Maybe you should check your playback and recording levels on the trimmer, because you have slightly more gain in playback regardless of the tape.

Just out of interest , what year is your Sony deck from ? And did you try Sony cassettes from the period the deck was made ? How did the biasing go ? If you tried this .

The deck is not calibrated… and you record too high.
