hands down, absolute best band ever! I was born S. Calif 1949 and grew up with the Beach Boys music, they had the surf/calif scene down!

It is incredible that after 60 years and some earthquakes, Paradise Cove beach still exists, and you can see The Beach Boys where the original photographic shots were taken for The Beach Boys' first albums, but there is still more, the original surfboard It was owned by Dennis Wilson phoshoot the 1961 - 1962

What they fail to mention...is that Bruce Johnston, and Al Jardine, were not there for the SURFIN' SAFARI album cover shoot. The cover shows Brian, Carl and Dennis Wilson, Mike Love and David Marks on the old truck. Al had been in the band, but had left the band for Dental school, only to return a year or two later. Bruce would join the band in early 1965, after Mike asked him to find a replacement for Brian, who had retired from the road. Bruce couldn't find anyone, so he decided to tour with the band, which ultimately led him to becoming a permanent member of the band. (He left for a few years in the early 1970s, but came back by the end of the 1970s). Still, it's an iconic place in the history of the band.

Always interesting to see Al and David together. They took turns replacing each other early on.

“Couldn’t find anyone.” I’m sure he looked really hard.

@@kingofallwhites Bruce has said he called at least 10-15 people, but I tend to think...he joined because he probably knew it would be fun, and might lead to other things with the Beach Boys in the future. I think he understood even in 1965, the brilliance and genius of Brian Wilson. He's always been one of Brian's biggest fans.

That surf board ended up on pawn stars when some tried to sell it.
