    Well, losing rough divide means less weaving if the boss decides to do a tankbuster during your burst

    Im sad the rough divide animation is gone and I wish we got something to replace it with oGCD wise, but I think this will be a net positive. Just weird that Paladin and Warrior dont have the same treatment

    Personally I wish they would put continuation on the skill button itself vs having it's own button. But, yeah, I do like the changes.

    I just wished Reign of Beasts combo didn’t break Gnashing Fang so we could weave Mits freely in No Mercy.
    At the very least, we can now probably use an alternative opener to shift them around if mitigation weaving really becomes an issue.

    Actually, since Reign of Beasts combo has higher potency than Gnashing Fang and Double Down doesn’t break its combo, it will probably be optimal to go into even bursts with zero carts to use Bloodfest immediately.

    seeing how I only ever cast sonic break and no mercy together them being linked doesn't hurt much to me

      Due to the way it snapshots you really shouldn't ever be casting it outside no mercy anyway.

      Nope Xenos says it will break Gnashing Fang.. because im absolutly sure if it not the new Gunbreaker Burst will something like.. GF 1 Sonic Break.. Double Down the full Lionheart Combo and then GF 2 and GF 3

      @@Envi0s lionheart means we now have extra cartridges as filler + no more using burst strikes during bursts. no more rough divides means we now lose like 3 dmg but we can use gap closers for what they're supposed to do: gap close

      @@miao_223cwz also you proved yourself pretty much wrong in the same comment, if people are so bad at the game to beed hyper ultra movement, they could just choose to use rough divide as a gap closer tool because of its "low damage"

    I am a little mixed with gap closers no longer dealing damage, on one hand its DPS loss but on the other we can use them when needed which is why I think they did it, we just used them for dps weaving.

    I really hope that animation for the new combo doesn't go live. It looks so janky having the character bounce in random directions while floating.

    Pluses: i womt have to worry about bad ping and delay getting me killed/ clipping me when im forced to rough divide for damage. The Lionheart combo looks cool and fated circle continuation is long overdue.
    Minuses: the gap closer we got is lame. And feels like they couldve done more for it. They didnt add more to heart of light, and say what you want about burst strike continuation ogcds but i found it fun. I was hoping lionheart got continuation for it or something.
    Overall though
    Really hoping that for lower level content they buff potencies to make up for the rough divide damage lost.

    Reducing the oGCD spam and not having the 3 burst strike window anymore because it's replaced with Reign of Beast combo is a good change.

    They can take the potency off of it fine but at least let me keep the Rough Divide animation. The new gap closer just looks lame.

      It would not make sense with animation attacking enemy, and dealing 0 dmg.

    More weave space is nice....having to remap for Sonic Break gonna be interesting...maybe I'll just have a second button for no mercy so I don't have to change my muscle memory, lol.

      I think it's gonna be one of the impacted ability by the new system, either both are on the same button or on separated one at choice, because yeah, muscle memory gonna hit hard on this one xD

Keep my current No Mercy button and then throw No mercy on my conic break button as well because my current No mercy button isn't easy to reach and my sonic break I have in a position so I can quickly hit Blasting Zone and bow Shock right after.

      I believe it's the Lv. 99/100 Gunblade that you get near the end of the MSQ. It's a part of your artifact armor so the MSQ should be fairly direct in saying "Hey! Go do this and get some cool armor and a weapon!"

    The new combo animations feel like they have been borrowed from Kingdom Hearts. You spend more time flying than not.

    I've been a GNB main since the release and I'm a little disappointed for Sonic Break's loss outside of No Mercy as it is extra damage we lose- though I suppose the new bloodfest combo makes up for it despite it's long CD...
    Rough Divide's loss isn't an extreme loss but it was a fun button to press for weaving purposes.
    I'm happy to have a continuation button off of Fated Circle finally, GNB's AOE has always felt lackluster given how precious the resource required to use Fated Circle is. Have to use 2 full GCDs for one amped up AOE. Not exactly a worthwhile trade imho.
    I am quite glad for Great Nebula though, GNB has great survivability already but when it came to surviving tankbusters you tend to lose a lot of health even with mits active solely because you have to spend your mits wisely. We don't have Paladin's Sheltron, Warrior's Intuition or Dark Knight's... actually I don't know- what does DK have? I don't play it enough. Not important.
    This'll at least give both the healers and ourselves a bit less of a heart attack so that's a solid W.
    Going back to that Lion Heart combo attack. I am deeply disturbed by the animation. It may just be the worst looking animation for a melee job to date. Not because the animation itself is bad, mind you. Rather because it just does not fit the job. GNB's rooted as a job where the power comes from the weapon and the aether-infused shells you load into the gunblade, it was never about the user except for when it came to endurance. And now they give us an ability that- let's be fair, would work better for Dragoons or Red Mages or even Monks- where you FLOAT and change trajectory mid-air? I have never been more appalled by a class design decision.
    The best stretch I can think of that excuses it is that the GNB uses a cartridge to create an explosion to displace themselves mid-air and use that momentum to cut the enemy but... as said, that's a real damn stretch.
    Yes I'm making a fuss about how an ability looks over the positive gameplay implications. Class fantasy is basically 60-70% of the appeal. I'm sure the ability will be good in the long run damage-wise but my god... what have they done.
    Suffice to say the only thing that can fix it is the modding community.

      Yooo that weapon combo you don't think fits the "gunbreaker class fantasy" is literally Lionheart, a limit break from FF8, which the class is based on... To say it doesn't fit is just plain wrong. It might not fit your idea of what the Gunbreaker is and that's fine... But it's definitely a part of Gunbreaker lore.

