I just did some research on this and what I found says that the base of this release is Makers CS. They then take half of the barrels in the blend and add 10 FO staves for 5 weeks, then rest it in their limestone cellar. The other half, they add the same 10 FO staves, but rest it for 9 weeks in the same cellar, then combine and bottle.
Yeah I think the idea is just MM46CS but tuned in to exactly where they want it instead of 1 batch with FO for 2-3 months. I expect we see regular MM46CS come back next year and this just ate up their MM46CS barrels for this year.
the difference is the age of the blend, and one stave profile is seared the other is toasted. Similar but def different, it is Makers after all, cheers
When it comes to wheaters, try one you’ve probably never heard of - Glenn Creek distillery’s SWHEAT. Pot stilling a barrel a day in the old Old Crow distillery in Frankfort, KY.
I paid (57.00) for my bottle and IMO it’s not nearly as good as the BEP(60.00) or the BRT-01(60.00) and I don’t really get any chocolate, not much caramel, and very little maple. Glad I got a deal.
I paid srp for a bottle and loved it so much I went back and grabbed another bottle to save for later. Haven’t heard any complaints on this stuff and I certainly don’t have any of my own. And I am not a makers fan boy by any means.
The issue is that Makers told us that BEP was the last Wood Finishing Seriers release and then a year later they said psyche we are actually going to keep doing it. It makes it seem like they couldn't think of anything else to do.
I'm a Maker's enjoyer, and I really think this release punched well above its weight class in regards to the other releases. Is it as good as Cellar Aged? No. Is it better than pretty much all of the license plates? I think so! Worth the MSRP by a mile.
I got it a couple weeks ago. I'm not a huge Maker's fan, and honestly I'm not mad that I have it, but I could think of 10 50$ bottles I would have rather had.
I understand the confusion because MM didn’t do a good job with the verbiage on the label, but this is not just MM46 CS in a different bottle 😂 they just rebranded the license plate series and called this the heart instead of calling this “BR-22A”
Passing on this one. They said Wood Finishing Series was done. Then they still say this is WFS but it’s basically 46 Cask Strength. Seems like a cash grab which stinks
Makets 46 cask is seared staves, not toasted. I still feel like the rounded bottle of Makers 46 Cask Strength is better than the new bottle and it shouldn't be, anyone else?
If they had told me as a kid that I’d never fall into quicksand and wouldn’t ever need to stop drop and roll, but would probably shit myself a couple times a year as an adult (thanks, Crohns), I’d probably have checked out as a teen.
Loved the older MM 46 CS releases. Was not a fan of the new releases, had 2 different batches and both felt young with a lot of grain/grass notes. As you mentioned, lots of mixed/leaning negative reviews on this bottle so will probably skip this one. Still have plenty of license plate whiskey to drink until they put out their next batch - cheers!
The hearts in distilling describes the kept distillate, after eliminating the heads and the tails. It's the preferential distillate for drinking, as heads have the more complex alcohols that can injure and tails contain the more bitter complex molecules. All that being said, many distilleries will keep a couple parts per million of the heads and more of the tails, so maybe this expression completely eliminated the heads and tails
That’s a good guess. But the side of the bottle says it’s named for “the team that distills our whisky”, stating that the team is “the center-the heart” of their process.
I have this bottle and the tasting notes listed by ya’ll is super inaccurate…there’s a heavy chocolate note that also exists in my Cowboy Bourbon. Either way it’s an exceptional makers product.
So yours is BR-22A and 111.7 proof. Mine... is BR-22A and 112 proof? What's the difference? I'm confused now. I had to stop the video and do a double take when I saw your bottle was 111.7. I just picked mine up today at Costco in Florence KY.
I feel like all the makers releases are just slight variations of the same thing, and they’re all pretty good. The license plate series was my entry to LE’s in general, but I’m not buying them any more
Okay, so then is it confirmed that it's just makers Mark 46 cast strength bottled in a different glass. Nothing different if that's the case, then why isn't it on the shelves Everywhere?
LOL you guys are funny in a bad way. this is far better vs 46. it also has a different stave profile, its aged longer. its all around way better. perfume??? bruh no dont just say stupid just because you have zero to offer and need to say something for a video. ugh.

Right on! It's better than most of their products for sure!
As a Makers fan I am very happy with this bottle. Way better than the limited series over the last few years other than the cellar aged.
the difference is the age of the blend, and one stave profile is seared the other is toasted. Similar but def different, it is Makers after all, cheers

