimiter guard since his matchup (KAT, EMBIID, JOKIC) shoots 40% from 3.
then when shaq comes outside, hed get switched on with a shifty guard who goes inside and handles the business.
Lol, except Shaq and Yao would be shooting 90% and fouling everyone out within the 1st quarter. Embidd would have a season ending injury after the first possession. Kat would be crying on the bench questioning his life choices. And Jokic will be playing like his nickname.
KD is not a Center man, he’s more of a SF.
@@tonychen3368 who called KD a center then...
I feel like Yao would average 30, 20,10 and 3. Shaq would make these guys cry, literally tears in public. They would sit down on the court and pout. Lol
seriously, what is it with this obsession on speculating how a player from the past could cope in the modern game? smh lol
It’s never used in 90’s context. How come no one ever says how would bill Russell do in the 90’s?
They would look bigger than everybody. That’s how they would look.
Imo Giannis is this generation Shaq, and there will never be another Yao Ming
NO ONE! in the NBA right now would have been able to guard prime Shaq. All this talk about Rudy Gobert being able to shutdown Shaq....Brah! How it would've went is, Shaq would've gone to the line 20 times, Rudy would've fouled out, Shaq would've had 48pts, 18 rebounds and would've went 12/20 from free throws....Oh and Kobe would've had 36pts only cus he would've taken a backseat to feed the Big Fella all night and watch him DESTROY Rudy. Hakeem was the only big man in Shaq's career that can say that he one up'ed the big fella but that was more mental and experience than anything else.
Jahidi white was strong as shit lol 💯
SHAQ 28/80 at the free throw 1st quarter in today ERA😁
Shaq was ridiculous
They will be shooting 3s
How do you know?
Yao has a better jumper than lebron
That’s because he has an absolute perfect form for that.