    Losing an OGCD (Rough Divide) without having anything to replace it? Not a fan of this. There's already too many attacks in my No Mercy window where I don't have any OGCDs left for double weaving; why would we want LESS?
    Some might say it's so we can use defensives, but let's be honest: no tank should be popping mitigations between every GCD. We only need space for 1-2 such things in the window. And we already had that space, and more.

      Some fights, you need to be able to move to reposition bosses slighty. This is much easier to do when you don't need to double weave

    Love the GNB changes. Weird that DRK and GNB got "we have thunderclap at home" while the other two tanks keep their identity/potency damage gap closers. It doesn't solve the problem faced by tanks and it takes out job identity from DRK and GNB because rough divide and plunge are such cool skills for their jobs. The rest all looks rad though.

    losing the damage on the gap closers suuuuuucks. for both DRK and GNB. it would be fine if they were just "thunderclap at home" where you could also target allies for it. but because they are JUST at enemies, losing the damage means they lost utility. when i am up in the bosses face doing damage i dont need a gap closer.
    not to mention, all the gap closers are rather generic. they're all just slides with slightly different animations. so the aesthetic is kinda lost on them. like plunge and rough divide fit the aesthetic and lore of the DRK and GNB basically being offensive tanks.
    ah well, getting lionheart finally is kinda cool though.

      Losing the damage means they GAINED utility. Now you don't have to waste them in your already busy opener and can actually use them as gap closers to get back in range of a boss and maximise damage.
      Do you even know what utility means?

      ​@qwertypoiuy355 OK.... so what about when you DONT have to gap close? And plunge didn't just have to be during burst, could be a weave at any time. In addition, the utility as a gap closer was still there. So it had TWO uses. Damage or closing the gap when needed, and it was up to the player to decide which is more optimal for the fight.
      Which has more utility? something that does two things and is ALWAYS useful. Or something with one use which is only useful like 30% of the time. Cause A LOT of content that's not savage or above lvl80 don't need a pure gap closer that only targets enemies.
      Also we have ranged attacks that are instant so you can move while spamming them if needed. Which renders a pure gap closer even less useful.
      Sooooo..... yeah. There's that.

      @@godsplayingfield When you don't have to gap close, you don't press the fucking button. What is so difficult to understand? You've typed so much nonsense here for such a simple concept.
      Ranged attacks are also good for when you're away from the boss, but now you can also use gap closers to maintain uptime, allowing for higher skill expression.
      They have already said that they want things like gap closers to be more meaningful in DT and fights will be designed to allow for this. You're basing modern combat design choices on legacy content.

    The GNB and DRK new dash animations are horrendous; gunbreaker's is literally lean forward and move.
    Other than that it is ok... just ok... But why roll back to animations made three decades ago

    Another leap/jump replaced by a lame-looking dash, can't say I'm liking that trend, and it's making me wonder if there's something up in the backend that's making Square want to move away from those kinds of animations now, because it sure as hell ain't being changed for aesthetic reasons (or "job fantasy" in Dragoon's case).
    I'm also not a fan in general of these "buff turns into attack button" changes across multiple jobs, that wasn't the kind of hotbar consolidation I was looking forward to, and now it's going to make those jobs awkward to play because I had my buffs and attacks set up a certain way and this throws all of that out.

    Um actually 🤓 you mentioned that gapcloser changed bc Trajectory can only target enemies, and not enemies and allies “like thunderclap”. Thunderclap is monks gap closer, GNBs old gap closer continuation can only target allies as well. So the only change is losing its damage to targeted enemy’.

      Pretty sure Rin knows that. The comparison was to Thunder Clap because they're both damageless dashes, not because they're both GNB moves.

    Thats brutal to hear we lost Rough Divide and most likely Plunge is gone as well, but seeing some of theses changes and new stuff is kind of mitigating that loss.

DRK is losing their damage gapcloser which Shadowstride looks nice but GNB kind of just hovers forward, would've been lovely to see like a combat roll since they're more fluid and such.

      While visually they're a little more bland, it makes sense to have no potency on gap closers for drk and gnb. They both are already extremely bloated in weaves to hit during burst windows as they currently are.

      @@woofaloof7836 You're entirely right, not having to forcefully use your Gapclosers for damage in rotations leaves you using them for, you know, gapclosers. I suppose I'm just mourning the loss like Kaiten of the past and we're getting something not particularly cool looking but it'll feel better in the long run.

Yeah they may look "silly" if they use the weapon to connect but repelling shot on bard has existed for 8+ years and it still uses arrows to jump back and it lost it's damage in sb... feels bad

      They're reference to FF8, you know the game that introduced Gunblades to the series. While it's 3 separate attacks here, in 8 they're all just part of Lionheart, and Squall floats in the air and teleports around and shit while doing it.

      How to easily tell when someone only plays the game as an mmo that doesnt pay homage to other ff games. I get not everyone that plays 14 is an ff fan but yoshi p has multiple times he sees the game as an ff game

    All my hype for dawntrail is fucking gone, gnb already lacks ogcd so why remove one??? Class never felt bloated to begin with, this is possibly the worst change and also makes low level gnb far worse to play because less damage due to an ogcd being removed, im never putting that garbage trajectory shit on my hotbar

    This is the worst job change I've ever seen. They are removing 5 ogcds on even windows, and 2 on odds. Who is this change for? because if you dont like to weave, why would you play GNB. It is the only tank I like, planning mitigation was the whole thing. I cant understand why would they purposely remove the aspect of the job we like. This is like making Fire 4 an instant cast and blm moving around because it would be "easier". This is killing the job indentity. And you cant even mess up sonic break now. This can't stay like this, they need to fix it. The job cant become easier from lvl 90 to 100. This is a heavy hype kill for me. I'm sad now. I'll play something else, but holy molly, this is dropping the ball. I can only hope they fix this.