Got mine at Walmart for $62. 😀 Riverview, FL.
It’s always sunny in Philly clip immediately made this a better review. Cheers junkies
Haven't heard anyone complain about Heart Release. I've heard nothing but great things and I enjoy my bottle of it. I think it's better than BEP 2023.
Will grab it at retail…not the secondary it is popping up at.
I just got one for $67. Seemed like a fair price. I don’t know if I would buy it again but happy to try it for that price.
Sean, i feel ya buddy. Been battling GERD myself....its no joke some days. Im also taking Omeprazole and some days have to double up.
Yea as long as I don't go full trash panda it's not bad
Unfortunately you would get rid of that quitting drinking , I suggest taking a year off and coming back
You guys have the live edge shelves behind you, you should get a cool stump slab for the bottle stand up front
49.00 at Costco . Went very quick . I do like the lost recipe a lot better even at 75.00 cheers
I’m a big fan of makers and love this..
I paid (57.00) for my bottle and IMO it’s not nearly as good as the BEP(60.00) or the BRT-01(60.00) and I don’t really get any chocolate, not much caramel, and very little maple. Glad I got a deal.
Let it open up and re try it. Then the chocolate and caramel come thru
I paid srp for a bottle and loved it so much I went back and grabbed another bottle to save for later. Haven’t heard any complaints on this stuff and I certainly don’t have any of my own. And I am not a makers fan boy by any means.
Picked one up for $66.99, and since I really enjoyed 46CS, looking forward to trying it.
One is French Oak one is Virgin Oak
I completely agree, this is better than cask strength 46. I got it for 70, pretty good value.
This is one of my favorites from Maker’s I really enjoy it
Had this series twice in Chicago very nice 🍻
When distilling, they typically separate the distillate into heads, hearts, and tails. I thought it was a play on that.
This is a great bottle that is affordable and relatively available. Good review.
Oh joy, being that the 46CSis my current favorite Makers I’ll have to keep an eye out for this one over the cellar aged 😁
Virgin French oak vs toasted French oak there ya go
Got one about a month ago I thought it was amazing
I totally agree with your review
The issue is that Makers told us that BEP was the last Wood Finishing Seriers release and then a year later they said psyche we are actually going to keep doing it. It makes it seem like they couldn't think of anything else to do.
I was wondering the same thing about the 46 cask strength being the same thing. I want to get the heart to do the comparison.
It's $64.95 here in Oregon.
What stores have them in Oregon? Im looking for it, it's $78.99 here in WA not including the 20% tax. Thank you.
I was lucky enough to buy a back up for 79 after tax and I enjoy it alot
Amazing how hard it is to get LE products in Iowa and MI.
I'm a Maker's enjoyer, and I really think this release punched well above its weight class in regards to the other releases. Is it as good as Cellar Aged? No. Is it better than pretty much all of the license plates? I think so! Worth the MSRP by a mile.
You guys crack me the fuck up... Keep pumping out the content. 🎉
Got this from Costco for $57. Cheers!
I got it a couple weeks ago. I'm not a huge Maker's fan, and honestly I'm not mad that I have it, but I could think of 10 50$ bottles I would have rather had.
Dan for the win!!!😂
Thanks fellas. Not a fan at all of Makers in french oak staves. Saved me $80!
So basically it’s a makers mark 46 cask strength, but aged longer! And I saw a comment that they aged it in the limestone cellar they have
I just picked up two bottles, I just need the cellar aged
It’s real good. 🤷🏻♂️
Binny’s near me has it for $75 🍻
I love this bottle! It’s a chocolate bomb
I understand the confusion because MM didn’t do a good job with the verbiage on the label, but this is not just MM46 CS in a different bottle 😂 they just rebranded the license plate series and called this the heart instead of calling this “BR-22A”

It’s ok. It’s not great. Can’t believe I’m about to say this, but I’m with Sean.
Best Maker’s bottle I have tried, but that’s not saying much. Just doesn’t jive with my palate.
Makets 46 cask is seared staves, not toasted. I still feel like the rounded bottle of Makers 46 Cask Strength is better than the new bottle and it shouldn't be, anyone else?
Could be it's more of the "hearts" coming off the still. Less heads and tails blended back in.
EverNorth just got the idea for the shart release now….
If they had told me as a kid that I’d never fall into quicksand and wouldn’t ever need to stop drop and roll, but would probably shit myself a couple times a year as an adult (thanks, Crohns), I’d probably have checked out as a teen.
It's pronounced "Care-ah-mel"
What! Not Car-mall or Car-mail :)

I found a MM .375 gift set collecting dust with an original 46 cask strength in it about 2wks ago. I bought it immediately
@@BourbonondaBayou I found one on the shelf in Louisiana a few years ago and couldn’t believe it was just sitting there - did the same thing!
@@collinwilliams5097 man, i got this at s little gas station by me in…..Louisiana
Third. One away from a home run
Are they making 46 cask strength anymore? Haven't seen it for a year or more
Wondering the same thing, haven't seen it in forever and it's no longer in their product lineup on the website
Seems like they phased 46 cask out so they could release this for $15 more...
I would guess that this replaced it for this year given they only did 1 release of MM46CS last year that I saw.

Oh I see how it is Dan… Distillery Operators are just “the help”… i gotchu lol

I figured it out actually, I think it varies by bottling date/batch. I have a June 2024.
i'm edging
I feel like all the makers releases are just slight variations of the same thing, and they’re all pretty good. The license plate series was my entry to LE’s in general, but I’m not buying them any more
Ill stick with 46 cask strength FO for $42 bucks
I could only ever find MM46CS at 65 so this at 75 is not bad. Reg MM CS I can find for $45 and that's good just different.
Vampire: "Now you know about my life." Yeah, that sh!t diet matches your personality.
Num-ber-One! Num-ber-One! Nun-ber-One!
Did Dan just say ONLY $75 for makers mark 🤣
Bring back the old times bib for $20 😢
You guys always dog on Makers but I seem to remember Makers always rating high when you have it in a blind.
This is a personal favorite of mine. It's insanely good. Crushes most of the last WFS releases. Comes right below the Cellar Aged release.
I know everything=I know nothing.
Thought it was meh.
🇺🇸🥃
Okay, so then is it confirmed that it's just makers Mark 46 cast strength bottled in a different glass. Nothing different if that's the case, then why isn't it on the shelves Everywhere?
Maker’s is gross, like and subscribe
🤣🤣🤣

I washed my feet in Maker's and they didn't like it! :P
Inquiring minds what to know: Does everyone in your neck of the woods slur words like you guys do on every vid I've seen or is it just you two?
