Mate, wish I saw this video month's ago. Miy Maldives, second hand, started doing the same after about 6 months of use. I thought it was just the black rubber pipes connecting the pump unit to the spa as I pulled them apart and they were disintegrating just live your whole spa. Even after changing them out I was still getting Black bits. I tried and tried thinking they'll eventually disappear with enough scooping but now after 3 more months they're still coming out bigger than ever. I had no idea about the black piping within the spa and that was the only explanation I could of now. I was not going to get another one, and I'm very displeaded with their service (non existent or rude). But if you say you got the newer model with clear pipes then I shouldn't get a replicated issue. Thank you so so much for uploading this and tearing your spa up. It's not just a one off manufacturing defect, my issue is the EXACT same. It's only when I turn the jets on too. Cheers.

Yes. We only had it a few months. But Bestway Lay Z Spa really did try to blame us for the fault at first and rejected any claim for a replacement. It took a few months to convince them it was a manufacturing issue. Once I videod the problem an put it on UA-cam, they instantly agreed to replace it. Especially when I pointed out that within a week it had over 1500 views
Hi, bought my Maldives 2021, out of warranty, and black bits of theinner liner of pipe have started to be blown through the hydrojets. Lay z spa are indicating it’s due to high chemical use. I consider this is not the case, as only me uses spa, in line with their guidelines and I use test strips every couple of days to get the chemicals correct. Did they replace yours. I am going along the lines of unsatisfactory quality goods, but they are sticking to their version. Any advice would be appreciated.
I am cross that i cant find info on the maldives, always on all the other tubs... Just deflating mine for winter and struggling with deflating the beds etc, do i take the lights, jets out?

The warranty at the time had another year and a half before running out. Unfortunately Lazy Spa hate helping their customers after they have their cash. Lazy spa needs to be reported to Trading Standards.
Great video. If I was at Bestway Quality assurance, I would have you send me samples of your black tubes. I would bet it's a manufacturing defect of the tube vendor ( unlikely Bestway makes the tubes). It is important for responsible manufacturers to understand the root cause of your situation. Transparent tubing is probably not the same material and/or process, so you should be OK. However, delaminating transparent bits may be less visible, but would still be a real pain.
Wrong use of chemicals i guess. Had the Lay z spa Hawaii hydrojet pro, The Maldives hydrojet pro, Santorini hydrojet pro and now the San Francisco hydrojet pro and never had this issue
Hi dear friend I have just bought one x mas black Friday 2022 50%off not got it out yet till March April 2023.. maldives... without destroying your new hot tub can you tell your new tub has clear pipes or black again ?? Would love to know ill try and inspection cam down the jets to find out what mines got ... love to hear bk from you with the answer

Your new hot tub has clear pipes without destroying it like your previous one .. can you deliver PROOF.. ?? I would like to know that so I can then use the same method to check mine .. The reason for my persistence is... If Lazy spa lied in the first place to you saying there is no pipes in the Maldives hot tub but there is ... What's the chance they ain't lying again about the new version having CLEAR pipes ??? With out PROOF.. The only way I can think of is removing one of the hydro jet heads and feed an inspection cam down and record and present your findings to be 100% certain Because if you do find out they have lied to you and you got it writing the declaration of clear pipes was mentioned by them .. you got a case for trade description act 1968
Thanks for watching the video. I checked the new one with an inspection cam, and it showed clear pipes. Unfortunately, just as I was about to record the screen, the camera on the inspection machine stopped working. Also, very unfortunately, it was a friend's machine. He said it was a brand new expensive machine even though it had marks all over it and was filthy. He then wanted me to buy him a new one. A very expensive one. I offered to buy him the one, the same as his which I found online for £30, he refused the offer. So I've left it for now. But I did see clear pipes before it broke.
Hi there, Please confirm if all versions of this Maldives model are made with black pipes or it was just a poorly constructed one that you were sent. I'm sure there are 2 or 3 versions of the Maldives. I believe the newer model has a white coloured base pump system that connects to the inflatable, and the older model the pump system is grey/white in colour! Is this correct? How can I differentiate between? If there is a particular model made with black pipes like yours, please let me know which one it is so i can avoid buying... or did you just get unlucky and it was a one-off poorly manufactured item ? - I want to avoid buying any of the Maldives with these black pipes!! Thank you so much in advance for your help 😊

This new one they've sent me as a replacement, I can confirm, has clear plastic pipes. I've had no problems with this one. The unit is the same. Grey in colour and has the antifreeze built in. So it doesn't freeze in winter. That's all I can confirm at this point. Hope this helps.
Have sent photos and video of mine and also photos of parts of your video, their reply was unfortunately people on social media forums only tend to report a negative experience and this does not reflect the much higher nm er of satisfied customers we have. Apologies we are unable to offer any further assistance. I am sending a letter stating I am expressing my statutory rights to issue a final right to rejects, requesting a suitable refund. Thank you for your reply.
It sounds like Lazy Spa have gone back to their "We have your cash, listen to the hand" position. Lazy Spa really don't care about their customers. They put them through hell to replace any faulty products. The proof is in their reply to you. They refer to your experience rather than their faulty product. You can go to the small claims court or Trading Standards etc. What ever you do, video it and plaster it all over social media referring to Faulty Product. There are a few on here having problems with Lazy Spa. Get in touch with them and form a group. That's what I did. Lazy Spa didn't stand a chance. I would had gone viral with it if I had to. I've now sold mine and would never buy another Lazy Spa product, ever.

I'd send then the video of me taking apart the liner and opening the pipes. This will help your case no end

We never deflated ours for the winter as it had freeze protection on it. So we used it continuously. Sorry I can't help you with that question
