You left off the best part of Scott Foster's turn as an emergency back-up....getting named as the game's First Star...how's that for a day you'll never forget?!
Foster is the best one by far! But probably the best comedy line opportunity missed, when he was interviewed in the room after the game! He should have told reporters he'd be seeking a long-term deal after that shutout performance! lol

Earned it too. He had a few good save and a highlight reel stop that any great would be proud to have on their belt (uncontested one timer snap shot from a drop pass to the slot right to left glove side on a Stasny? That's hard to do with any kind of control and he did.

I think emergency goaltenders is my favourite quirk in all of sports. Every story brings a smile to my face. Glad to see one of them get game time. Foster was awesome.

The Scott Foster story is a great one... surprised that there was so little of his story in here.
I don't know about everyone else, but I can't help but smile when I see these stories... It's just such a cool experience for these guys and I think it's so great that these NHL orgs just call up local AAA Minor goalies to fill in and just give them the NHL dream experience for one night. I'm sure everyone is a bit as jealous/envious as I am, but I'm also really happy for all these guys. That's such a cool opportunity! :)

I am a substitute goalie in my local beer league, so seeing these stories keeps my dream alive :) I don’t want to have to face any real tough shots though XD. I’d have let in 2 or 3 of fosters saves

The real question is would these guys get a Stanley cup ring if their team wins the Stanley cup?
I suspect so. Teams usually give rings out to anyone who makes it onto the roster, even for a single game (and even if they don't play). Though I do wonder if the "no pay" rule affects that.
Moments like these give you a glimpse of the past, because that’s how goalies use to play (the way foster did)

that solid matte black mask that Laurie is wearing in the opening looks intimidating as hell. I love it, as a goalie, people think we always have to have these off the wall custom masks but sometimes it's the solid dark color masks that're most intimidating

So basically u can play anyone including someone who isn’t in the nhl. They’ll sign a 1 day pro contract to play in the game

I don't recall an emergency goalie actually playing in the game before foster. What a moment for him and the hawks.
I think they have before, but it was for a minute or so. Foster played like 14 and faced a few shots too, great display for an emergency.
Shawn Hunwick did for a short time. Eric Semborski was supposed to go in but the refs stopped it

Emergency goalie makes for a great story. Scott Halpin, came out of the crowd at the Cow Palace near S.F. to replace The Who's drummer Keith Moon who passed out from a drug overdose. Emergency drummer. Amusing ain't it.
