    Make sure when you cut the tabs for the motor you also drill the holes out on the motor so you can recess the screw heads. And then cut the extra length off the other end. That way you don't cut the frame. I'm so happy we're doing the same build!

    Great video Pat. My son and I have been pretty inspired on our build because of your videos. We have upgraded the chain, DNM 135mm travel shock, LED lights installed, ProTaper handlebar pad and a Nilight LED headlight powered by a Talentcell 12volt rechargeable lithium ion battery pack. He’s 9 and he loves it and he is also the envy of all of his friends. Keep up the great work.

      Adding a heatsink is also a good idea. Those motors get really hot quickly. They also slow down and seem to have much less torque than when they are cold so probably a great idea to keep them cold.

    Good area to mount that speed controller would be underneath the seat above the back wheel. Lots of clearance there

    Nice! I just recently built my bike with a similar setup. I used a 2000W 48V brushless with a 48v 20ah 30a lithium battery. All of it fit nice and well in the MX650 chassis. I've also got that issue where setting 2 on the 3 speed switch is the fastest. Really weird. Guess all of these motor kits are manufactured in the same factory or something.

      It's the wiring on the 3 speed switch ya. You'd have to swap the plugs around on the 3 speed plug until it gets right i wouldn't touch it tho

      Step down converter is used for all electronics that are designed to run on 12V, but installed on a 48-72V bike. You don't need it unless you are running 12V lights, just see what your headlight is rated for.

    • @PatOutdoors
      @PatOutdoors  4 місяці тому

      I recently installed a Vevor 48V brushless kit on my Razor go kart and it’s the same thing. Speed 2 is also faster than 3. These cheaper kits don’t have regen, simply (3) speed levels (50%, 75%, and 100%.) You can simply repin the switch if u want 3 to be the fastest. I’ve also tested that it’s stuck in the fastest mode anyway if you leave no speed selector in place

    • @PatOutdoors
      @PatOutdoors  2 роки тому

      What motor and kit did you go with? This same one? I would have recommended going with a lithium battery that discharges at least 40-50 Amps continuously, combined with a 13 tooth sprocket. The battery is the more important part though. The SLA batteries doesn't give this kind of kit it's full potential.

      (4) 12V SLA batteries wired in a series = 48V, using a Fast Scooters 48V charger. If you get a lithium 48V battery, you need to get a lithium specific charger for the matching voltage.
