After Maki goes home and slaughters most of her clan she ends up in a fight with her cousin Naoya who uses projection sorcery and starts throwing her around with no problem at all, but eventually Naoya rushes down on Maki and taps her using his technique thinking he’s going to stun her, but instead Maki tells Naoya that she’s figured out how his technique works as she bashes his face in leaving Naoya completely knocked out on the ground with several of his teeth hanging out. As Maki heads off thinking that the job here was done, we see Naoya crawling away as he says that Maki failed to finish him off correctly so he gets to live another day… but at that moment Maki’s mother actually comes from Behind Naoya bleeding from her own Maki inflicted wound, as she falls ontop of Naoya with a knife thrusting it into his heart from behind, and taking the sorcerer out forever… or should I say for now. This won’t be the last we’ll see of Naoya, and next we’ll explain his SECOND fight with Maki, as a curse.

Therefore, it had to be self-inflicted, or she deliberately let her die slower than the others (for some reason). It has to be one or the other. Because her mom is a normal ass human so how else would she survive unless maki deliberately held back or she never even attacked her herself because she did that the moment maki saw her.

You can just blame the zenin family, they treasure cursed energy more than anything, so giving birth to twin daughters who one of them can't used cursed techniques and other who don't have much potential as jujutsu sorcerer, as you can see how this turned out, a father who hate his daughters and wished they aren't born for how disappointing they are and mother who can't show motherly love to her daughters in family like this, Maki family is in itself broken the moment she and Mai are born, at least in megumi case we know before his mother death toji seems to become a really good husband and even give his son a really nice name a pity his mother death lead for what is it.

Okay im gonna get crucified but maki shouldve died. There is no actual explanation that explains her getting a power up that doesnt contradict the pre established elements of the heavenly restriction as stated by yuki.
The reason why toji is the way he is, is because of 1. His heavenly restriction and 2. His constant stress training from killing curses.
His body was evolving to withstand the damage of curses, and getting stronger and stronger to compensate for the lack of cursed energy. His strength and durability isnt really something he got at birth, but something he built up.
Maki doesnt have that. Yes, shes abnormally strong, but she didnt become fully heavenly restricted until mai died. And even then, her death would not have even directly made her stronger. Maki should have either died alongside mai in that room and even if maki did escape shed get chopped up by her dad or naoya. Its only because of a bullshit plot mechanic that this even happens, and its really stupid and rushed because to this day on november 27, 2023 ABSOLUTELY 0 PEOPLE HAVE REACTED OR ACKNOWLEDGED THAT MAKI EVEN KILLED THE ENTIRE ZENIN CLAN, NOT EVEN YUTA COMMENTED ON IT.
You know how easy it is to fix this?
Just have mai be the one to be trappped in the curse room and maki be somewhere else, maybe fighting a curse and winning, and when mai finally dies, the heavenly restriction is removed and maki realises her sister died via twin psychic whatever. Showcase her rapid growth by having her face off against other curses of increasing power. We see what how the restriction works through the trial by fires, and build it up to the moment where she comes to the zenin estate and murks them all. Build up, cause, effect.

mother actually loved her daughters but due to the rigidness of the zenin clan , she couldn't really do anything. After all they were all super powered beings to and her and her daughters were not. She finally got her revenge in her own way for the Pain they all endured!
I think she just hated the Zenin Clan, probably resented them or something, since they treat women really badly. I'm not sure if she really loved Maki and Mai, it didn't seem like that was the case, she says she's grateful for having them but that's prob because Maki wiped the whole clan.
She was also a victim of the clan. Women in the Zenin clan are considered the lowest, plus she had the children that her husband hated so much, so she definitely suffered and had a lot of resentment for the clan.
Idk if she has a normal motherly love for her daughters, but she was glad that she birthed them because they were the ones who ended it all

I think It's a bit different, Eren wants to kill way more people, but also his reasoning was hella flawed - there is no such thing commiting mass genocide for the greater good. Maki wasn't doing it for the "greater good" it was straight up revenge, and she limited it to just the Zenin clan who where actively harmful. Most of the people Eren wanted to kill where just normal powerless people.
Not to say Maki was in the right, but she also doesn't have a semi cult in universe that agree with her actions, like the yeagerists which is also what makes Eren so much more terrifying
