Thank you for this idea. My daughter uses a wheelchair for mobility. I can't believe the prices for wheelchair tandem bicycles (over $5,000). I just have to figure out how to tweak it with a chair that reclines to support her neck and head and add a 5-point harness for more body support.

It is possible to add rings to the wheels to so that the wheelchair can be self-propelled?

Would love to know about transporting it - it there any way to fold the wheelchair part down to fit in a car's boot? (trunk)

I purchased the Duet after seeing it at the abilities expo for years. I thought it would be good for my son and me. The people at the show assured me that the only thing that had to be done to it was to put on the bike seat and pedals. When it arrived, it came with several pieces that needed assembly. It also needs many parts adjusted for correct usage, such as raising the handle bar for the wheelchair. All of this takes mechanical ability. I am very upset that I was not told that it needed so much assembly and would not have purchased it knowing this. Make sure you are told the truth about what is needed to make this bike usable. It is sitting in my garage and I am going to have to hire people to fix it.

It is a bicycle. Perhaps you should consider the same thing when purchasing a car. You need to make manual changes to make it work for yourself... such as moving the seat, mirrors, steering wheel, etc. This is a bicycle.... If you didn't expect to make these changes, you shouldn't be riding a bike to begin with. Sorry. I'm all about ease of use.... but when it comes to bicycles, those things are pretty standard especially when you order through a company that's not local. Many people cant afford this accessible bike so dont let it sit and be wasted. Let someone else use it who is willing to make the proper adjustments or hire someone to help you. This bike is too good to throw away.

A company designed and built a bike for you and your family and you cant be bothered to spend an hour making it fit right ?? the adjustability is what makes it a great product, you can get a wheelbarrow much cheaper

Dang people...why so critical? Yeah, that is a disappointment if you were unaware of assembly. I will say, if it were me, I probably would have had the assembly question as my priority question - I cant stand assembling things, mostly due to not being able to find the spare time. And who knows what promises were made to get a sale. More importantly, none of the you understand that home situation as to why this could be difficult. Such a lack of acceptance and empathy; nice attitudes. Especially when the whole purpose of this bike is to help improve quality of life for the family, kids , young adults, even elderly that many of us care for. So many of us have ZERO free time and resources as sole caregivers that it would take much longer to find and dedicate time, for what may be a huge project for some. The daily and even hourly stress is totally overwhelming in some tough situations, so yeah, a box of bike parts is way overwhelming. Come on!!
Why did any of you waste your time in trying to bring someone down who may already be down. These replies really struck a nerve with me. And if you live with or care for special needs individuals, think about what it would be like at home if things were much worse than maybe your current challenges. You have no idea what people are dealing with. Just think about it before typing what is considered crap and nastiness. I would think there would be some compassion too. And if you're just cold inside with no compassion, at least have the idea to not say anything at all.

Simply have a physical therapist help. They know the right position for adaptive recreation equipment.

      I
This is a great video thank you for this! I just got the bike for me and my daughter and I agree with this user about the adjustments. The instruction manual is not thorough, it would be AMAZING to see a video explaining all the parts, adjustable components, and a walk thru on HOW to adjust them. I have no idea how to change the gears/when to change them and did not receive the separate manual on gear adjustments.
