In Chinese mythology, everything, and I mean literally everything can turn into human, which is considered to be the final form of all beings. So spiders, lampposts, even a random rock can do so if they have come in contact with LingQi(灵气, which can be translated into a combination of consciousness, the ability to understand and learn, and finally magic power) and wish to train hard for thousands of years. The cutscene showed spiders that have gone through this process, and they are now able to transform into humans. That's why if you pay attention to the youngest daughter (the one carrying the lantern), she still walks like a spider. Wukong has probably shapeshifted into the one they wanted to capture so that he can easily get to the boss. Also a lot was lost in translation, so basically when demons and monsters consume each other or a human, they will gain the LingQi(灵气) of the victim, which is a way to enhance their own spiritual training, so they can become more powerful faster. That's why a lot of demons eat human babies, because babies are considered to be pure. Btw. the real monkey king is one of the few with the ability to see the original form of any creatures, monsters and demons, no matter what they shapeshift into. But these spider don't have that ability, the big spider you saw at the end was probably the mum. In Chinese mythology, being a demon or non human being isn't necessarily evil or bad by default, it all depends on what you choose to do. Wukong for example is a monkey demon, but he chose to be good instead of evil. Hope that helps clear things out a bit.
As someone who is a diehard Journey to the West fan that grew up watching the classic 1986 tv series, I cannot wait to finally play as the legend Wukong or even just an alternate version of him
I think the devs have gone on record saying they don't want to tie a release date too early, so we probably wont be getting one until the devs are sure they've done their best. Personally, I have nothing but respect for this decision.
I agree. I much prefer it when they announce a release date that's really not too far off, rather than making it years down the road and delaying it over and over.
they post design roadmaps on the chinese UA-cam. clearly they spent some unwanted money buying hella expensive tracking devices before making the game (that's a quote from them). they are getting there though
There are rumors and speculations going on that they developers need more hands on deck to make the game complete and since we all know that wukong has over 72 abilities and its each time he kills an enemy that he's able to transform into them and utilise those abilities in essence it means they will have to create over 72 characters with the abilities which wukong is going to have ,the way I see it this game's gonna have a lot of levels and the I heard currently the developers who are working on this game are only 30 in number, so they are trying to hire capable hands ,I've been waiting for this game like forever and still looking out for the update when it's gonna be finally released
I an not a gamer, but the part where Wukong burnt the incense:- 1)调息:recuperation 2)缩地: maybe transportation to elsewhere 3)修行:self-cultivation 4)离开:exit/leave。 It should be main menu for options .
I really like the story of this game is build upon the original journey to the west but make it even much more dark. Also, add some more detail and explaination to the original story.
I agree; the grittiness really adds to it in a good way. Journey to the West is always so bright and cheery, so it's nice to see it portrayed this way.
@@JamesLovesGames well, exactly, Wukong has 72 transform abilities ("72" just mean he can become many creatures, include animal and plants and others unexpected things). in addition, Wukong also has others abilities, like "腾云驾雾"“缩地成寸““身外化身““铜头铁臂““三头六臂““法天象地““火眼金睛““定身术““避妖圈“, is hard to translate, but reading JOURNEY TO THE WEST can help u understand better Wukong's abilities. xd:

James, someone has loaded the Journey of the West drama series from China in You tube. 41 episodes . If u are interested, u can watch. There are Eng subtitles.
I think I caught a bit of that series after someone else recommended it to me when I posted the previous game trailer. I forgot about it, so I might check it out again.
