I didn't realize you were going to do a series on toiletry bags and just yesterday I commented on your video on the REI toiletry hanging kits. I mentioned NiteIze because of the minimalist simplicity and TSA compliance... and here it is! I have the pouch. In all honesty it took a bit of getting used to as the waterproof 'zipper' pull seems like you're going to rip the bag in two. I had some silica gel from my waterproof camera housing and put it on the slider in the very beginning as it helped yet didn't decrease the waterproof seal. It has become a kit that I use for very short trips when I put the pouch in with a day or two's worth of clothing in a personal item when I fly. Not concerned with leaks. Great review, I'll stay tuned for more!
Yep, I bought a whole pile of minimalist toiletry bags to test =) These are great little bags so far, completely waterproof, sturdy, lightweight. Haven't had an issue with the zipper yet, but I've only had them about a month. I just took the Matador pouches on my last trip, the FlatPak rolltop is like a mini drybag, very light and waterproof, but just a small sack with no organization.
I'm still surprised by how lightweight these are, you'd think a thick plastic packing cube would weight half a pound, but it's under 4 oz. Definitely much lighter options out there, but for what you're getting, a large waterproof packing cube, it's fantastic.
Do you prefer these or the Matador Toiletry Case? I am trying to find my ideal toiletry pouch for one bag travel. Another one that I am considering is the Gravel 3-1-1 pouch but dont like how there is no bottom gusset. I do wish the NiteIze had a loop similar to the one on the Matador. Although, 2 small heroclips might work well for the NiteIze. Should I even be concerned with a "waterproof" zipper if I am mostly just concerned with spills inside of the bag leaking out? The annoyances of the zipper might not be worth it for me if aquaguard zippers are generally good enough. I mostly would be using 3 of the Matador Toiletry bottles, maybe my 3 face care tubes (if it fits), my toothpaste, hand cream, a mini hand towel, and maybe my toothbrush. Also, regarding the toothbrush, what is your preferred way of travelling with one and how to store it? I always find my toothbrush to be disgusting by the end of the trip due to not drying well or fast enough.
The Mataor pouches work fine, but the design is a little underwhelming. It's basically just a sack with either a zipper or rolltop. Between those and the Niteize I'd probably go NiteIze unless weight was a major factor. I don't think waterproof is a concern. My favorite toiletry bag is the Sea to Summit Hanging toiletry bag and it's not waterproof. I don't take it in the shower, and if it gets wet I'll just open the top and let it dry out. I like the hanging bags because sometimes hotels/hostels don't have counter space. Sometimes spills happen, but if you're worried about that you can add an extra ziplock and put things you think might leak in there. Also depending on where you travel, a clear pouch for liquids can be beneficial. Usually security in Europe seems to be more strict on having your liquids separated and in a plastic bag. So having an extra zip-lock bag is good, also you can use it for food. Toothbrush I've been using the GUM 158RA Foldable Travel Toothbrush. It's tiny and the case protects the bristles well. Just leave it open sitting on your pouch after you brush your teeth to give it a chance to dry out and put it away later. Any toothbrush with a case will get funky if you don't do that.

I've used the Niteize 3-1-1 for several years with no complaints. It's perfecr as a dry bag for my phone at the beach and on the boat.
Nice, yeah there's no need to bring an additional dry bag if you use this.

I got the waterproof packing cube, I use it to keep stuff dry in public showers.

If you lay your items horizontally rather than vertically in the 3-1-1 bag, they fit better. :)
